Ever since this came out this was the first thing I ever wanted to do if I had the opportunity to own one. Probably would be extra and buy an F1spec helmet just so I could feel like an F1 driver on my way to work! BWOAH
Helmet cam to give the view that I get. Re gearbox it is sequential paddle shift. So I use the clutch under 3000rpm but no clutch on up and downshift above that unless I want to or driving normally. There is one section I think about 8 minutes in when I turn right at junction where I don't use it. Also my other video on track shows it with no clutch. There is no faster gear change. Formula 3 gearbox and it is brutal.

They start from 160k GBP new and can go well over 200k if you like a lot of exposed carbon, carbon wheels and carbon brakes . 2nd hand they are anywhere between 100k and 130k.

How are the lights at night? Are they bright enough to allow you to drive quickly when the full beams are engaged? Also, is the vibration through the seat tolerable if you were to drive for a few hours at a time? Thanks.
The lights are a bit of a weak point when fully dark mountain roads. High beam not so bad, but I will look into a bulb upgrade as every bit helps. Vibration is fine. I drove last weekend for about 4 hours non stop across mountains and it is really good. Seating position is comfortable and the vibrations are absolutely fine. A lot of time has gone into suspension settings and it is not stiff as you think. I am surprised as to how easy it is to use as a daily if you were so inclined.

Hi. All okay. Servicing is as per high performance car. Normal work can be done with body on. If you have to get into change a few bits and pieces the body can be taken off in an hour once you know. I had an oil cooler leak and that was body off. Frequent oil changes, spark plugs etc. Brakes last forever as car is light. Tyres not so much as super soft. As engine is a Ford, it's fairly simple and not exotic with high prices.

Running your car at those low rpms when trying to accelerate and decelerate continuously is a great way to put unnecessary torque on your transmission, burn up your cats with unburnt fuel and generally put unneeded wear on your car. Try staying in the 4,000+ rpm range
Where are you based? Second hand i suspect they are probably 100,000 GBP to 140,000 but depends on whether the older 2.3 or newer 2.5. How much exposed carbon, carbon wheels, carbon brakes etc.

@@wrx450 A Baseball Cap and Sunglasses works fine to at least 150km/H. And you hear all the fantastic mechanical noises! A helmet induces so much more buffeting of the head/helmet so I don't prefer it on B-roads.
@@727skydivers the problem we have is that our roads are a bit rubbish, with lots of stones and I have already been hit many times on the helmet even in town from stones flicked up from front wheels and a few times from cars in front at speed. I would love to drive without a helmet but not worth the risk.
@@727skydivers I do not have this car but I do own a performance car and I notice a lot of pretty substantial nicks in the paint job on the front and in places where the air rubs up against a lot so somewhere like your head sticking out of the top there’s a lot of pebbles rocks and even larger debris lying all around the roads in my state so I couldn’t imagine getting a rock going through my sunglasses at 50mph. Especially if you wanna drive on a State Highway not an international one for more high speed turns where the roads are less maintained. So I would always wear a helmet it it’s probably safer to wear an open face helmet on a motorcycle rather than this car because your lower.

As I have said many times; Roads are not race tracks. Most of the roads are narrow and 50km/h speed limit. All I need is someone to complain that I was driving like an asshole and have a visit from the police. They already like to stop the Formula 1 car. No need to give them an excuse. Sequential...The dude does know how to drive it. Watch my track video for the flat upshifts and downshifts, since you think a single seater with sequential gearbox mounted to the chassis should drive like a chauffeur driven limousine.

This video was about living with it as a daily driver… this dude was getting around but putting all kinds of shock loading on the drivetrain. Do this enough and something is going to break…usually the second gear cog or it’s countershaft counterpart! The trans was clunking into an out of gears abruptly and with jolting that was far from acceptable for a daily driver. I have had plenty of hour in a formula 3 Neon. It had an unsynchronized box. I could still drive it completely smoothly using manual rev matching. And yes, so smoothly it would have been acceptable to a billionaire backseat passenger. It sounded closely like a dirt bike or sport bike jamming the gear selector down without using the clutch…Cary herky-jerky! I am a mechanical engineer with plenty of racing experience.? I could see it, hear it and even hear him getting bounced around.
I am the dude by the way. I appreciate what you are saying and agree that normally what you are you saying is right.... For other cars. This is the way to drive this, and is the way the factory showed me how to drive it. It does not need rev matching or which I do in my other cars. Gearbox has been inspected by manufacturer and it is in perfect condition after 10000klms. It is meant to clunk in and out of gear. I have another one with over 10,000 klms.as.well and no issues. Nothing has broken or worn out.

