"Dogma blinded us to the path of balance, and gradually we allowed our pride to corrupt us. The greater control we sought, the further we fell into ruin." Many might think of the sith when hearing this, but it perfectly describes the jedi as well. In fact, the Sith code is just an offshoot of the jedi code, built in direct opposition to its imbalance. But the direct opposite of imbalance is just more imbalance. The tale of the Zeffo is a warning to all dogmatic tribes, clans, and cults.
I don't believe the zeffo are extinct maybe they're still hiding in the unknown regions hopefully I'd hate for yet another species' history and culture and art to be lost
The Zeffo Sage's remarks about hubris and control mirrors the fall of the Jedi Order in the old Republic exactly. They had reached a point, like the Zeffo, where they sought more and more control over their Jedi, and their dogma, their religious laws and traditions, had replaced morality and balance, and in the end it was their ruin and downfall (through Anakin - since instead of teaching him balance they tried to control him, and the more they tried to control him the more they pushed him away)
This is so not true. The three tombs tell of three moments in Zeffo history. The Tomb of Eilram showcases how the Zeffo revered and respected the Force - their Life Wind. It was a shrine to the deceased, built on a place where the Sages were taught how to wield the Life Wind's powers. The Tomb of Eilram represents what he Jedi lived prior to their downfall. Wisdom and honour. The latter tombs represent a fall from this ideal. The Sages turned from wise followers of the Life Wind to callous slave drivers, drowning in pride and arrogance, corralling the weak and burning their lives to build on the glory of the leaders and masters of their people. Cordova expresses with great sorrow this shift in Zeffo society. Then there is Kujet. When pride, cruelty, arrogance and tyranny became the norm for the Zeffo sages, it was only a matter of time until the Dark Side became the true master of their practice, and then Kujet did exactly what the Sith attempt to do: kill all those who did oppose him, or would oppose him, or represent a threat to his power. To concentrate power in the hands of only one ruler, and snuff out the flames of opposition. That is the last step before doom. Balance is what came before: honour, openness with the world and the truth of the Force. Imbalance, what followed: greed and pride, hubris and cruelty and the Dark Side that consumes all, those who oppose it and those who practice it
6:46 the Zeffirelli’s said “Dogma” it just reminded me of the Clone Trooper Dogma mostly shown in the CW S4 Umbara arc. It’s highly unlikely that they are the same but I just wanted to share that it reminded me of him :)
I honestly just *love* the Zeffo, despite seeing one only in a vision. They really found new interesting ways of wielding the Life Wind/Force. I doubt Jedi could use it to create a small light rock tornado encircling an entrance. It's a good thing Palpatine never checked Dathomir. If he learned to turn somebody into stone.... Yeesh. The way the Zeffo don't think of it as a power(as a force), but of something that binds us, gives us life, air. What happened to them is exactly what came of the jedi and they somehow served as teachers to Cal. Really makes one wonder about 2 things: 1.)are they still somewhere? If yes, than I wish we meet them. 2.) Were there any Zeffo Jedi? An awesome combination!
Except the Zeffo are far better written than the rakata. Zeffo weaves seamlessly into the Star Wars continuity without upsetting it too much. The rakata were too powerful, and all galactic history was recontextualised around their existance. The Zeffo give off an aura of having been just as powerful, but their far off existance only has bearing on current events because one scholar saw the parallels between the history of the fall of the Zeffo and the events that were unfolding in his own lifetime. It is subtle, and masterfully executed
I like how each of the 3 legendary sages represents various stages of the Zeffo's decline as a civilization, from honoring the wisest among them maybe just a bit too much (the 1st sage, eilram's tomb, a converted place of meditation and learning), to becoming little more than petty god kings who ruled through harsh dogma (Miktrull's overly opulent tomb, built through slave labor, a monument to unchecked vanity), only to fully descend into megalomania and unimaginable cruelty. (Kujet the third 'great' and horrible sage, completely consumed by darkness)
*Eno Cordova was right about one thing,* we seriously NEED more Star Wars content NOT focused on the jedi or sith, there's literally TONS of unique Foce based traditions and perspectives on it to explore in the big wide galaxy. I’m 90% sure that the zeffo were originally gonna tie into the duel of the fates script. Not directly, but quietly setting up and hinting that Tor Valum was the last of the zeffo, heavily corrupted by the dark side of the force. But once TROS was well underway, the lore introduced in fallen order adapted into its own thing.
