    Great interview Steve! You really asked all the right questions, and great to hear their passion for music and quality. I sent in my first tracks a few months ago and still heard nothing then they responded to my email immediately that there was an intro form I missed filling in. Nice they're on top of things so quickly.

    Thanks for this amazing interview, Steve. Alon and Kim are really nice people! To me, understanding how the staff picks work from the MA staff makes me really happy and confident about the quality of my music and even more grateful to you and the Production Music Academy for playing such a big role in my music licensing journey. I understand the frustration of those who used to be in the “20-dollars-a-day” club back in the day, but I can testify that there’s still plenty of room for success on Motion Array even for newcomers like me. It’s not easy, but it’s totally worth it.

    Fantastic interview Steve. Not much content like this out there and to talk to Motion Array, of all libraries! I personally regard MA the best among the libraries I've been working with, both in terms of high quality standard and how nice their personnel always are. And I've joined them based on some of your videos about them. Thanks!

    Great video Stevie! I got into Motion Array sending pop and cinematic stuff, but they looked at my Metal music online and asked me if I could upload that to MA catalog. That was surprising.

    Another great video! Quick question, when you upload your preview files to Motion Array, do you upload the full length of the track as a 'preview'? Or do you upload a shortened version as a 'preview'? I am waiting to hear back about my application and I uploaded 15 seconds as a preview as opposed to the entire 1:30. I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance.

    Interesting interview. But sadly not really worth uploading or creating new music for MA anymore since they changed their payment scheme. Just doesn't equate effort put in to the amount they pay out anymore to keep you motivated to write new stuff for them. Which is a real shame as I think a lot of composers were starting to make decent income before they changed there payment system.

    • @Steven_Beddall
      @Steven_Beddall  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing! I’m finding there is a direct correlation between effort put in and payout results. Objectively speaking though, it is more challenging to create trending assets with the growing popularity of the marketplace.

    • @beautifulmusicchanneluk
      @beautifulmusicchanneluk ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Steven_Beddall i agree to a certain point. I have quite a big base of stuff on there. Before the change it was doing well in income. Now its rare i get above £5 from it, which considering the amount of downloads is really bad imo.
      If you can tap into the trending stuff and have the time to put into it then you could improve your income on it i suppose

    • @frodo3556
      @frodo3556 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@beautifulmusicchanneluk I had the same thoughts when I heard about the change of payment system, but I wanted to give it a try nonetheless. What I ended up doing was composing 5 Hip Hop tracks which were specifically tailored to the Library, by researching a lot of the music that already was doing well on there. I also had a lot of help by getting feedback from Steve and sending him my revised versions back and forth, to make sure I really get accepted.
      I got accepted in December, and my low expectations in earnings were completely proven wrong, as I earned around 100$ with those 5 Tracks in the last month, and currently I'm close to 200$ for January only. In comparison, on AJ I earn between 20-50$ per month with a catalogue of more than 100 tracks.
      As you see I got surprised a lot by the payouts on MA, so maybe this can give you a different perspective on things. My thoughts are, that maybe the success on there is also Genre-related, as my tracks are mainly Hip Hop, and that genre might be in higher demand than other stuff? Nonetheless I think it's absolutely worth it to put some time into the library and research what music is trending, at least from my experience.
      Wishing you the best of luck!

    • @AlexBtvmusic
      @AlexBtvmusic ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My story is pretty much like Frodo’s. I got into MA last August after 2 rejections. I’ve worked mainly with hip hop and pop-related material there and I’ve never had a payout smaller than $150 since then, which, comparing to other libraries I’m in like Pond5 and AudioJungle, is really good. I was lucky enough to get a staff pick in October or November and my payout has been over $200 since then. And I only have 38 tracks there. Now I got another staff pick and it took me to level 6. I can’t say how long that effect will last, but I’ll certainly send them more music in that style.
      I understand the frustration of the guys who were there in the “golden days” of MA, getting almost $1 per download or so, and I remember the day after MA changed their payment policy. It was like apocalypse in the Discord. There was so much anger and a lot of people saying they were gonna leave the library. That’s all fair.
      But the stock music market is a volatile world in essence and we must keep in mind that we sell a kind of commodity. Things are good to me now on MA, but it can turn bad any time, so it’s important to have other consistent sources of income.

    • @raftmusic6608

      Got to say the payment structure confuses me. More downloads = more % of subscirber money, but what percentage of the subscriber payments are allocated to music?

    Very insightful, thanks for sharing! I'm curious when first approaching MA, how many tracks did you initially submit? And also roughly how many cues do you create a year for MA or any other library for that matter? Do you have some sort of schedule to produce a specific amount of tracks in a set amount of time? Sorry for all the questions, I'm mostly just very curious in general how composers manage their time with producing content for libraries like MA or any other library where there aren't specific deadlines and it seems they value quantity as much as they value quality. Thanks again for the insight : ) Cheers, Ian

    This video finally pushed me to submit to Motion Array. I uploaded my audio 5 tracks 17 October and as of today 1 December I am still 1404th in the queue. I reckon I've only advanced by about 300. My position also seems to go up and down randomly so I might not even keep this place for long. Any advice?

    At the moment I can't submit tracks due to constant error messages. No matter which browser I use, there is always the error message that goes something like this: "Oops, an error occured, something went wrong and we couldn't save your product" Are you having the same experiences? I have 16 slots available and 4 under review. Would be great if someone could try it, if you are a MA artist. Of course, I've written to the content team, but haven't heard anything yet. I really want to upload more tracks. Great channel here, Stevie, love your music!

    I applied to Motion Array last week expecting a similar process to Pond5 but then I ran into the upload instructions which are not immediately understandable. I'm still tying to make sure I do a great job of it and don't throw this first impression way. Could explain why some artists get fall at the first hurdle.

      @@Steven_BeddallMany thanks for the reply but my question is more about the actual formats they expect. Eg. I see that they want a "download package" of up to 5GB with time references. I'm not sure what this means. Is it supposed to be one continuous audio file containing multiple compositions?

    I cannot join motion array because all my tracks are registered with the Ugandan P.R.O. This is because motion array only accepts tracks that are registered with particular PROs. So I am making new tracks just for them. It was a major setback, I really wish I read the upload rules first.