It's actually fine around town. You are overthinking it. It was designed as a road car and homologated as such in the UK. Yes it's not practical as a daily driver, but it is absolutely fine driving it around. Easier than modified Subaru with twin plate clutch. To get it registered here was not as easy as you think. It still had to pass road test and MOT and show emissions test etc. You can imagine at first it is a no this cane be a road car. But when they see all the UK documents and then test it they could not say no. As a track car it has production car records at many tracks. The new Mono R has started breaking records again. I know they were testing it at Nuremberg a few weeks ago for a production car lap record next year.

A Subaru or Mono? If Subaru yes i own 2. One since 1998 and the other 2008. Are they reliable? Yes, if proper maintenance and if you modify do it properly. I have another video on my channel with my STI. If regards to Mono, yes reliable but think racecar maintenance. Every so often go around and tighten everything as becomes lose due to vibrations.
Thanks. Yes it does look like I am using tbe other lane. Whilst on a few occasions I am, trust me most of the time I am not. It is the camera perspective and also the shape of the front wheel arches. I always think I am driving in the opposite lane but I have followed many cars who are driving in the land and I am following exactly and it looks to me like I am always in the opposite lane. Also these are narrow roads and not really wide enough to be considered two lanes, even with a dividing lane.

Thanks for the advice, but must say I am not the reason why bikers get hit in turns. I have never hit anyone. Maybe other people do. I have been driving for 34 years, I have never had an accident. I also ride a bike albeit a scooter so am well aware of bikers and the dangers they face. Unfortunately most of the bikers in our country get killed due to speeding, wheelies, no proper training or bike awareness, not wearing a helmet and no protective gear as shorts and t-short and no helmet is way cooler. I get your point and whilst there are a few instances of driving across the lane, these are very narrow roads even if they have "two lanes". Also the camera angle and the shape of the car deceive as to whether I am across in the other lane.

Thanks. That's me being slow with the clutch as have a bad knee. Either do it faster or use clutchless. It is a sequential gearbox so no lag at all.

Looks like your suspensions are almost as rough as the ones of my 2000 ford puma...
Suspension is fine. ZF Sachs so quality stuff. Suspension softness not a high priority as I have it on a fairly aggressive setup for track work.

Yes. It scrapes a little on some of the higher ones. But not worse than my Impreza.

A Subaru or Mono? If Subaru yes i own 2. One since 1998 and the other 2008. Are they reliable? Yes, if proper maintenance and if you modify do it properly. I have another video on my channel with my STI. If regards to Mono, yes reliable but think racecar maintenance. Every so often go around and tighten everything as becomes lose due to vibrations.

Thanks. Yes it does look like I am using tbe other lane. Whilst on a few occasions I am, trust me most of the time I am not. It is the camera perspective and also the shape of the front wheel arches. I always think I am driving in the opposite lane but I have followed many cars who are driving in the land and I am following exactly and it looks to me like I am always in the opposite lane. Also these are narrow roads and not really wide enough to be considered two lanes, even with a dividing lane.

Tbf if no one is around and you're not putting in danger other people's lives I don't really see the problem there.

Thanks for the advice, but must say I am not the reason why bikers get hit in turns. I have never hit anyone. Maybe other people do. I have been driving for 34 years, I have never had an accident. I also ride a bike albeit a scooter so am well aware of bikers and the dangers they face. Unfortunately most of the bikers in our country get killed due to speeding, wheelies, no proper training or bike awareness, not wearing a helmet and no protective gear as shorts and t-short and no helmet is way cooler. I get your point and whilst there are a few instances of driving across the lane, these are very narrow roads even if they have "two lanes". Also the camera angle and the shape of the car deceive as to whether I am across in the other lane.
@@wrx450 i totally get what youre saying i've just had many instances where i was going quickly into turns and had a guy in my lane, and almost been hit. It very well could be the camera and shape of the car making it look worse than it is though
