    Someone called me crazy for preferring blow-dried hair versus silk press because silk press is “what’s trending” but I’ve always loved the body blow-dried hair gave. I’m glad I’m not the only one!

    Oheeeeemaaaaaaa you literally have the prettiest face. YOUR BONE STRUCTURE IS TO DIE for and your skin is so clear. Like I'm always in AWEEEEEE. You're very blessed to be able to pull of any hairstyle. I love the care she put into that take down, couldn't be me I lack patience. Stunning either way

    Next time, have a leave in or conditioner saturate your hair during take down of EACH Braid Detangle as you go, not in large sections. It'll help with less tension and breakage. 🥰

    😳Yikes!! Brushing dry type 4 hair is a definite heck no! Then she added insult to injury when she used the Denman to detangle from roots to tip, I was really crying for you! 😢 Both of these practises are painful even if you're not tender-headed. What's more it just rips out our hair, causes breakage and serious damage! Ohemaa, never brush your hair dry. Only ever detangle from tips to roots when your hair is wet and well-lubricated with some kind of conditioner (deep conditioner is better for your 4 hair). Do it in small sections and take your time. ❤

      Brushing your hair when it’s dry usually causes let hair loss, for some at least, for different types of black hair it’s hit or miss

    She did a great job. Especially cuz it's been 3 months. Our hair sheds everyday so to have that all come out in one day it's to be expected to seem like a lot and there was 2 different textures in your hair. You look beautiful.

    • @pliktl

      I have tightly coiled 4c hair and I prefer to dry detangle. It works so much better than wet or loaded with conditioner for me. Different strokes 🤷

    • @bosscerena91
      @bosscerena91 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      You lose almost 200 strands of hair a day. She hasn’t combed her hair in 3 months. The shedding is a natural process. And your hair is weaker when it’s wet. It’s best to detangle your hair when it’s dry. There is a difference between detangle and combing.

    • @MintakaSaiph
      @MintakaSaiph ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Dry detangling and not going in sections makes me cry. The first detangling saves time along the entire wash and condition process. Silk press looks good. Blow dry would have looked amazing as well

    OH MY GOSH! All that beautiful hair and it’s not being cared for correctly. I am sorry that you believe that this was done correctly. My sister has growing hair fingers and I stay clear of people who don’t have that. I could just see your strands popping! My sister has your hair texture and it’s down her back, she is a beautician and she’s healed so many people bald spots fixed botched hair styles I witnessed her fixing som many women who walked in with tears and left feeling relieved I say this to say not everyone with a beauty license and kinky hair can manage others some get lazy or don’t have the patience to detangle with minimal damage or are familiar with products that is best for detangling kinky hair before washing it’s hard it takes hours to manipulate this much hair with little damage but If preservation is the goal she missed the mark in my opinion. Trimming your ends is a must however if the was little to no damage ends before she start tugging and all of a sudden you needed to get a trim it’s questionable

    It looks soo good - but I can understand why it's not your favourite if it's not your style. I'm part of the tender headed thick hair crew and tbh, I have to give myself a week after I have had braids in before I get a blow out 🫠 maybe you'd like curls for more volume next time? I also love just blowing out my hair, but tbh, I find that something about pressing keeps my hair from drying out. Maybe it's all in my head, but 🤷🏾‍♀️

    • @madf8507
      @madf8507 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Relaxing your hair damages it greatly, if you want to stop breakage I think you'd have to stop relaxing and start doing a lot of protective styles and use really good products.

    Get Paul mitchel super skinny serum. Use it wet or dry. Just a pea size amount at first and the brush will glide through. It will not make your hair oily and it won’t make it dry.

  • @SimoneBrown
    @SimoneBrown ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That is not how you detangle hair after a 3 month protective style, especially relaxed/textlaxed hair with six months of regrowth. This is why I avoid salons because 99% don't schedule time to finger detangle.

    • @Ohemaa
      @Ohemaa  ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @kmariamv

    I would also ask the stylist to work in smaller sections and possibly with a bit of a pre-poo and a bit of water as well, doing this section by section. A YTuber I follow with super long kinky hair detangled like this and said it make a difference.
    She should have also used a wide tooth comb over the denman first

    I would recommend someone more versed in styling and caring for natural hair. The detangling process should have gone MUCH smoother. No baby. You're not necessarily tender headed, I wouldn't comb dry hair like that especially after a braiddown 😢. I'd finger detangle or use some type of moisturizer as I go and/or wait till the deep conditioning. You have beautiful hair-- my hair stylist does 4c hair and would NEVER do it like this 😭

  • @VBoo459
    @VBoo459 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    No no no no. That hairstylist. Never go back to her again. Enemy of hair progress.
    When you take down, FIRST finger detangle, then drench with conditioner and gently detangle with a wide comb. OR better yet, soak your hair in water, finger detangle and then put on conditioner and detangle section by section. She’s pulling your strands out. I’m tender headed too, and it’s not about tender headedness it’s about treating your scalp better.

  • @abbb8238
    @abbb8238 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Take down process is crucial to retaining length. You have basically damage and tangle your hair, leading to more breakage, aka setback from the 3mo style. Spritz your hair with water and conditioner. Then you take your time unbraiding, section, and detangle each section. I'm sure this takedown led to more breakage and shedding, because your hair is dry and needs some TLC after takedown. It's not your fault, its the stylist for being too rough. Next time do it yourself and you'll see wonders
