i think this was the ef2, the others that happened on the same day were 0s and 1s, but we normally don’t get tornadoes over here so it was a wild day to say the least.
We rarely get tornadoes in SWPA, but we’ve had like 10 in May, and it’s exceeded our average for the year. All EF0 and EF1, and I think one EF2. Fortunately, no fatalities.
Kansan here. There’s a few reasons we stand outside during thunderstorm and tornado season. 1. No one will tell you where the tornados at, until AFTER it hits something. Which means something is getting hit first, and we need to know if it’s gonna be us. I was taught as a child what to look out for in the clouds to know if there’s a chance of tornadoes. 2. Where’s there’s one tornado, there can most definitely be two or more. I would very much like to know if there’s more than one. 3. To see which direction it’s headed. And for all who may not know, if a tornado looks like it isn’t moving, it’s headed straight towards you. Now for more tornado knowledge. NEVER get inside of your car. Find a ditch or lay low on the ground. Your car is an umbrella in the wind to a tornado. Most tornadoes move 10-20mph, they can get up to 60mph. Most tornadoes are very difficult to see, they are usually in the middle of heavy thunderstorms. So how do you see it in a heavy thunderstorm? Look for small flashes of light near the ground. And a constant thundery rumble. If you see the lights and hear the rumble, you got a tornado. If you’re not in the rain and you can see the clouds, you’re looking for clouds moving in different directions, not spaced far apart. Thats called rotation, and it’s what breeds tornadoes. Not all rotation leads to tornadoes. In fact few do, but a tornado requires rotation to get it started.
This is normal in Tornado Alley states. Everybody, including myself, does this. When the tornado comes your way or gets closer then you dash to the basement. In 1975 -- just going outside to watch tornado wasn't enough for one guy in Omaha. He actually climbed onto the roof to watch. He was later picked up when they found the pieces.
It's south thing you know how many times I was in a storm shelter and my dad uncle and granddad all stood outside or near a door during super bad storms

I just don't understand how people can feel. Safe and comfortable. Choosing to live in these areas and building lives there, knowing that During certain seasons at any time, a tornado could touch down and destroy all of your worldly possessions, Even taking the people you love or your pets.
Yeah, we don’t always feel safe during certain months of the year, but the area tornadoes can hit covers half the US. And the other half gets hurricanes, possible earthquakes, blizzards, or desert conditions. Pick your poison in this country.
Note that the tornado is moving AWAY from the camera. The storm had already passed through this neighborhood, and now its touching down on the other side of the hill. The second video shows the F0 damage it did before escalating to F1 in the first video.
You severely underestimate tornadoes... tornadoes destroy brick and concrete buildings all the time. You would have more people killed by the worse debris.
I suggest you look up the damage from F/EF'5s. Brick and concrete houses reduced to the foundatio, semi truck trailers twisted, bark ripped from the trees, cars thrown hundreds of feet, even asphalts been pulled from the road.
LOOK AT HOW HIGH the house debris goes in the sky!! Do u see that?!! That could be a person WAY, WAY, WAY UP THERE, if there would have happened to have been a person IN THAT HOUSE!!! I don’t think there was , though, because I think this video would have stated that, if there was. But just can’t believe how high things get thrown upwards!! That is HORRIBLE!!
small doesn't mean weak. Not a perfect correlation between size and intensity. It blew up a house. It wasn't a weak tornado. In Canada a few years ago a "small" tornado meandered through a town, everyone was out watching it and taking pictures. It was tentatively classified as F1 based on size. Than they noticed that it picked up an entire brick bungalow and pulled it up a hundred feet or more in the air just whirling it around the center vortice. And we thought the Wizard of Oz was pure fantasy!
Small tornadoes can be STRONGER than bigger ones. This one was essentially a single "suction vortex" - bigger ones may have many of them. Suction vortices are where most of the power of a tornado is concentrated. A little drillbit like this one can do incredible damage and in a wildly unpredictable path. Small =/= weak! Depending on how well built the house was that it biew up, that could easily be an EF3 or EF4 tornado. The Pampa, TX tornado was small for much of its life, too, and it did high end EF4 damage with an incredible cloud of debris.
That tornado is Canada's only F5, and it was on the strength of that single area. Picking a well built house wholly off its foundation, lifting it hundreds of feet and then shredding it is F5 behavior. And it achieved F5 damage while it was *roping out.* Small tornadoes can be incredibly dangerous.
I live here, I saw what it looked like from the ground, but the aerial view, YIKES, uh, we don't get tornadoes very often, the fire house siren went off about 1½ minutes before it touched down here! 😱
That thing came out of nowhere, and then disappeared just as fast as it appeared. I would not have been like those two guys at the bottom, I would’ve been running inside and taking cover somewhere.
They probably had no idea what has going on. They had those big trees right in front of them and were likely just scanning the sky. You can even see them leaning over to look under the trees. Kinda crazy.
I live outside of Seattle Wa and I will deal with the earthquakes we get vice having a twister take my house away..Earthquakes are freakie things and when the earth starts moving it's a site to see and I've been through three major ones in my lifetime and they suck.
I'm sorry to the people who went through this. However, to see how these things operate and to see how they destroy buildings is truly a wonder of nature.
I live in Oklahoma and I know about tornadoes there in Pennsylvania at that time it didn't have enough power so that tornado lasted seconds giving it's full power which looked like ef2 are ef3 damage
I was actually at a dance competition during this not so far from there. We got to see the tornado touch down and stuff, it didn’t come near the competition venue so it was pretty cool to see.
Next time you want to eat something that there is a shortage of, I hope you remember that instead of using the land to grow food, millions of people (especially in the US) have decided to use all of this very arable land (with all the water and all the energy it takes) to grow an industrially produced weed that sole purpose is for Richard to mown it (energy) every other Sunday and use tons of petrochemicals (again, water and energy) to keep it as green as possible. Just for him to show off at the next town gathering. In all inanity. Where you see great lawns, I see a big wasted food supply.
I think most places have the threat of natural disaster. I live where there's wildfires and earthquakes but would never think to move away even though some family members say it's not safe. Gotta live my life!
Man the fact tornados jump is wild to me.. tornados literally will level a home then jump over the neighbor then land on the other neighbors home next to him.
Even a mild tornado can tear siding and shingles from a house. Most of the debris appears to be siding and roofing material. My guess is that this is F1 damage. And it can cause serious structural damage, making a property uninhabitable.
Ppl still don’t remember to bring lawn furniture into a garage or something otherwise it’s used as missals. Get it? But then again this could have happened out of no where. It be rather expensive if it went through a patio door and sucked everything out like they do.

