    Use the jammers on the EA6s to defeat island radars and SAM guidance. Bomb, missile or whatever it takes to remove the land based radars. Use the jammers on the EA6s to jam the Russian fleet when you alpha launch on the Kiev. Your helos are useful but vulnerable. Don't leave them hanging when you know enemy radar has liked acquired them. Note: Until I watched another person playing this game, I had no idea of the utility of the jammers on the EA6s. Use them to reduce the enemy's ability to track threats and defend itself. Then your missiles and bombers stand a better chance of hitting and surviving.

    The Growlers are one of the most powerful units. Use the attack with command and then it's something like electronic counter. It produces a fairly wide yellow cone which jams and confuses radar and missiles. Take out the radars, weather the ASMs from the fleet and then you should find it easier. The A7s on the other hand seem gash.

    Sonobuoys are capable of detecting surface ships, use the P-3s to acquire the Kiev's Battle Group that way, without revealing their position by actively emitting with their radars.
    Yak-38s don't have an onboard radar, and can only be vectored based on GCI from the Task Group, so the Task Group either have to actively emit to find your aircraft, or vector their Yaks based on ESM after you reveal the position of your aircraft by actively emitting yourself. Detection via Sonobuoys should be entirely passive, so they should not know that you have detected them, so they are unlikely turn on their air search radars.
    Route your EA-6s and A-7s around the enemy SAM site, and do a coordinated strike with the P-3's Harpoons and the Wisconsin's TASMs. Shrikes may be short ranged and unable to deal with mobile non-emiting targets, but if the A-7Es are flying in immediately behind the Harpoons and TASMs, the Soviet Task Group will be forced to choose between actively emitting to shoot down the AShMs, and in the process risk losing their radars to the Shrikes, or going to EMCON and end up being hit by the AShMs and A-7E's CBUs. This should be done under the cover of EA-6 jamming, but to maintain surprise, their Jammers should remain off until the Soviets switxh on their radars and start trying to engage the AShMs.

    Height, minimum distance, loadout, and jamming are your friends with the aircraft during the attack on anti-air and anti-ship weapons on those islands.
    Pop the aircraft to a higher altitude when they get close to their target island(s). This will keep them concealed until the last minutes.
    I don't know about the weapons that are onboard the two groups of aircraft. But some weapons have a "minimum distance" where they can be used. Sometimes it's an arming issue. Sometimes it's a guidance issue. It will show up when you click on the weapon's distance. I think it's a yellow or greenish line inside the maximum distance the weapon can be used.
    Loadout: an aircraft with ground attack weapons loaded can not conduct air-to-air attacks. Today's aircraft usually have both. But that wasn't always the case. Check the weapons loadout before the battle begins.
    And the jamming part: the Growlers can jam radar for anti-air, anti-ship, and shipboard radars. Get them in ahead of your Intruders.
    Another sidenote: when an aircraft or helo is, or could come under attack drop them to their lowest possible altitude....THEN....order them to RTB. They can/will get lost in the clutter of the sea surface. This will throw off the chances of being detected by an enemy aircraft.
    And this can also throw off the aiming of missiles fired at them, some.
    Second sidenote: during your attacks on the islands it seemed most of the enemy weapons were sitting between low hills. Except for "terrain following ordinance" missiles are a "line-of-sight" weapon. They have to be fired from above any hills since they can go through, over, or around them.

    You should use the EA 6 prowler to jamm the enemies radars. EW mode I have seen in other videos that it Is modeled

    Modern anti-missile defense is very good. You have to suppress it with the Prowler's Offensive ECM, then you can get missiles in.

    This game NEEDS to be able run on 2 serpate monitors having the main screen and the tacview at the same time would be 10/10

    that was crazy, perfectly timed salvo doesnt get through. wonder if ur supposed to target escorts first? then close in with the main battlegroup

    Failed to use the jamming aircraft effectively during the mission doomed the very nice convergence of missiles to failure.
    And A-7 is not an intruder, it’s a corsair II .. cheers 🍺🌝

    You have to tell your EW airplane to use it's jammer on a target like using a weapon from a ship. Once it's done from what I've seen there should be a cone that pops up on the map radar which indicates the jamming cone. It also seems VERY useful when it comes to deteriorating the enemies missile defense systems

    A7 isn't a Prowler, it's a Corsair II.
    The EA-6B is the prowler, an EW bird.

