  • "Magne Pater Augustine" is a Gregorian chant setting of a hymn in honor of Saint Augustine of Hippo. This is a second tune from the Ritual of the Order of Saint Augustine. The mendicant friars of the Augustinian Order, along with those whose way of life is patterned from the Religious Rule of Saint Augustine, customarily chant this hymn during the Solemnity of the Holy Father Augustine on August 28 and on April 24, on the Feast of the Conversion of Saint Augustine. The Augustinians extensively use the hymn as well during Simple and Solemn Professions of the friars and nuns, in some parts of the religious assemblies such as chapters, election of priors or prioress especially during the Kiss of Peace for the newly elected superiors.
