We loved our Aliner. We took out, the sink, the stove, water tank, and the bedding. We bought 2 good mattresses, a microwave, porta potty, ice chest, and an a/c and loved every minute. Bud, is correct. The aliner is terrific. It is easy to put up and down and goes everywhere.
I’m a 62 year old woman and I can easily set up my a-frame by myself. Perfect for a single person. I also love slim potatohead and the guy from “going nowhere fast” and his German shepherds.
I just purchased and A-liner and I can't wait to go camping. I love Slim potatoehead's video's. I will have to check out the other channel you mentioned. Thank you
I love that solar system.... 1:25 "solar light, motion sensor, somebody walks up, light comes on and dog barks!" Interconnecting the dog to the night light sensor is GENIUS. 🤣🐶
The ingenuity of this gentleman is inspiring. Also agree about not using water tanks and about the stuff that grows even in enclosed standing filtered water.
First time seeing an Aliner It's really a good set up for one. I'm the same way have to make myself talk to other people. Would love to be able to do this. Bud seems like a nice guy. Wanted to see Dufus.
Bob Wells...another great interview. You find the most interesting people to interview! He has given a lot of thought to his set up. It is amazing how roomy those a-liners are. I watch slim potatohead, too.
I bought a 2018 Aliner Expedition last year and love it. It has the dormers and comes with the indoor bathrooms with shower. When we're not camping, it stays in our standard size 2-car garage. Great video - thanks!
This is an amazing little home on wheels. I really like how he used galvanized pipe to replace original table support. We want to something different with our table in our 36 ft travel trailer we live in fulltime with our family. Thank y’all for sharing his home.
Hi Bob. Love watching your videos and love the different kinds of people you interview. And their different rigs. Your an amazing man. By showing people how to LIVE. By showing you don't have to settle for quote an quote what society thinks is normal. By being house poor. You are showing people you have a home just not a sticks an brick house. But a real home. And God bless you Bob. May he contuine to bless you and may you continue to be you. By showing people that what you are trying to teach them is POSSIBLE. 😁😁😁
wonderful information. I have been looking for what to look for in an A-liner for about 6-9 months and you have provided me with some great information. I don't care for the soft sided either. I know they rot out fast. My grandpa built one of the first soft sides in the 1930's which I still have the original plans for. we would go camping with them during the summer recess and we loved it. thanks again.
Excellent info from a plumber on bacteria etc in water tanks...reaffirmed my simplistic approach. Also, "women shouldn't be afraid of this --it easy to do"--really needed to hear that. Thx for all the tips!
I’m 66 and have the Aliner Ranger 10-currently the smallest unit. No table. Cabinets instead. Works for me. Sturdy, secure, and full of light with its big windows. Also enjoy Slim and Rick’s TH-cam channels. Thanks!
See not to worry. I knew Bob would release a second video of the tour. Some people wine and complain too much without watching the first video to the end. Love this little trailer. Great video and interview Bob. Cheers
I do all the driving with our A frame trailer as my husband has disabilities and doesn't drive often. It is a breeze to pull and it will go wherever you can get your car. Sometimes I almost forget its there until I look in my mirror and wonder why that person is so close to my bumper, but wait! Its just my camper. LOL I am not a full timer as of yet , but who knows what tomorrow might bring.
Thanks for sharing your Aliner, Bud. I'm glad to see a video of an A-frame as I will be getting one soon. Used one's are hard to come by, as Bud said but I'm hopeful I'll find one. I'm also a fan of Slim Potatohead's channel. He has so many great ideas for a-frames.
Used to have an A-Liner Scout model - very basic and the lower price reflected that making it affordable as a new trailer. These are a definite step up from tenting ... get you up off the ground, the walls are insulated so provide more comfort, mine had an inside height of 9' 7", very easy to setup and take down ... and the list goes on. I only had minor issues with the foam sealing and had to replace with a kit you can get from the factory and replaced the original converter - that's it, no other issues. The only reason I sold it was I saw a Class B up for sale at a price I couldn't refuse. As mentioned, Slim Potatohead has a very good channel if you are interested in the A-Liners and the mods he's done. Cheers, Steve
Really like the awning you made! My partner is living full time in our Aliner now and your awning design looks perfect. We have the model with a dormer and it adds enormous space. I see your point about the "useless" bubble window but one of our pups loves looking out of it all day :) Agree on the sink but we do use it. My issue with the sink is the countertop is too low so it kills my back to wash dishes in it. A couple Aliners have higher countertops so customers must have given feedback about the height.
I'm very happy to see folks making due..I truly hope this is sustainable and becomes acceptable. This is going to be more common as more folks retire and find out that the money they paid into for their retirement was poorly mismanaged and now left to fend on their own.. It's a great way to live within your means without being homeless. Best wishes and good luck because I myself thought I'd have enough S.S. but now I'm not far behind and looking for the RV life as an option as well. Thanks to Bob for all the invaluable information.