    You really need to go on the offensive earlier too prevent losing units. don't ask a contact to identify itself more than once.

    Maybe the weapons free part of AI aircraft isn't as automatically smart as people would like at this time. That can understandably be very frustrating if it is inconsistent.
    Critical issues:
    #1. No use of jammer aircraft against SAM sites.
    #2. Engaging air defense threats at close range with aircraft (death wish)
    #3. Did not take total inventory of what the player has for offensive ability and analyze what might it take to win against the major objectives. There is plenty of offensive firepower to win.
    #4. More training on analyzing unknown contact behavior to determine whether it is a threat. Player took way too long.
    #5. Better risk & reward analysis on sending helos out to scout nearby anti-ship batteries and when to recall them due to air threats.
    #6. Depending on the AI to save your bacon on defeating missile attacks. (Painful lesson many will have to learn when you rely on it too much).

    You need to try to jam that ship concentration with the Growlers to degrade the air defence. Even still, with that number of capable ships, you may wanna send more missiles from the Battleship. It's alot to overcome, but i think EWAR may be the secret sauce to help reduce the time they can react.

    Hullo BrotherMunro! Just noticed one or two things with the A7-Es that seems to be the issue. At 22:40, the Initial Corsair that you ordered to attack the SAM site has that Launcher selected, but it had chosen to bomb it with its Cluster bombs, not its ARAD AGM (pretty weird, considering it has a longer-ranged missile it could use, but perhaps it has a minimum launch distance (see below). However, as soon as you give the 'Weapons Free' order a second or two later, it changes its target to Number 7005, which is one of the Escorts in the Soviet Surface group.
    The whole A7 formation then flies over the SAM launchers, which seems to me like the whole formation had targeted one or two of the ships (one of the planes had targeted the Kiev too), rather than the SAMs. Perhaps the ARAD missiles have a minimum launch distance? It seems to be because at 23:11, the one aircraft you give orders to, peels away to gain distance, in order to attack 7052, a SAM launcher, with its ARAD missile. In-game encyclopaedia may have an answer there.
    Giving Weapons Free orders to single aircraft seems to work though, as the Prowler you later put to Weapons Free had no issue with targeting the SAM launcher with its ARAD missile (which is exactly the same as the A7s).
    Very happy to see you've been given this title early, and well done on the change in tactics to deal with those land-based missiles. Unfortunate the carrier group seemed too tough a nut to crack!

    From other videos (stealth17's) , you have to select the unit that requests identification, it must be someone that has it on radar, otherwise it does not work (you had the enemy missile selected while requesting ID)

      also you keep your airplanes at ground level, they lose all the advantages of high altitude (large radar horizon, longer missile range, seeing behind hills, being more difficult to reach by enemy SAMs), and you did not turn their radar until they were in visual range of the enemy. Lastly, you did not use the most powerful unit available that is the EA-6 with its ECM, each of them can shut down enemy radars from a long range, blocking their radars therefore stopping them from shooting missiles (you'll play Sea Power in the missile age, they play Ultimate admiral dreadnought).

      @@BrotherMunro I think those are good for the fixed batteries, you shoot them from far and high and they track the radar source by themselves, probably they can be also useful to disable enemy ship radars for good, but definitely won't take down a carrier. I just can't wait to play this gem , I am watching every stream as soon as it comes out XD

    I think the problem your having is you do not understand the capabilities of your units. a6 has anti rad msl the other are more ground attk depending on load out.

      @@BrotherMunro FYI, Shrikes can be defeated by turning off radar being targeted, missile then homes on last known position...ships move, land based radar not so much.

      Does no good to hide behind that island when they got spotted by the land based anti-ship batteries. The AI will have good enough targeting data for at least 2 hours should the player stopped emitting after shooting down all the anti-ship missiles thrown their way.
      Maybe the player might be lucky enough for the SS-N-12 sandboxes to arm and dive early into the terrain.
      Yes, line of sight is modeled in the game regarding terrain blocking radar from detecting units.

      Fair enough, but if you put your ships close in front of an island would the ASM guidance unit go for the much bigger target?
      A fast warship could be 60-80 miles away in 2 hours, wouldn't that help the enemy lose track?
      So many questions!
      But I guess I'll find out for myself when the game is released!👍👍
