I definitely like the concept of a d pad on a joy con but that fact that you can’t use it wirelessly kills it for me. The us releases looks cool, but it’ll probably just be used for eye candy.
I also hate that its missing the HD rumble, meaning you'll only feel the game in your right hand.
I think if this was wireless I’d be much more inclined to buy it, especially with my pro controller not having the greatest dpad

Sounds like it accomplishes what it's supposed to for a reasonable price when compared to the normal joycon price
But they could make an enhanced version that fixes some of the problems you and others have mentioned, e.g. battery drainage, gyroscope, wireless, etc. for a slightly higher price, or phase out the first version over time

I actually own a Hori Wired Fight pad for my Wii U. It's basically a Classic Controller pro that's modeled after a Gamecube Controller. I bought it thinking it was one of the Gamecube Controllers for the adapter. To my surprise, it was actually meant to plug in to the Wiimote. It wass actually my favorite way to play most of my games on the Wii U.

Your review is on point, my man. I like the third party controller here, but I mainly play my switch in TV mode so this thing wouldn't fit my needs. I'm much happier with the ones provided with my switch for this reason. Also I love how they MODELED the SL and SR buttons, but failed to add any functionality to them. Also, you have Star Allies AND Mario Kart 8 Deluxe! You are a great friend. :)
Also, I know you live in Hong Kong, but you can read and understand the Japanese/Chinese on the box.

For $25 I would have been disappointed, but I got one on clearance for $12, and for that price it's more than fine!

I had the wandering problem with my official left grey joy con. I have just ordered one of these of ebay and i really hope it doesn't have these issues the official ones have.
Probably gonna pick this thing up once the bugs get fixed.
I wish that the deep joy cons would be actual joycons for the switch :T

i know i’m 4 years late but i think my favorite dpad to use is either the switch lite one or the nes/famicom controllers
If you have any interest in Taiko Drum Master, would you consider a full review on the drum peripheral? I'm probably going to get one regardless when the game releases in the west, but I've yet to see one "definitive" review on the drum thus far.
I have the game but do not have drum peripheral since it's too expensive for my liking. I do have the one for the Wii though, so I'd assume it's like that but slightly better, aka more suitable for casual play

I don't see why there hasn't been an official dpad joycon and/or a 3rd party one that functions on the same level as a normal one.

Moon Medic I doubt we'll ever see third party sponsored joycons that have the same features just because it'd directly compete with the first party stuff. I feel like Nintendo wouldn't make an official dpad one just because they want to encourage people to use a joycon each or something

Does the stick feel the same as a real Joy-Con?
So, when playing a game with rumble, does it only rumble on the right or is there a little rumble on the left?
Since it's attached to the Switch, the rumble is still spread throughout the system, but you can feel it's a bit stronger on the right side

That's not a D-Pad, that's a Control Pad. The D-Pad's Sega's copy of the Control Pad they made for the Dreamcast. And for the record, the one on the Mega Drive and Saturn was calld the "D-Button", with the controller itself being calld the "Control Pad" for some reason.
I neva seen that Blue Hori dpad? i got the zelda and mario one. i seen the pokemon one but neva seen this blue version?
Why do people hate the directional buttons? I have coordination issues with my hand meaning I can't write and make frequent typos. I hate D-pads as sub controllers (They worked well on the NES,SNES DS-DSi) as I never know what direction will be pressed compared to my intended direction. This is basically the only reason I still use a Joycon Grip.
Does it work well on Street Fighter ?
Yeah, the left Joy-Con doesn't use the gyroscope or accelrometer at all when you're using the right Joy-Con as well.

The point of the buttons is for when you local play, the player with the left joycon wouldn't want to play mario kart with a dpad
I'm gonna go ahead and assume that this thing probably isn't compatible with grips like the Satisfye Ultimate Gaming Grip because of the size difference. =/

I've only noticed recently that people want the D-Pad this badly.
Why is this such a big deal to people? I actually prefer the buttons and I grew up with d-pads (DS Lite and DSi)
