  • A couple are arrested on drug charges but when interviewed by Officer Nicole, their stories don't match up. She believes someone is lying, and is disappointed to learn one suspect was smoking drugs while pregnant. Meanwhile, another suspect managed to hide drugs in a flip phone. And officers deal with an uncooperative intoxicated suspect by throwing him into an isolation cell.
Jail is an American documentary reality television series that follows suspects in custody from booking through to incarceration. The show documents events in different jails across the U.S. Jail is the sister show to Cops, a show that follows police officers on patrol.

I stopped drinking after wrecking my car the week of Thanksgiving 2007. My seatbelt wasn’t on, my airbag didn't deploy when hit a guardrail causing my 11 month old Monte Carlo to roll over 5 times, coming to rest on its roof. Witnesses said the second time my car landed on its tires three of them blew from the force. My car ended tires in the air, roof on the ground. My heart stopped before EMS could free me from the wreckage, and it stopped a second time en route to the ER.
A defibrillator was used both times, but the second time required the addition of adrenaline with the defibrillator set at its maximum setting before it started beating again. In Kansas the legal BAC is 0.08%; the lab draw in the ER showed my BAC to be 0.235%. The only injurys I sustained were a 3" laceration to my left forearm and several bruises. I didn't have a concussion or any broken bones. After I regained consciousness the next morning in the hospital,
I remember saying to the nurse in my room, "Please tell me I didn't hit another vehicle. Please."
She was shocked. She told me in her over 20 years as an ER/Trauma nurse she had see many people come to the ER because of someone Driving Under the Influence, both victims and responsible party for the accudent. Some didn't make it, some did. She told me in all that time not ONE drunk driver had ever said anything like that to her. EVER. She said, "Your car was the only one involved. The only person's death you were responsible for last night was your own." She then told me about the defibrillator being used twice. Your chest wall is bruised for about six weeks from it. It's painful to even think about breathing, talking or laughing during that time. The nurse asked me what the last thing I could remember before the wreck was. I remembered meeting my friends at our usual spot after work and the thing was waking up in the hospital room I was in at that moment. The only part of that wreck that has creeped into my conscious memory was hearing what sounded more like a ghost than a person saying, "We're about to lose...." and that surfaced just a few years ago.
One of the state troopers that worked my accident called me two days later to see how I was doing. He asked me if I had seen my car yet. I told him yes, I had seen it. He then asked me, "Do you think you were lucky?" I responded, "No. I do not now, nor have I ever, believed in luck or coincidence." He said, "That's good to know. I've worked accidents not nearly as bad as yours that were fatalities. You never should have been able to even walk away from that wreck and you did.
I don't know what it is that is so important you still have to do on this Earth, but promise me you will do your best to figure it out. It's like you were coccooned, protected somehow, sitting in that driver's seat." I made him that promise and am still keeping it 16 years later. There wasn’t one single scratch on the driver's side roof or door. The window of the driver's side door was completly intact. There wasn’t one single scratch or dent in the driver's side door. The roof directly above the seat on the driver's side didn't have one single scratch, not one single dent. The rest of that Monte Carlo was DETROYED beyond any repair, the engine included.
He's right. I walked away from something no one should have survived. I was 42 years old and given a second chance by reckoning I had not earned and didn't deserve.
I still feel that way sometimes. We are only given a second chance in life like that once. I chose to take very good care of mine. I wasn’t willing to hedge my bets that I would walk away from anything like that wreck ever again. That wreck is without exception, one of the best things that has ever happened to me and I'm grateful for it every single day. I don't miss the alcohol or the bars at all. I've been sober since that wreck.
I don't count my sober time by weeks, months or even years because to me, today is the most important day. The mantra that works for me still is, "Just for today. I can do this; just for today." Different things work different people
Just for today, I can do this.
I hope and pray anyone struggling with alcoholism or addiction of any kind makes it Just For Today. ❤

