      i am juva thank you so much for this useful video Juva! I was wondering if you could make a video about tips for improving reading and note taking in the speaking tasks 3 and 4 as well as in the first writing task? I've been training hard for one month but I still struggle with taking notes while reading the passages to combine with the conversations or lectures. As a result, I sometimes feel lost and forget my template because I cannot see the reading passage main ideas in my notes. What should I do? Thanks a lot in advance!

    • @miatoribo3443
      @miatoribo3443 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Claudia Maria Barron Hi Claudia! At first, the most challenging part for me was the Listening section-I couldn’t concentrate. I practiced meditation, which helped me be more aware of my thoughts, which came in very handy when I took the test😄. Studying at least 3 hours each day will help you focus on each section of the test.
      My advice is to take practice tests each week, they will allow you to realize which sections you need the most reinforcement, and you can focus on tackling those before taking the test. There are many mock tests here on TH-cam. If you want to get a more accurate result you can buy one of the ETS practice tests, they’re around 30 bucks.
      Hope this can be of help. All the best! 🤍

    In Task 2 opinion, you suggested to use the past tense (the speaker HAD a negative attitude toward the...) bec one is merely narrating what he/she heard. Yet, in discussing specifically the speaker's opinion, you recommended to use the present tense (he supports/opposes) bec it is possible that speaker still holds the same opinion about something. Given so, could we not use the present tense, too, to create a transition (has, instead of had, negative attitude) for the same reason that the speaker may still hold the same negative attitude about something? Please clarify. Thank you.

      @juva  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You must talk during the whole time. Try to finish your answer only when the time is close to zero. That's why you need a good time management. Try a few TOEFL Speaking practice tests and time yourself to get a feeling for how long you need to speak. A Speaking template is extremely helpful here because it makes sure that you don't finish too early nor talk for too long.

    Hi Juva, thanks a lot for all the work you've done by uploading these videos to help us. Your Speaking and Writing Templates in particular have helped me immensely. I scored 23 in Speaking and 29 in Writing. While my score in the Speaking section is not that great, I must let you know that two years before when I took the test, I scored just 17. The reason for this being that I stammer and it is very difficult for anyone who stutters to not only speak but also to speak under time constraint. Without your templates and note-taking tips, I would not have been able to increase my score and meet the requirements of the graduate programs I'm applying to. I was able to really keep my answers succinct due to your templates and render my responses crisply with your note-taking tips.
    You are a brilliant teacher, never lose your cheerfulness! Keep smiling and helping others :)

    do you speak at this speed rate during the speaking task? I surely know that I will not be able to lay out all my thoughts in 45s-1m at that rate. the task to summarize and in a short time is the most concerning for me.

    • @juva
      @juva  ปีที่แล้ว

      I speak slower in the video, so everyone can understand. No worries, you don't need to include every detail when speaking. Practice before to figure out how much you can say in the time given. This will help you cope with the time constraints in the TOEFL.

  • @jamalahmedhussein1341
    @jamalahmedhussein1341 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Your template is very useful. However, I think your passage for the first task is a bit long. For example, I can't even read this passage in 45 seconds at a normal pace
    "I agree with the idea of children having smartphones. I feel this way for two reasons. First, nowadays people normally communicate via social media and it is beneficial for children to learn how to communicate in this way from an early age. For example, messaging apps like WhatsApp have become part of daily communication for most people. It is important for children to learn how to write short and concise messages using a mobile device. Second, there are many apps available that offer educational content which children can use for studying and for improving their grades. For instance, apps that offer flashcards for studying can help children memorize everything they need for their exams.".

    • @juva
      @juva  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm so glad you like the template. Of course, your answer doesn't have to be that long. You should speak at your normal pace. That's why it's very important to practice speaking before you take your TOEFL test so that you know how much information you can deliver in the time given. Hope this helps :)

      Hey Palak, I recommend paraphrasing everything because this shows the TOEFL examiners that you have a large vocabulary and this will get you a better score.

    Hello Juva ! I love your videos. They are so helpful. I have a question about task 2. Does it have a conclusion? You didn’t mention any.

      Hello Gabina, I'm so glad you like the videos :). You don't need a conclusion for task 2 in TOEFL Speaking. It's sufficient if you state the change and the reasons given.

    Hey Juva I think this video could be even better if you gave us an example answer to go along with this

    Hi Juva!
    I have some questions on your template for Task 2 (Campus Announcement) where you recommend switching to past when we talk about the conversation.
    However, when we talk about the lecture in Task 3-4, why don't we need to switch to past then? For example, why don't we need to say the lecturer statED/mentionED ....

      Hi Korn! That's an excellent question! I would use the present when talking about what the lecturer said because a lecture is not a conversation that has happened in the past. But of course the lecture is also over at that point. It's tricky! In short, I think if you used the past when talking about the lecture in task 4, that would also be ok. However in task 3, the one which is an integrated task, I would definitely use the present because you are talking about the article at the same time where you use the present. It would be unnatural if you constantly switched between the past and present when talking about both. Hope this helps :)
