Centrifugal Casting of Ductile Iron Pipe - the De Lavaud Process

- All of the pipe manufactured by McWane Ductile is cast using the De Lavaud Process. In our industrial casting machines, molten Ductile iron is poured into a mold spinning at high speed. The iron flows onto the inside of the mold forming the shape of the pipe. Sparks will fly! This method of casting pipe was created in 1921 by a Brazilian named Dimitri Sensaud deLavaud. Over the years the quality and efficiency of the process has been refined.

Nice! Gravity & Centrifugal force work every time...and we know the standard force(s) involved. Now they will make EV batteries super cheap and we can save Earth! Thanks for sharing on TH-cam. Maybe this video inspired the team who have now proved its use in electric battery production. if so, then you were a part of history.
That's cool that pipe casting has influenced how EV batteries are made. Thanks for sharing. Someone tell #DIPRA.
Sir, i permit to download your video. Thanks sir...

Why doesn t molten iron sticks inside?
I'm guessing because the pipe shrinks slightly as it cools. Maybe the mold splits in two as well.
The mold has a special surface that leaves a pattern on the pipe known as penning ( I’m not sure I I spelled that right) and it helps with pipe extraction when molds get worn or just old it can be very difficult to extract the pipe.
They spray refractory material on the inner mould surface before boring the molten material inside
The mold doesn't split, we prefer a more controlled process.
Peening is part of it as it helps hold the refractory material in place. Thanks for the comment.
Sir esme cor loader and coreweel no hai
Lo siento, no entiendo tu pregunta. ¿Podrías volver a preguntar?
Whyyyy is the sound only on the left channel???
mono
Thanks for watching. We record our audio as a single-track mono source. Unfortunately, we didn't get this on both channels before we posted. TH-cam won't allow us to edit the audio at this point, so we're stuck. Hopefully you won't see this happen again.
Are they Centrifugal Cast ASTM A339 Ductile Iron Pipes ? Please reply
Thanks for your question. We follow AWWA C151 when manufacturing Ductile iron pipe. Here is a video about the standards we use in our process. th-cam.com/video/MJkh1fq_SH4/w-d-xo.html
total whight how much this pipe
Thank you for your question. The pipe we make can weigh from less than 10 to more than 200 pounds per foot. This depends on the diameter and pressure class of the pipe. Here is an excellent article we have written about pipe weight with more information and videos.
Why was the specific casting process used, including a justification of why you think this is
the case.
No
The industrial revolution was a transformative period in human history where mechanical geniuses developed incredible new techniques for molding and shaping metals. Centrifugal casting is a very efficient way to manufacture the world's most durable pipe from molten iron to precise dimensions constituently.

Thanks for the suggestion. We'll see what we can do. Please take a look at our other videos.
