- Sky News military analyst Prof Michael Clarke looks at the military operation behind the UK-US air strikes on Houthi rebels in Yemen.
He said fighter jets and support aircraft would have flown a 3,200-mile round trip from British bases in Cyprus, spending at least eight hours in the air.
The US and UK hit several targets in western Yemen in response to repeated Houthi attacks on Western shipping in the Red Sea.

Very nit picky, but the Typhoon is not a bomber, its a multirole fighter. Bombers tend to be large, with poor manoeuvrability, but can fly much further distances unassisted, and carry a much larger payload. If bombers carried out the mission, there be no need for air to air refueling most likely, however the RAF doesn't operate bombers anymore.
While the Typhoon is capable of ground attack, its primary purpose is air superiority, meaning its not a bomber, but a multirole fighter. Even whens it's flown in a ground attack capacity.
I like ice cream. 🍦
@@phillipbanes5484 That's just outright wrong. Aircraft can very much have multiple roles. The aircraft here, the Typhoon, is designed as an air superiority fighter, but as evident from this video, can partake in ground to air missions. Making it a multi-role fighter. 20 Country coalition but only 2 country are making moves, this is dirty that they don't want their hands to get dirty but so eager to reap the benefits
Britain and the US are the only countries with airstrike capabilities in that area. Other countries would have to spend time and effort moving strike capabilities there, which is pointless when the US and Britain have more than enough to destroy all houthi military sites several times over, right there.
The other coalition forces are there in "supporting" roles, basically just more AA cover etc i guess. The coalition is basically a message that the west does not tolerate houthis messing about with the adults stuff.
