  • You should check your chain tension often if you like to ride at very high speeds. Also, you may wish to check the following bolts to ensure they are at factory spec:
Front Brake Pad Caliper Mtg Bolts 26nm or 19lb-ft
Front Axel Pinch Bolts 23nm or 16.5lb-ft
Front Axel Lock Nut (no thread lock) 100nm or 72.5lb-ft
Handlebar Control Switch Bolts 10nm or 7lb-ft
    Handlebar Clamps 23nm or 16.5lb-ft
Steering Stem Top Nut 65nm or 47lb-ft
Also, the rear shock damping adjuster normal position is 1.25 turns CCW from full CW. CW = stiffer ride; CCW = softer ride

On my 1250 bandit I take a measurement at the chain tight spot and have it on side stand with Weight of bike on it . Bob it on centre stand to adjust and back on side stand to re check it after adjustment .

Hi, first i would like to thank you for posting such great and informative video clips about the Suzuki gsx1250 , I have the2010 model great bike ,mods I've done are replaced end can which in my opinion was too large and heavy, with a delkevic end can lighter and shorter much better and also fitted scottoiler to help prolong the chain lifespan , again thanks for info

There is an error in this video, the chain should be set at the tightest point of the chain not the losest

dont forget to mention, BOTH sides of the tightening mechanisms need to be Equal before u tighten both lock nuts. otherwise the rear wheel will be skewed !!!

I looked up the scottoiler online, looks like a nice product. How do you like it? How much oil does it use?

Oh wow that's ... well... completely against the official Suzuki Service Instruction! Chain tension must be checked on the center stand! This is due to the fact that the chain tension is the highest while it's on the center stand. Any load will cause the chain to get loose. By measuring the prescribed chain tension on the side stand, and bringing it to the value of 20-30mm (which is something like 1/3658th of a football field) you will admire a way to high chain tension causing a forced wear of it and get the risk of having it ripped apart when a bigger bump comes up.
Please! Before giving such a advice on youtube with a whole bunch of people doing it the shown way: RTFM!

Wrong, the chain is at its loosest on the center stand, generally the wheel moves away from the engine as the wheel move up towards the mudguard

@@alanking5989 it might be right for many Motor cycles but not for GSX-1250. As stated: read the official suzuki service manual. I hope they know more what they are talking about than any random yt commenter

@@martinschwaikert5433 my gsf1250 is loose on the centre stand and tight when both wheels are on the ground, I have a Haynes manual which covers both GSX and GSF, it says set to the tightest point.

The bike must be on the side stand - I have had a GSX1250 FA 2012 from new. I have the official suzuki manual. It clearly says adjust the chain with the bike on the side stand - on page 6-29. If you google the pdf of the manual it has the same info on page 6-32

      @@pauldan758 from Service manual:
      Drive Chain Slack Adjustment
      1) Place the motorcycle on its center stand for fine
      adjustment.
      2) Loosen the axle nut (1).
      3) Loosen the chain adjuster lock-nuts (2).
      4) Loosen or tighten both chain adjuster bolts (3) until
      there is 20 - 30 mm (0.8 - 1.2 in) “a” of slack at the
middle of the chain between the engine and rear

Shouldn't you adjust at the tightest part of the chain----Not the slackest part?

Hi, scottoiler great, once you got it set up also got duel injector so oils both sides of chain hoping it doubles the life of my chain according to scottoiler web site should get between 3 to 5 thousand miles per top up so. Very economical , plus the saving on chain and sprockets, check out website for more info . Overall i'am very satisfied