The only things I didn't like about the game was how the maps were confusing like on zeffo, the fact the storyline wasn't that long, and there was no fast travel system. But other than that it was an amazing game.
It weird because a game like this NEEDS a fast travel system and those meditation points seem perfect for that role, ofcourse you have to get to them first to unlock them but once that's done just let players use then to port around the place. That said oddly enough Zeffo itself was probably the least bad of all the planets, what with the ice caves sort of acting like a hub area that connects many of the major areas of the map through those lifts and ice slides.
Thank you for actually making an informative explanation video about the Zeffo! Instead of just a stupid 'walkthrough' video of the character running around aimlessly, I had to go through way too many of those trying to find information about them / videos like this.
@Bombastic Reminds me of the end of the 2nd season of Rebels.... all the Jedi and Sith were turned to stone and ash around the Sith Temple - a place of great darkness, just like Dathomir. Perhaps something similar was used by Kajit to kill all his enemies?

Fallen order 2 will most likely be set around finding out what happened to the prothians. I mean Zepho lol. Cal can't be going around interfering with anything to do with the original trilogy or it'll be weird and ret conning Luke being the last jedi. I think Cal will go where no one has ever been in search of answers, ans either die or resurface after ep 6
I think it would make sense that they go to the unknown regions, the sage could pick several zeffo and attempt to rebuild the species away from the dark sages like kujet.
I think we can piece together the story of the Zeffo as explained here. The unnamed Zeffo sage when in the force vision on Bogano says that they were a once prosperous and technologically-advanced civilisation. Some of their rulers included the sages Eilram and Miktrull, who were (I assume) benevolent rulers. Then came Kujet, who was power hungry and established himself as a dictator. He ordered the destruction of all but one or few Astriums across the Zeffo civilisation so that no-one else could gain the power of the Life Wind (force) and the mysteries of the vaults. All who opposed him were ruthlessly dealt with, and the Zeffo people fell into darkness, marking the decline of a once great people. One Zeffo sage seemed to have left some type of recording in the Bogano vault for whoever would perceive it - in this case, Cal and likely Cordova. He went with the remnants of his people to the great unknown, which could either be something literal, like the Unknown Regions, or something abstract, like death or greater. The sage could have left the Zeffo homework with his people to the Unkbown Regions, leaving behind Kujet's tyrannical legacy, or could have let the civilisation slowly dwindle out, none the wiser. While we do have major aspects of the story, some of it is still a mystery. Maybe we could gain more insight in a future Star Wars project, maybe even an Easter egg or sub-plot for Jedi Survivor.
Alright, I need to say something. The Zeffo right? In the later movies it was revealed that Snoke was a genetic creation built by the sith by lord sidious, something that looked.. alien while also had human qualities. What if, now just hear me out. What if Snoke was just a crossbred abomination built as an imperfect clone of sidious. Built as a mistake that sidious said “eh, he looks cool. I’ll use it to help turn Ben solo to the darkside.” Thus, “my boy. I made Snoke.” Finally make sense. I’ve been trying to find a place to say this without people saying my little theory is stupid.
Well Snoke seems imperfect and very well might be an attempt to make a new clone body for Sidious. But I don't it's true. So Snoke really doesn't seem to have a reason to exist
Nuff Mad that’s what I mean by it being a genetic mistake, like it was imperfect. I mean the “origin” of Snoke is that he just appeared one day to Ben. Who knows what his actual origins are!
Anyone else feel like this could be a contender for some sort of "darkest video of the channel" competition? Cuz this was way darker than I thought it would be
Those stone statues of the zeffo crumble if you walk into them which suggests that they might not be stone but somehow are the zeffo themselves almost as though the dark sage had drained the life right out of them.
