1:24 Cotter pin removal technique here - Nice trick hitting the vise with a hammer, while the tension was on! Thanks!

I use a car ball joint splitter for removing cotter pins.

Thank you :) Ah very nice, I used to have a Recorde du Monde as well but I had a very bad crash on it, it was wrecked :( I still have some of the parts if you need spares :) I look forward to seeing your restoration :)

That's a lovely chain ring, I saw one in an old video on the factory in Nottingham (my home town) but I have never seen one In the flesh sadly. A beautiful bike, love the colour. 🙂

Thank you Reginald :) Those heron chainrings were used on a lot of old Raleighs, certainly on Twenties, RSW's, Choppers and some folding bikes as well as these bigger bikes. I will replace the whole group on this bike as the chain is horribly worn. This is one of my favourite bikes, I love the red as well, they also made a blue Trent Tourist, I think they are less common than the red.

I didn’t have much problem removing old pins but after installing new ones I run into the problem of arms not being 100% opposite to each other. I’ve ordered more than 10 pins and I guess will have to try again. Any tips regarding alignment? Any help appreciated. My bike is old 80’s Raleigh 3 speed similar to Chiltern.

Hi there, my apologies for the slow reply, I am not entirely sure what they are worth, just make me an offer really, I shall look into postage to the Netherlands :)
