I’m African American, but I’ve had a similar experience. My grandmother was the shoe throwing champion. She had a throw that could curve a shoe around a corner, so there was literally no escape! I would come back rubbing my head asking “How did you do that?” 😂

My family is Argentine. We never had Chanclazos, but rather lectures and timeouts. However, when my family moved to in United States, my parents met our Mexican neighbors and adopted the Chanclazo. Mexico, you owe me reparations!

I laughed historically though this whole video!! La Chancla did give us PTSD. Some of our Moms could wield it like an Olympic champion but it was an amazing motivational/behavior modifier.

Being hit with a chancla is not a mexican thing, its a mexican american/chicano thing. Never in mexico was i ever hit with a chancla nor did i know someone who was hit with a chancla. Chanclas were used for killing bugs. Being hit hit by a belt was the norm in mexico

I will admit that I am an honorary Mexican in four different families, but I was Hecho en Mexico, so I'm counting that. This is great. A white kid in the 60's my Mom had a Bo-Bo paddle.... it was that wooden paddle with the rubber band and red rubber ball attached. It was a paddle, she could wing it like a Tomahawk and then she started writing how many swats you got for each different offense for repeat offenders. Thank goodness the kids today don't have the eye-hand coordination to play with those things any more, maybe that is why things are so messed up.
