If you aren't drunk when you first start watching this video, you will be by the time you get towards the end! Thanks for the video, I just might check 'em out. My craftsman took a dump the other day.
How big is the opening port for the grass catcher? A small opening will not let the grass flow from the machine to the grass catcher bag.. A small opening will clog up big time.
I recently bought a YardMax 2860 mower, and it is TERRIBLE. I returned the YardMax mower because the FWD is INSANE. The wheels go crazy the moment they touch the ground. Also, the engine claims it is powerful with 201cc, but that is simply not the case. After less than a half hour, the side discharge was clogged and the mower lacked the power to push the grass out. Also, the engine was brand new and took two pulls to start the first time. But after a half hour of using the mower, it took EIGHT PULLS to start the mower. The mower was "Locked" at times with the pulls. And the "speed" of the mower was slow, even on its highest setting it wasn't as fast as the Cub Cadet mower I own. Also, the YardMax mower could NOT be pulled backwards. The black rubber thing at the bottom in back got tangled up in the mower and you were dragging the entire mower without help from the wheels.
The 2860 is in fact only 163cc, as they market it. It appears you are confusing it with the 2760, which is the model I have. The 2760 is RWD, which is far better than FWD. Even on the slowest setting, it is plenty fast, all the way to 6 is nearly a jog to keep up. I have not encountered a single instance where it did not start on the first pull and it has no issue pulling backwards. Sounds like you may just have a lemon one there.
@@PrimitiveGuyStuff I went and checked my order from Wal-Mart. It says I ordered the Yard Max YG2860. The specifications claim the engine is 201cc. This info saying 201cc is even on the mower itself. This version is the Front-Wheel Drive version, not the Rear-Wheel Drive version. I can tell you the Front-Wheel Drive on it is CRAZY!!! Even my mom eventually said to me, "Michael, why is that mower bouncing all over every time the wheels touch the ground?" I said, "I have no idea." The YG2860 took me two pulls to start the first time I started it. I thought to myself, "Well, it is just the first time, so may be it needs two pulls." But, after a half hour the YG2860 was clogged, so I needed to pull out the grass. When I tried starting the mower, it took EIGHT pulls! And several of them were truly terrible the way the mower was outright "locked" with the pull. The FWD version that is the YG2860 is slower on its highest setting than the mowers I have had over the years from Cub Cadet, Snapper, and Craftsman. The current Cub Cadet model I have is the SC300HW. This Cub Cadet mower lets me get the yard done in 3 Hours 30 Minutes almost every time. But the YardMax YG2860 model required me to take nearly six hours! If you look at the videos from the gal called "Chicanic," I have to say she is correct when she says 'YardMax" is just a cheap imitator of Honda. Chicanic simply says, "Trust me. Don't buy these mowers." I have to say that I agree - at least based on my experience with the YG2860. Chicanic had similar things to say about foreign unknown brands such as Senix and Pulsar. I was considering some of those because they cost less and I don't have a lot of money. I'm glad to hear your RWD version is better, though.
That’s what I thought too, but upon research, I keep finding stuff like this: “You should change the oil in a new lawn mower after the break-in period, which can be after a few hours of use. New engines use oil to allow the rings and piston to wear in and seat properly.” If this engine is an exception to the rule, that would be great though! I should note, my dad is also a source of this information, not just the internet! But if you have any info, it’s greatly appreciated!
The sticker covering the gas cap says: "failure to fill ENGINE SUMP with oil before starting engine will result in permanent damage" should I mix oil and gas and pour it in the gas tank?
This is my 2nd year using this mower and it cuts great but it CLOGS! It will not spit the grass with or without the bag. Do anyone have the same problem or there something I'm missing.
@@cjayjr7706 It is the plastic part that covers the opening where grass clippings normally exit from. So the mower blade will mulch the grass rather than throw it out the exit port.

Seriously WTF $350.00?!?! Brother I just bought this EXACT SAME mower from walmarts website for $150.00!!! 😮 Have the receipt I can show. This blew my mind when I found it an instantly bought it 😂
@@PrimitiveGuyStuffI just bought it too for $150 today and it already shipped! Got the 3 year Allstate Walmart insurance along with it. It is going in and out of stock. Sold by "Decor Conceptz LLC". Shall see when it shows up. I still cant believe it. Too good to be true.
Lemme tell ya something. STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING CALLED YARDMAX! I bought one around 5-15-23 and used it only about 5-6 times. It is made with extremely cheap components. The plastic knobs for closing and locking the handle broke off. The height adjustment broke off. The front wheel broke as I was using it and the axle came out off place. The plastic for the undercarriage cracked in two requiring its complete removal. That cover the belt and pulleys for the self propel assembly. Needles to say, that can no longer by used. Surprising no engine issues (yet) and it will cut serious grass-provided you have patching up skills. THIS POS IS CHEAP FOR A REASON AND YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR!
Thank you you made my unboxing so easy!
Glad I could help!

Remember some people that make bad comments could be a competing company
Does it have an oil drain plug underneath? My last mower ( Snapper ) did not and you had to turn it upside down to change oil.
No drain plug. The owner's manual shows tilting the mower on its side for draining.
How big is the opening port for the grass catcher? A small opening will not let the grass flow from the machine to the grass catcher bag.. A small opening will clog up big time.
It does appear to be fairly small, but I never use the collection bag, as I always mulch.
Pull out handle goes up higher...there is a place for it. Look at the picture in the manual.
Yes, I overlooked that and that's what I get for not reading the directions...lol
How do you get the mower to catch the grass? My catcher and side are connected but the grass is pouring out.

How long before the first oil change? Is it the regular 5 hours? The manual says not for awhile, which has me so confused
I usually change mine yearly.

The sticker covering the gas cap says: "failure to fill ENGINE SUMP with oil before starting engine will result in permanent damage" should I mix oil and gas and pour it in the gas tank?
No!! It’s not a 2 cycle engine!!
You mean 4 cycle...Gas and oil are not mixed.
Right, I said it’s not a 2 cycle! (I am new to this stuff)
Just put a capful of Marvel mystery oil, in the oil,and in the gas tank with each fill up, and it will make the engine last a lot longer.
That's good to know! @@michaeleverett2650

I only use the mulch attachment that keeps the clippings within the blade housing.

Do I have to buy oil to put in when unboxed before start? What kind??
It uses SAE 10W-30 and holds 16.9 oz (.5L)
It comes with a bottle of oil to add to the engine.

how do you know when it haves enough gas??
You can see the gas level at the opening.
How much gas does it hold??

@@PrimitiveGuyStuff where ? What do you mean?

Whats the weight of the mower
88lbs
How is mower holding up

WHY WANT IT ROLL BACK
I Google information about yard max and from what I read,They are a newer company that started around 2015 .
There are several people that complain about quality, but mine has been working great and always starts on the first pull.
Thank you very much

From an engineers point of view Yardmax is a piece of trash. However it compresses into a 2'×2' cube very nicely.

Sounds like a cracked engine case. That's certainly not normal.
