Thanks for adding that extra hole to share your wisdom. You saved us a lot of them. If you left that tape on the drill bit as a "flag," you can see depth better. The flag whisks the sawdust away when you get close.
Thank you! Watching your video and minutes later I now have a strap on my ukulele. I appreciate the tip about placement on the neck and it hangs very nicely. I will re-record my song now, with the benefit of being able to relax my right side which had tension due to the need to hold the ukulele in place. "The Lies, a song" on my channel which came to me this past year, in response to the media and many other organizations of authority, and the way I see them, if you're interested. :)
you can attach the strap with only one button (presumably at the opposite end from the neck). The other end can be attached above the frets with a string (like a shoe lace string) which you just loop thru the hole on that end of the strap. He mentioned that and he said that HE preferred not having the strap attach here because he felt it might interfere with his left hand when playing. I also play guitar and have always had the strap attached like this on this end with no problem so you might try doing it that way and if you don't like it then you can always get another strap button online or at (for example) Guitar Center and attach it behind the neck of the ukulele as he demonstrated
Hi Kalani, thanks for showing us this video! Question? People said the Ukulele does not have the structure on the sound box side to support an end pin, is this true? What do you think if will add a washer on the back side of the screw and add a wood screw nut on the other side ( of course, one has to stick their hand through the sound hole to put the nut in).
@@Froggypants-x_x Thanks for your comment! I have a very inexpensive Lanikai Ukulele with very thin body sides. I was thinking it wouldn't survive long with a 1 inch screw in it, but I peeked in and saw that yes, it has a block in the end! It doesn't look as large as that screw, but the strap will only need to support a one and a half pound instrument. You gave me confidence to try.
It's always terrifying to see how some people pass on their strange ideas. But it's new My thumb is in the place where you attach the belt pin, when playing in high positions. But I have a similar, glorious idea. Why don't you fix the strap pin on the fingerboard in the position of the 12th fret? It's much easier!
Great video! I did 2 vids for guitar but not sure about uke. Not sure if beginning level Mahalo ukulele would be strong enough to support the end pin at the bottom of the body. Any thoughts? Also, I see what you mean about needing a new Phillips screwdriver!
Not sure why you are putting the pin into the neck!!! Not a good idea: The neck is pretty delicate and your chording hand thumb will hit the pin when you go for the higher frets! A better option is to put the pin into the heel of the neck joint from the back of the guitar. yesm angle is odd, but this is better than breaking the neck. Some Acoustic guitars have the pin on the underside of the heel. Better for the neck integrity but the pin still gets in the way of your chording hand.
Before posting a comment like this why not look carefully and see that he has to put it on the neck its a slim ukulele its obvious if it puts it in the other way the ukukele will crack !

This is awesome and I was so nervous while you drilled the holes!

You are a GENIUS, Thank you. 🙂👊
Happy to find this because this is entirely new to me. I’ve never drilled before so I’m completely unsure on how to do this
This instructional is very well done! Thank you for sharing
Great demo! Not too wordy and was to the point.
Link to the strap buttons purchased?
excelent man... i should have done this to my uke years ago.
Thank you for this Sir! Really helpful
thanks
Thank you; it worked perfectly with my 2 ukes!
thanks for this! Will the sound quality be affected what with the holes and all?
Not at all on mine
This video was very helpful! It was exactly what I needed. Thank you :)
This was so helpful I just got my ukulele
It sounds so easy, but I'm afraid I'm gonna screw it up. I have a montecito fender and when I'll drill I'm afraid the varnish will crack.
Elsa Lebas masking tape will help
SCREW it up. hahha get it? pun!

Where did u get your pins from?
@@mochi_4726 a seller on eBay had a strap and pin set.
thank you !
Thanks!
very helpful 😊
Are you sure that putting a nut on off-axis of the neck makes the uku not going horizontally ?
i just got mine it seems so confusing
my uke came with only one strap button (bottom) ???

Doing this and then getting a vintage leather uke strap on mine :)
Aloha and thank you for this. What do you think of putting the pin in the back of the ukulele where the block of wood that extends into the body is?
Where did you order the end pins?
Hi Kalani, can I do the same with a regular classic guitar?
I think so

Tell-d Truth al ukes have and end block unless it’s like a very cheap one

I'm scared to f this up so i'll damage my ukulele :/
Wouldn’t that affect the sound of the ukulele specially after you made a second hold? Just wondering. I know some come with the strap holder.

Hello. Thank you for this video. Where can I order the bag of end pins?
Shauna Hagedorn you can order it on a lot of music sites or from your local music store. maybe you can order it on amazon or something like that
y’all i had the pins in the “ookalaylay” i’m just dumb as fuck so i didn’t know how how to put the strap on the pins 😂 it’s honestly pathetic

Cheers for the knowledge. You need a better screwdriver, bud.
What a Pratt, he drills a hole in the wrong place and shows us his mistake. You need to do your homework and get it right first time