4:50 Nice shot there Andrew, got some real selfie action going on there XD. Also, really interesting vid, I didn’t realise that the sage destroying the astriums killed all the Zeffo in the tomb
That’s not what killed them... he just used the astrium to do that and destroyed the others to make it impossible to access the vault, so that no one would learn about the sage who led some survivors into the unknown regions
Hey bro, here after episode 6 of Ahsoka. Kujet is talked about in the runes on the temple on Peridia that Baylan and Shin see. We are about to see some Zeffo or Kujet in live action!!!

to be honest this really goes well with recent zeffor easter egg in ahsoka. So yeah we may see more of them in the future
It's really dark and kinda scary like a ghost story
Just now noticing how the Zeffo species look similar to what weve seen the wills of the force look like, in clone wars yoda's last arc i believe.
Not really
Am I the only one who thinks the zeffo body (mainly head structure) remind me of protheans?
The remains of the zeffo look similarly to the reamains of ancient sith or jedi in one of the star wars reboles episodes.
One of my favorite videos of yours Bombastic, thank you :)
Love the videos Andrew thank you
That was a thoroughly enjoyable and well made video I’d love to see more
Alright, I need to say something.
That’s a really good theory, good job.
Monarch Studios V781 I think sidious is half palps half attack helicopters 🚁.
@@atomcat_v6664 all we know is that Snoke was created in Exegol. Nothing else. And at this point I personally don't really care about him
So the astrium Cal found was the same astrium that Kujet held in his hands once. That's cool
As a player of Star Wars The Old Republic I see clear conections to what happened on Ziost here... Interesting.
I would love to see more lore on the Zeffo
Zeffo are cool
But have you heard the tragedy of the Rakatan Infinite Empire?
Hey bro, here after episode 6 of Ahsoka. Kujet is talked about in the runes on the temple on Peridia that Baylan and Shin see. We are about to see some Zeffo or Kujet in live action!!!
I think JFO2 will feature more of the Zeffo race and Cal´s search for them in a possible attempt to find them and possibly recruit some for a new Jedi Order
Zeffo look like protheans
Yup this is a darker side of Star Wars and about the ancient stuff because I would like to see a lot more in the aincent dark past then just dark side last hope I want to see more
Tbh whenever I’m in that tomb I whip out my lightsaber and just destroy those statues and they disappear, as a result of the second massacre
omg i never noticed that the thing that happened to the stormtroopers on Kashyyyk was the same thing that happened to most of the Zeffo ... wow, i wanna play through fallen order again to see if i can find out more about that now...
What stormtroopers on Kashyyyk?
Wow this video really messed with my megalophobia lol
The story reminds me of clone wars with the father son daughter, one who uses the dsrk side of the force, one who uses the light and such, I am hoping to hear more about the other 2 Zeffo sage's and hear what they thought and such
I love this Rodian mod. I've always wanted to play a Rodian sith/jedi, but cowardly gamr devs never let me
That does explain a LOT, no doubt about that.
Enjoyed watching this interesting vid about the Zeffo.
Man I love these new lore videos that you make
This might be my favorite video of yours
The Zefos look a lot like the fallen worriers in Malacor
When i got to this place and was exploring it struck me as familiar. These "ash statues" are exactly like what was left of people after one of the Emperors absorb the force from an entire planet to become immortal.
I thought so too. And the ability itself is also canon, so it may very well be that
The atsrean is probably like a holocron but instead of connecting Jedi it connects the zefo
I can’t believe 28 people actually disliked
Make it 26
PhantomUnknown make that 28
U know what screw it i give up
PhantomUnknown I made 4 more TH-cam accounts make that 32
Maybe it was because there needed to be more Zeffirelli’s that dabbed
These statues look a lot like the husks left behind by the Nameless in the High Republic
I hope Respawn dives deeper into the Zeffo species in the JFO sequel because there's so much potential with their story.
When he gives the lightsaber to the night sister it looked just like mine the first time I did dat
6:18 “...Cal experiences a force vision that SHEDS SOME LIGHT on Zeffo’s future...”
- proceeds to ignite lightsaber
Me: nice...
"The great unknown" being the new galaxy that Thrawn and ezra ended up in? (there are sith runes that talk about Kujet in the TV show Ahsoka)
itd be interesting to know when those events took place, since theyre called an ancient species this mustve been a loooong time ago, maybe even before humans became one of the dominant intergalactic species
4:33 the one in the left so be dabbin 🥶
