    The true Latin Hustle of the 70's. What great times at the Limelight in Ft. Lauderdale. No drugs or drinking, just dancing the night away. We need to bring this back!!!

    Great footage. I'm sure Latin Hustle is a major contributor to Salsa dancing, really differentiating it from ballroom mambo. Thanks for sharing amigo!

    Hustle is one of the most beautiful dances I have ever seen, I just hope some day someone make a documentary about the true origins of latin hustle dancing to educate and give the proper credits to the creators of the dance and the latin contribution during the disco era.

    I beg to differ, that is the Original Lain/Spanish Hustle, and that is how we did it in the early 70's, where do you think everyone else got it from... The Hustle was created in the South Bronx and started being Nurtured in late 1972, before it became a 6 step and turned into what you see here. Not sure why you say it's not the Latin Hustle, but it's obvious to me that you were not a part of the Hustle Craze of the early 70's, if you were, you would know that is exactly what they are doing. :)

      You are correct!
      Puerto Rican youth invented the Hustle.
      No "Ifs" "Ands" or "Buts" about that.
      It is part of Puerto Rican culture!

      Ok, but this is not the best song to show it..Its more like Samba than Hustle...I teach 7 styles...

    • @GordonBeckles
      @GordonBeckles 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@outwiththem you may teach 7 styles but... like many people within the studio system and the "industry" you may be one of those people who loves the physicality of the dance, yet is completely unfamiliar with the music. I suggest you approach the music and dances... from a real world perspective. Sociological, Historical, Cultural, Ethnomusicological understanding WILL enhances your dancing skills.

      it seems you may have to educate some of these people on true origins of this dance among Puerto Rican, Black, Italian, and working class youth during the 70s... along with some basic distinctions between dance as an Industry (teaching people to "portray" dances) versus real world social dancing were people learn to "sing with their body".

    • @GordonBeckles
      @GordonBeckles 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am sorry @outwiththem, you may feel uncomfortable with this song, however, with what you're saying, it seems like you're unfamiliar with Philly and Euro Disco (and the later Chicago House, Detroit Techno and Smooth "Four on the floor" R&B). These are music genre that Hustle dancing developed within. Of course it is "like Samba" as the dominant rhythms that contributed to the development of Hustle dancing tend to be "tropical" or to be more precise Afro-Latin/Caribbean.
