  • Planet Earth is experiencing significant changes and environmental challenges that affect every corner of the world. Recent studies have confirmed that human activity has warmed the planet to unprecedented levels in the last 2,000 years, with global temperature increasing by 1.1° degrees Celsius since the period 1850-1900. This warming has led to extreme climate changes, including more frequent and intense floods, droughts and heat waves. Furthermore, biodiversity is at risk, with species facing extinction and entire ecosystems under threat. However, there are global efforts to mitigate these effects, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainability. In Latin America and the Caribbean, for example, new climate narratives are developing that seek a greater role in international decisions on climate. In Uruguay, opposition from agroecological communities has led to the cancellation of a high-speed highway project due to socio-environmental and economic concerns. These are examples of how local actions can have a significant impact on protecting the planet. The current situation is a call to action for individuals, governments and organizations to work together towards a more sustainable and resilient future.
