I am 100% disabled with a neuromuscular disease. I remember the first time I was introduced to these films, books, Tolkienverse. They forever changed me, giving me a world to escape to. A world where one small man can make a difference. A land just like ours, that is losing its magic to machinery and destruction. I am reminded to "Don't let go." Hold on to your Shire. Hold on to your love of one another. And, live your life filled with wonder and adventure. Don't let anyone put you down or kill your dreams simply because your happiness outshines theirs. "Be careful of your feet. You never know where they might take you."
To my brother, all it took was one night at a movie, and you changed me forever. You will always be my older and wiser Gandalf. I love you.

Tolkien was way ahead of his time. He was a master of the written word. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world Dr Tolkien.
He was a Soldier first. Don’t forget his service in the First World War. He fought in the battle of the Somme, only being pulled from the front when he contracted Trench Foot and was sent to hospital in Birmingham. He would never be fit to return to the front again.
@@user-uc6ez8wn9k As a combat veteran with 10 years of service as a cavalry scout in the Army and 3 tours of duty to Iraq and Afghanistan I’m very well aware that he was a soldier . having read a great deal about his experiences in war myself. I simply stated that he was a master of the written word and ahead of his time. I was referring to his books, not his memoirs.

Just sleep well, eat healthy food, regularly physically exercise, stay away from toxic people and stay with nice people to support each other. How difficult it is to lead a life like that

Amazingly well put
Thankfully, the option to 'work from home' allows control over how you spend your time, and with whom. I go to the office twice a week, and it's terribly difficult to suffer through the stupidity and shallow nature of people, but I have found that by limiting contact with non-essential persons in my life outside work to the absolute maximum, there is peace, tranquility and pleasure in everyday things. Finally at 35, I feel like I have the control, and it is only the beginning as I will soon be saying goodbye to corporate nonsense and live completely off the beaten track. And this movie played a part in my decision.
I just think the Tolkien Universe (or his legendarium) is one of the most beautiful works the world has ever seen. I just feel such a sense of magical tranquillity and peace when I hear, read, or watch anything related to his universe. (Well, apart from that shite called rings of power, but that's another discussion). His works and the later works of others involved in bringing his universe to life through film, music, and art have created something that is eternally timeless. It resonates with people on a deeply spiritual level, and it's beautiful. Every time I watch the final Grey Havens scene in The Return of The King, I cry, and then when the end credits roll and Into The West plays....I become an emotional mess...and I know a lot of people do the same...because we don't want it to end.

I grieve for the lost friends in this incredible story as if they were my own. A yearning to be able to walk the lanes in the shire or by the little river that flows there. Would you like to walk with me to Bagend to sit with Bilbo and Frodo by the fire and share a mug of ale , cheese and homemade bread still warm from his oven?

I have read most of the books for many years now, many times over. And I never get tired of reading them. When I first saw the trailer of Lord of the rings I could’nt belive it. What a thrill that was.

I close my eyes and drift away somewhere that has green rolling hills and a world I wished existed so bad but the real world is boring a dull.
Often life is boring a dull. But that's just how you perceive it at the moment, because life is also a magical adventure at times, when you have the ability to see and do all the little side-quests and random encounters that the world actually offers on a day-to-day basis.
You have to feel good and have the right mindset to be able to embrace it

This longing feelin is just too strong
This reminds me of a part in the Silmarillion that talks about what Ilúvatar gifted to the race of men. “Therefore he willed that the hearts of men should seek beyond the world and should find no rest therein; but they should have a virtue to shape their life, amid the powers and chances of the world, beyond the music of the Ainur, which is as fate to all things else; and of their operation everything should be, in form and deed, completed, and the world fulfilled unto the last and smallest”.
C.S. Lewis wrote (paraphrasing):. If you have a longing that nothing in this world can satisfy, it means you were made for another world.
I just love what scenes like these do to the imagination.

It was the best fairytale movie ever made classic battle between good and evil almost seemed like strider represented Jesus himself Gandalf as God and Nicholas the elf as Michael the ark angel along with the Hobbits to help guide and protect to save all man kind from the devil and his demons and what made this movie so great was is to always have faith when all hope seems lost because at the end good will always prevail over evil just like the Bible teaches us
The Lord of the rings was really a reflection of tokens life and the changing of Britain, he started out in Wiltshire countryside, very rural and old world thatched cottages and old pure way of life, then his time at Oxford was reflective of Rivendale a place of history grand architecture and wisdom wisdom, and mordor was his time in the heartlands of Britain with its steel Mills belching out flames and smoke casting a shadow over the cities, his reflections were of an old time of Britain being small farming communities being inexorably drawn into a world of unending industry pollution and strife, all this was set in a beautiful place called Middle earth in his books
Well Tolkien was a Christian so, it completely makes sense. God gave him an imagination like no other exactly for this, may his works and masterpieces bring more people to Christ ❤️

@@JohnDuffy-bq8wg Same, but I understand why they left his section out. Film-wise, it would have thrown the pacing completely out of wack and made it so much longer than they'd been allocated. Although, they could have had him make an appearance of some sort I suppose. Though that might have been more out of the lore than other options.

The space between. Between home, safe, cozy comfort (the Shire); and the dangerous wild unknown out there. Those mountains look so cold and remote, mysterious and frightening, with who knows what lying in wait for us.
But out there is where the stories are. That dangerous terrifying mystery is where we go through gut-wrenching things with other people, creating bonds of love and trust that stay deep inside us. Because I know the story of the fellowship of the Ring, it’s enticingly beautiful in this image. But if I was in the story and it hadn’t happened yet, would the mountains look like anything but a ‘yeah no THANK you, I’m just gonna spend my days reading by the fire and drinking at the pub with old friends who I more or less like, and eating good food’? I ask myself, though I’m pretty sure of the answer. Not 100% sure though.