Your tow vehicle makes most of the difference in what’s best. My Trlr was 12k. I paid 0 down 147. A month for 10 years. A hell of an inexpensive way to live WELL
A liner seems like a neat way to go. A frame headroom, lightweight, flexibility. My only critique of stock designs would be more custom interior accents such as pine interior roofing to make a more homey feel.
This is the Aliner model I hope to get in a few years when I can no longer climb in and out of my teardrop. Though i just camp not full time. Really enjoyed this video.
Bud, I am proud of you! You are out there! I am next! I am thinking to leave Florida the end of the month for my adventures! Love you use those copper pots!
I really appreciate this video, Bob. I'll be getting an Aliner (or some brand of A frame) soon and so I've been trying to learn the "ins and outs" of owning and maintaining one.
I've used the interlocking boat deck material for shower mat (I'll have to check, I think name brand is Dura-grid) - works very well and can be cut to custom size.
Nice review of the a frame trailer. I recently purchased an a frame and I really like mine as well. Mine is a different brand. Being a woman I was concerned with setting it up so I got my trailer with the lift assist. All I have to do is push a button. Thanks for the review. Love your channel.
Fabulous video. Thanks, Bob. Two handsome hunky older men. This site is better than Tinder for seniors. Bud, what a catch. Plumber, electrican, pilot. How could they let you be single????? See you on the road. All the best, Maxine Bob, can you forward this compliment to Bud?
I really hope one day you meet up with Slim Potatohead and can interview him!! he has amazing ideas !! When I found his channel it renewed my interest in not just traveling but why I wanted to travel. Me and my husband are about to have a empty house... Our kids are growing up and moving out. Well when you have a 4 bedroom double wide mobile home with toooooo much space that isn't ACTUALLY mobile with 2 people you find it's more space than u need. So now we have to plan what do we want to do next....
Very interesting interview, He is the second person I, know of who is full timing in a Airliner trailer, I met over 25 years ago, When these units frost came out with a good sized bathtub underneath one of the dinnet
Sorry about that, my comment was sent before I completed it, The guy who had a Aliner 25 years ago had a bathtub underneath one of his dinette seat. Stay safe, Be careful, and Keep on rolling..
Years ago, the Today Show had a Saturday feature, once a month, that featured "new things." This is how I found out about the Aliner. The company made only one with the hot tub to get on the show. and it worked. I was intrigued especially when they demonstrated how easy it was to put up and down. Also, it was made south of Pittsburgh where I'm from. when we needed a new camper we bought one and loved it until our camping days were over. At one point, the company even made a tiny, one person model that could be pulled by a motorcycle. It was so cute.
Thank you for this!!! I'm researching Aliners for a recreational camper, and hope to have a home on wheels later in life. I was thinking the simplicity of an Aliner is a good base to learn, for living in a home on wheels later on. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles; I basically want a "box" I can customize to my needs.
Watching the video again and realized this was out just before I got my Aliner! I really enjoy it and don’t get out enough. I don’t use the water system in it either. I use a urinal at night and typically have a bathroom the rest of the time but carry an emergency potty. I see so many rigs with everything inside but I typically do all my cooking, cleaning and lounging outside. I use an Exped Mega mat Duo 10 insulated sleeping pad for great comfort and warmth.
Please pass along to this gentleman to put a bug screen over his furnace output on the outside. It’ll keep out spiders and dirt dobbers out. Whether he uses it or not. Saved me from a lot of headaches.
Gary Smith Thanks for mentioning. By the end of the video, I wondered about it becoming an insect trap. 🐜 Additionally, that you can see light in the corner of the frames at the top is concerning.
@@janetbrowning9089 You could also do some trial runs with just you car or what ever you have, I have a ford escape. You can rig up a temp bed etc., and go on a short trip to see how things go and what you needed while there?
@@pjd2709 This is true...I have thought of that too...my biggest reason for waiting is I am 6' tall and I don't think I could use a port-a-potty in my vehicle...lol Normally though, for most people, that would not be a problem, even if they were tall...but, I have a medical issue, Crohn's, that necessitates me using the bathroom very frequently and it isn't feasible in a car for me...otherwise, great idea and I would have already tried it. Thanks for the idea though...nice of you to think of ways to try it out.🚐😊
I was looking at the Flagstaff and Rockwood hard-sides from Forest river. To get the nice bathroom/shower/cassette toilet, you have to get the longer trailer. But I don't need the dinette or large bed. Would be nice to find something the size of Bud's but with the "deluxe" shower and toilet. I think the small hard-side is the answer for me.

I have a chalet Aframe works great. Been out here in Arizona for 8 weeks now. I like the way he made his table.
thank you for your post, I'm 59 and considering a A Frame
Thanks Bud for mentioning that girls can handle the Aliner too.💃

Love that A frame! Looks like a little house.
Nice home. Happy nomading! 😊
I've chosen the off road A Liner with a bathroom option and solar package with the dormers. Very light weight to tow! Love it!
I am happy for you mister . Good for you .
Thank you for joining this review I found it helpful
Bud is a really cool guy. Enjoyed the interview and like the A frame camper.

I dig the toilet idea, very clever