@@tvsRN I still hold to the mindset that if my story helps just one other person change their life from one of alcohol and drugs, then it was worth it. Truth be told, that night really is one of the VERY BEST things that has ever happened to me. 😉 The all too painful truth is the ONLY PERSON that can save an alcoholic and/or addict is THEMSELF. I can't count the number of times I've heard family members say, "What did I do wrong to make you/them turn into an alcoholic and/or addict? What should I have done differently?" And that is where the problem gets compounded. Family members, friends, etc need to understand one very important thing: IT'S NOT ABOUT THEM OR WHAT THEY COULD HAVE/SHOULD HAVE/WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY. In fact, it has NOTHING to do with them. So when their Victim Mentality kicks in, all they manage to do is drive their alcoholic and/or addicted loved one further away from them and further away from getting clean and sober. They need your support, your love and for you to really HEAR what they're saying. That CAN NOT include trying to shoulder any of the responsibility or blame. Those things were never yours to begin with. There is only one door that is the entrance and exit to being an alcoholic and/or addict. Only one; it just looks different to each one of us. As I told my family, I wouldn't want someone I don't particularly like to know what it is to fall so far they discover rock bottoms basement has a basement of it's own. Not even so much as a pinpoint of light penetrates that darkness.
      Each and every one of us has a small piece of the 5 or 6 year old child we once were in a very special place in our heart. That part of us that believed we could achieve ANYTHING we set our minds to, that knew hope wasn't a "thing", but something very, very real and tangible. The day I slipped away from my "friends" in that abyss of endless night was terrifying! You can hear them calling out your name, but you sit, silent, frozen, hoping they want stumble across you in the dark. After awhile, their voices sound further and further away, until you don't hear them anymore. That's when you begin crying silently, then sleep, and then that process repeats itself over and over and over again. It is where being lost and feeling completely hopeless lives. For me, I felt this little hand reach out and it took hold of mine. Then this little voice so calmly and compassionately said to me, "It's OK. Don't be afraid;
I can show you the way out. It feels like you've walked for days, stopping to sleep, moving quietly so not to be discovered looking for the exit. For your way out of the darkness. Then one day, you realize that you aren't surrounded by pitch black, but more of a black mist that gets lighter with every step you take. When that must becomes a hazy gray, you see what appears to be the outline of a door...that's when terror strikes every fiber of your being. I stopped, and I see this little girl that looks to be 5 or 6 years old. I say, "How do I know you're really showing me the way out? I don't even know who you are! I don't even know your name!"
With that, the little girl turned around and looked me right in the eyes and said, "Yes you do know me. You have known me always and you know my name because I am you. When you couldn't hear me anymore, I stayed with you every step of the way. I never left your side; I was just waiting until you could hear me again." I asked, "What if after walking through that door...what if my Mom, Dad and my kids tell me they love me but want nothing to do with me? What then?" That little version of me replied, "Well, that might happen. If it does, you will have to learn to live with it because YOU made that decision FOR THEM. YOU chose the dark path you went down. YOU will have to find it in your heart to respect that decision if it goes that way. I don't feel it will though." The only thing that can save someone that is an alcoholic and/or addict is that little 5 or 6 year old piece of ourselves that still lives within our heart. At least that's how it happened for me. There is nothing quite as surreal is looking at your reflection in the mirror, recognizing the face and physical features, but having absolutely NO clue who the person inside that shell is anymore. A friend told me my experience and how I explained it is what she calls God.
All I know is for me, that experience was very real and it was life changing. I finally knew what peace felt like; I still do.
I pray with all my heary everyone struggling to get clean and/or sober find their way back home too. ❤️‍🩹

Drugs are a big problem in any country in the world. The obstacle to people trying to cope with this problem seems to be the system itself. One arm of those who actually produce and sell these substances may even appear in politics and the other in the judiciary. Non-deterrent penalties are a lousy legal system. It will only get better if the judiciary and politics give clear support to law enforcement.

Officers have to maintain total control in every situation. One unruly inmate can create a massive security risk that can whip others into a frenzy in no time flat. I've seen it happen in booking where one person was able to create a massive racially devided brawl. 7 people had to be taken to the emergency room, 4 with serious injuries, 1 never walked again.