That's the thing...tornadoes can happen anywhere. Even Alaska.
i think this was the ef2, the others that happened on the same day were 0s and 1s, but we normally don’t get tornadoes over here so it was a wild day to say the least.
We rarely get tornadoes in SWPA, but we’ve had like 10 in May, and it’s exceeded our average for the year. All EF0 and EF1, and I think one EF2. Fortunately, no fatalities.
Take your pick: tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires, or floods.
Why are those people outside?
@@NovaDust94 Kansan here as well, us midwestern folks are crazy when it comes to tornados.😂
It's south thing you know how many times I was in a storm shelter and my dad uncle and granddad all stood outside or near a door during super bad storms
This was in Peters Township, Pennsylvania 12 miles South of Pittsburgh in a area with lots of hills and valleys.
sometimes the smallest least visible vortices are rotating the fastest!
Watching those lawn chairs and cousins blow around was terrifying. An awesome display of mother natures ability to rearrange lawn furniture.
I hate when that happens.
Ppl watching outside is wild to me
They have such a big house they prolly would die from the rubble
It already hit their yard. Look at the flipped trailer and debris. The tornado was moving AWAY at this point in the video. They came out to see what it did.
Damn. It’s like it started right on top of a house
Think I’ll stick with hurricanes, at least we have plenty of time to get out!!!! Tornadoes scare me to death 😢
Whats the difference?
Tornadoes and earthquakes are far more scary.
@@MarzipanCat.Tornadoes come with little warning, are fairly unpredictable and have much more violent winds than hurricanes on average. But the good thing is they're much smaller and don't last as long.
I couldn’t help but look at the camper upside down
Didn't even notice that! I only noticed the two people out there doing a lookey-loo at it as it rips apart someone's house.
@@Snarky_Gurl I didn’t notice it at first either it wasn’t until I played it a second time that I noticed those were tires on top of the camper instead of being on the bottom lol
I'm not sure it's an upside down camper- the tornado didn't pass by there, everything around it is fine. It is weird though
@@Lydianon now that I look again, it's not. It's an enclosed trailer.

