Hey there, Mr. Executive Board Repair. I just want to thank you for all the great content you've been uploading on your channel. Since I first started watching your videos I had ZERO understanding of what the heck you were talking about when reading schematics. Now, after many many moons and video analyzing, I can truly say that I'm starting to spraken your schematic lingo. Thank you Louis Rossmann!
Temporarily hardwiring a logic signal like the power ENable line is a perfectly legitimate practice IMO. In the old days, people used a "Logic Pulser" to send test signals and observe the results. It's probably safer to use a series resistor instead of wiring to the power rail directly -- less chance of damage if something else is trying to drive the line in the opposite direction. (That said, sometimes you need the raw power rail to override that other signal, and devices tend to be more tolerant of it than the datasheet would seem to indicate.) Love your videos, keep it up!
Hi Louis, I recently use to find out (searching for a resistor) that you can rotate board view schematics clockwise pressing "R" and than "Enter". And I think it is more useful than rotating the actual board. And you are write it always opens in a wrong view. Keep the nice work.
Hey man, your videos is really great, you helped me regain my faith that my macbook air its not dead for good after a huge glass of milk... I have a question to make, mine is showing that the charger is working (it goes from green to orange and says there) but the board is not starting.. can i do anything without replacing anything like you do? unfortunately you are in NY and i am in Greece! I was there 1 month ago, and planning to come back so if by then its not fixed i hope you will get it!
Hi Louis. Thanks a lot for you videos, they're very illustrative. I'm trying to fix my 820-2330-A (Late 2008 15" MBP) and I wanted to know where did you get the Schematics. After googling I've seen a site selling it for 11$ but it seems like a scam site, so just wanted to know a safe place to get the schematics. Thanks a lot.
Buy boards and whatever you steal off another board go to mouser.com or digikey.com and buy whatever it is you used, but buy ten of them. You will natrually build a stock of parts that you are prone to using.
hi louis, tnx for these great videos. can u tell me if for fixing the wire, do u used some glue or the wire is a bit hard and keep itself it's position ? and on 35:34 isnt that corner trace broken?
If it was I doubt it would have worked :X probably a blob of solder or something. These all go through the ultrasonic again before they go out the door to get rid of the flux and other crap. Key is to use quality solder, good flux, and do it right. If you're really doing some fucked up shit use conformal coat, they have these green pens full of it at allspec, but don't use it to adhese the wire to the board. Use it to insulate the trace afterwards.
Louis Rossmann tnx again for replying. never heard about that conformal coat, when i have to repair some track i use the solder mask, but this looks more good. for flux i have kingbo, amtech 559 uv tpf, amtech 223, violin rosin and so on. atten 8586 with good tips. now have to buy armscope , ultrasonic cleaner, a proper multimeter with good tips, as mine are too big for these little macbook pins.
It came with a hot plate I bought for Samsung phone repair. I've never used it successfully for that purpose, but I do use it for this. The right wire is the wire that works for you! Buy a bunch of spools and find out what works.
Hi Louis, I have the exact the same board, it runs fine but with 100% kernel_task - tested with kgb topcase and trackpad + cables but stil, cant get rid of this shit. Any ideas?
Hi mate I have a macbook air 2010. When i turn on- it sounds, caps lock lightens, the screen comes but remains black. Someone said to update my software and video firmware. How can i update it since I have no video on my macbook air. Pls suggest
+Reymin Don Couldn't fix it, either give me value of board plus $100-$200 to replace it or take it back at no charge since I didn't fix it. I never let them think all boards are fixable. Or sell data recovery for $100.
Every year has slightly different length wifi antenna wire, different webcam, etc. The polarizer is the same for every year, but the entire assembly is always different. I am usually an encyclopedia of compatibility but since I never replace entire assemblies on airs I have no idea what works with what.
You can damage your board so if you are not sure, don't try it even though the LVDS cable fits, it can also make you trouble with the backlight when reducing or adding brightness, telling you out of experience.. puff.

This was so satisfying to watch, thank you! Great dramatic exit, by the way - I like how you say the video is about to cut out, and indeed it does :D
Great session of troubleshooting and board repair...Thank You !!
2014: I love youtube. 2021: We're getting a divorce.
LOL at 3:02 fuckedair directory made my day (:
Thanks
louis,
thanks, really cool video. learning a lot.
glad your clips don't have any annoying techno music. OMG.
I hate corny techno music and sped up videos with a passion.

billis Check clock signals, check pp5v_s3 power supply
Excellent video, and it must have been a killer party last night ! Woohoo!! Get some sleep !
You are the best
Excellent video and how to. One question - where can you obtain the borad layouts and logic diagrams?
guess

What is your recommendation for stocking most common fuses and resistors. I mean which ones you find yourself replacing over and over.
Buy boards and whatever you steal off another board go to mouser.com or digikey.com and buy whatever it is you used, but buy ten of them. You will natrually build a stock of parts that you are prone to using.
I found this one but I don't know is the right one wired for do the bridge
pcb soldering green flexible 0.25mm core dia 30 wag wire wrapping wrap
thanks bro:)

Hi, I'm assuming this is the R7402 resistor? if yes, it's a 1/16w resistor. Is it okay to use a 1/20W resistor with the same specs? Thanks :)
What type of microscope do you use and what does it cost?
Hi, I have a question what kind of cable are you use for do the bridge.
When you do a videos is one step more for learn good staff

What happens when you fail in repairing a board? What do you tell the customer?

HELLO SIR WE CAN HAVE THE SUBTITLES IN FRENCH THANK YOU
I have a A1466 screen assembly.
My friend has an A1369 model. Will the screen assembly work on my friend's model?
