    I reckon that a drum focused modular beat system outworks and outpaces any dedicated drum machine by a fair few miles. I have a MFB drum machine, a vermona DRM 1 and a behringer rd-6 and an MPC X, granted, I am nowhere near as creative as you are, but when it comes to a modular set-up there's nothing else more inspiring. The ability to patch point X to point Y and get really crazy with it is what makes up the bigger picture.

    Nice little rhythm box, but damn that's a lot of money.
    Could probably buy a TR-8S and a Pulsar-23 and still have change...
    But having been into modular since '97 myself, I understand the desire for absolute control.

    • @ryanthompson4423

    • @corrosiveabuser
      @corrosiveabuser 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ryanthompson4423 Agreed, it's not cheap at all, - Pulsar-23 is only around £1,700 in the UK,
      - I'd rather have a Pulsar-23 though, wouldn't you?
      intelligel pallette £288, erica drum £289, Squarp rample £279, noise engineering BIA £320,
      Pam's workout £230, Xaoc Zadar £260, Intelligel 1u Quadratt £70, noise engineering clap Diaz £120
      = £1,856
      current UK price for a Soma Pulsar-23 = £1,720
      - Maybe she won't be able to afford the TR-8S as well, but probably a secondhand TR-8 instead.
      Having personally spent thousands of £ on eurorack since 1998, I feel the prices just get more and more extravagant, and ridiculous, each year, - to the point that I can now see that many, now well established, boutique companies are starting to take advantage of their customers by not passing on the benefits of their own successes over the years, - not all, but many. Sure, I don't have to buy it, and I don't anymore, - but it's slowly becoming a play field, just for the wealthy hipsters.
      Still I agree, £1,720 is a lot for a 4-voice drum machine, but unlike eurorack, it is designed from the floor up, circuit by circuit, as a singular self-contained instrument, and in that process I feel Vlad has created something much greater than the sum of it's parts.
      love to ALL, feel no hate

      @cuewizchris 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@corrosiveabuser I saw this video and got all hyped up, I came close to buying a Eurorack case and start throwing money at it so I would some day have an amazing drum machine. And then I started to think, just like you did. And came to the same conclusion.
      So now there's the LXR 02 by Sonic Potions and Erica Synths, I've ordered that and I'm 100% sure that was the better way to go.

    You can use a passive mult for triggers/gates. The buffered is for CV/Audio signals. Nothing wrong with using it for triggers/gates, but the pallet case already has 2 buffered mults across the top. You could probably find something better to do with the 2hp. Or drop both the 2hp and the Diaz, use the zadar for modulating the BIA, and take the 6hp back for something else, like a second BIA. XD I dunno. It's a good kit.

    • @colindavis2113
      @colindavis2113 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m hearing a lot of people asking Behringer to make modules. They make some cool and very affordable semi modular synths to start out on. VCV rack is another suggestion. It’s free modular synth software. You can buy modules for very cheap (for the software of course) and they give you more than enough to play with off the bat. You do have to have a really good computer for it, preferably a pc. They also have all sorts of modules that are actual on the market. Good luck!

    • @ArkaHtun
      @ArkaHtun 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      i just biult the rack on modular grid .. 1499 euro RRP plus another 300 for the case ..
      i dont agree with her comment on the workflow being better than a digitakt one bit ,elektron work flow is fast when you know it well ., but the sounds youd get from that little rig would be a nice option to have ..

    • @Kaleil
      @Kaleil 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ArkaHtun For me, it's not so much the workflow is faster, but modular is different. It makes you think about inputs and outputs in different ways and that is worth the price of admission, if you can afford it.