I just don't understand how people can feel. Safe and comfortable. Choosing to live in these areas and building lives there, knowing that During certain seasons at any time, a tornado could touch down and destroy all of your worldly possessions, Even taking the people you love or your pets.
have you heard about other natural disasters?
it's pretty crazy, they actually happen on 100% of the surface of the planet.
Every region has its share of natural disasters.. Some have tornadoes, some have hurricanes, some have earthquakes, etc.
But by the grace of God.
No matter where you live, you will have to put up with some bullsh1t. 😣 So not sure if your argument stands.
Yeah, we don’t always feel safe during certain months of the year, but the area tornadoes can hit covers half the US. And the other half gets hurricanes, possible earthquakes, blizzards, or desert conditions. Pick your poison in this country.
Thats a nice backyard
Was thinking the same
Note that the tornado is moving AWAY from the camera. The storm had already passed through this neighborhood, and now its touching down on the other side of the hill. The second video shows the F0 damage it did before escalating to F1 in the first video.
Only in America would you have a place where tornados happen a lot, but the houses are made of paper.
You severely underestimate tornadoes... tornadoes destroy brick and concrete buildings all the time. You would have more people killed by the worse debris.
Hole 7 just got OWNED
Ah, those wonderful modern cardboard and styrofoam subdivision houses.
Indeed. Made to last less than a generation.
Particle wood, drywall, and staples.
Agree!
Tornadoes can strip a brick building down to the foundation.
I suggest you look up the damage from F/EF'5s. Brick and concrete houses reduced to the foundatio, semi truck trailers twisted, bark ripped from the trees, cars thrown hundreds of feet, even asphalts been pulled from the road.
The person taking the video is like.. "...I got time." 😂
Wow.
I live in Cali, so glad we dont have deal with Tornadoes. Earthquakes i can deal with. 😂
SoCal gets tornados
Shiiiid f them earthquakes😂
@@tonylee3721 they only last a couple secs tho

LOOK AT HOW HIGH the house debris goes in the sky!! Do u see that?!! That could be a person WAY, WAY, WAY UP THERE, if there would have happened to have been a person IN THAT HOUSE!!! I don’t think there was , though, because I think this video would have stated that, if there was. But just can’t believe how high things get thrown upwards!! That is HORRIBLE!!
Crazy that even a weak little tornado like that can do that much damage. 😮
small doesn't mean weak.
Homeboy and his son next door just stand there watching it come in their general direction 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Not to mention the flying debris!
It's the breaking news music at the pool furniture for me 😣
It looked so vapory and wispy..was surprised how much damage it did.
Oh my God there are people standing at the bottom of the screen as the tornado approaches! Are they crazy?
Prayers for you PA.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
It’s crazy how they can jump from one house or building to another and Miss houses and buildings without even doing any damage! Mother Nature 🌬️
as a pennsylvanian myself, that is scary af
Meanwhile 2 guys are at the bottom of the screen trying to see the 🌪️ tornado through the trees.🌳
Yup, their trailer got flipped!

Second half is a little...meh.
"I just lost my home!"
"I feel your pain, my pool furniture was blown around. I may not recover from this."
Wow that is in my home county in PA..Beautiful neighborhood. I can't believe the 2 guys standing outside watching. Do they not see 🌪 the sky?
I live in Oklahoma and I know about tornadoes there in Pennsylvania at that time it didn't have enough power so that tornado lasted seconds giving it's full power which looked like ef2 are ef3 damage
be quiet, okie.
I was actually at a dance competition during this not so far from there. We got to see the tornado touch down and stuff, it didn’t come near the competition venue so it was pretty cool to see.
Those are some nice lawns.
@@bengagnon2894 Get a grip, jeez.
Wild… I feel bad for these folks. I know people give them crap for living in tornado zones, but it’s their home.
I think most places have the threat of natural disaster. I live where there's wildfires and earthquakes but would never think to move away even though some family members say it's not safe. Gotta live my life!

That 'nado had something against THAT house.
And that’s a small tornado.
That couple just casually watching houses get destroyed like they know the nados path is insane 😅
So take care my dear friends 😊
This is why tornados absolutely terrify me.
What was that that got obliterated?
A brick wall on the side of a pool and a shed
Man the fact tornados jump is wild to me.. tornados literally will level a home then jump over the neighbor then land on the other neighbors home next to him.
Was this like out of nowhere, no warning type thing?
Even a mild tornado can tear siding and shingles from a house. Most of the debris appears to be siding and roofing material. My guess is that this is F1 damage. And it can cause serious structural damage, making a property uninhabitable.
No way would I live there knowing tornados are possible
