Glad you enjoyed it! It’s a very nice area! While I wasn’t too happy about my dad moving away, he sure chose a nice area to live and I’m glad I get to visit him and see your beautiful neck of the woods!
Amazing how lil places like this are forgotten until “hunters” like you find them. Thank you for taking us “old timers” who remember these groups, along on your trip. Much respect sir.
They were great! I didn't appreciate their music as a kid but sure like it today! Sweet Home Alabama and Simple Man are great songs as well as Give Me Three Steps and Free Bird!
Excellent video Jeff! Muscle Shoals is a must visit for any music aficionado! Lots of memories all under one roof. No doubt that you could feel and hear the history there! There’s really nothing like a recording studio that can connect you to the past.
Most defiantly your coolest episode to date in my opinion. I like the Cali stuff and like it when you're out of your home state bringing the rest of America to your channel.
Muscle Shoals Studios where a lot rock and country artists have recorded their albums over the years especially from the 60's and 70's i really enjoyed seeing your video take care and Thank You.🎶🎤🎸🎸🎹🥁🎶
Love the vintage studios! This one is an Icon. Most people have no idea where Muscle Shoals is. But it’s one of the best known studios in the world! Particularly the south! Real music made here by real people in extremely confined areas!! On very rare equipment!! If you listen to an old 8 track tape, it was recorded on similar equipment! But made a sound that echoes today on iPhones, in cars and in Arenas.
Groovy Jeff. I liked seeing a real studio. Cool music too. The 60s to early 70s is my favorite time period for music. "See you" next week. Please say hi to Sarah.
Good video Jeff l.p. this video had me smiling the whole video , I wonder why all the artists from different countries came there to record , rather then in there own country's. THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA.......
The studio had a great reputation because of the session players! They were that good and diverse! Folks like Cher and Linda Ronstadt chose them to record with.
@@jbenziggy Two points of trivia: In the photo with Lynyrd Skynyrd is Cassies Gains, who was also tragically killed in the plane crash. It's now on display at the "Big House" museum in Macon, GA. The inlays on the fretboard are like finger prints - no two are alike. This photo helped positively identify that gold top. Very cool.

Excellent historical tour of musical history. Thanks. We recently toured RCA studio B in Nashville. Amazing how small these studios actually are. Studio B also the location of some great music from famous artists, including Elvis and many more. So much Americana music history in these two little buildings
I listened to “Wild Horses “ on the car radio yesterday. I knew about the Swampers but didn’t know the Stones recorded there. The perfect place to make music.
It was an interesting video. I would have loved if you had included a visit to Fame Studio too. That is where the Muscle Shoals recording boom began with Rick Hall producing and The Swampers playing. Maybe that's a visit for another trip.

My gosh. The Good Ole day's. Brings back so many memories. To bad those days are over and the kids nowadays will not have any of those cool experiences of great music and the day's gone by. Thanx Jeff and Sarah.
My friend Noel owned it when I was there. I stayed there in 2003 for a bit. When he had it, the downstairs was an apartment. I spent many nights on that couch listening to music all night. That place just had a cool buzz about it. Met some cool musicians in the few years I'd go down there. Hung out with Pete Carr at his house, Jimmy Johnson had a band he brought in to record, Bobby Whitlock, probably a few more I forgot..lol..it was over 20 years ago. If the buildings are still out back, I helped paint them. They were the same color as the studio building.
I've been recording since 1982, reel to reel, cassette, CD, Stream. Muscle Shoals was the standard to achieve. The Record Plant, in Sausalito took over for a while.
Wow, I really appreciate what you had to say and especially coming from a musical.ly talented person. I must thank you for the really nice comment and your time watching this video.

Oh fun! I love all genres of music and appreciate that so many and such famous artists were represented at this recording studio. It's surprising to most, I believe, that such studios were not housed in elaborate buildings. Among the artists who recorded here, my favorites include Rod Stewart, Bob Seger, Paul Simon and, of course, Kris! Thanks for the memories, Jeff.

Good to hear! God bless you, too! It is now my father's area of Alabama too! They sure like their college teams there since they don't have one in the NFL!
I graduated high school in 1969, so many of the clips you played were known to me, but rarely did I associate the singers/bands with the music on the radio. Still, I enjoyed seeing the place where so much magic was made, & your excitement at being there was palpable (sorry Dad)!
My dad doesn't get excited about much except eagles on poles and such! LOL. All kidding aside, he is very interested in the world, not rock and roll history!
I went on that tour, and that guy was our guide as well. An amazing place. If you are in this area, and you are a music fan, do it. It’s incredible. We got some really cool stories about Donna Godchaux. She was on Chers first album and is in that photo in front of the building. Her and her husband, Kieth, ended up in the Grateful Dead. Give her time. LOL. She primarily hangs out in Nevada and parts of California. She's stepped on my toes a few times. BTW, I am not a fan. Those sunglasses have got to go! LOL
It was like visiting sacred ground! This studio is prominently featured in the Gimme Shelter documentary! Great stuff! I’m very thankful it is still here!
I had to go to hospital this morning, but I’m here now. 👍 Wow Jeff, who would have thought such an unassuming little building held so much famous history. 🤷♀️ ❤Jodie 🇦🇺
Hi Jeff, I woke up in the morning with extreme dizziness and felt so sick. I lost my sight for a few minutes and couldn’t stand or walk. My husband took me to hospital, apparently I had vertigo for the first time. Who knew it could be so bad. I’ll be okay, thank you.
That was amazing! I had no idea how many artists recorded in that little studio. It looks like you and your family had a great time together. Thanks for the history lesson.
Great episode. I drove by the studio back around 06. I had a o.s.h.a class I had to have to work at a powerhouse down that way. I thought about all the great music that came from there. How time flies. Thanks for sharing.
From your intro I wondered when you would mention Aretha, The Rolling Stones and some others but then they were all mentioned. This was very thorough and the tour of Muscle Shouels was great. It's also great to see the owners have kept everything in tact which is cool to see since most of the 60's, 70's recording studios in the USA are long gone.
Good stuff. I live a couple of hours west of the Shoals. Unbelievable the music that came out of there as well as FAME. Btw, the Stones were there in December of ‘69. They flew straight from there to Altamont. 😳
Great video Jeff! I have lived in north alabama since 1973 and have never visited Muscle Shoals. I think I will move it up on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for doing this video. My father grew up in Tuscumbia and went to High school in Sheffield. Growing up we would go down there every summer. We went past this studio dozens of times in the 70’s, had we only of known what music was being recorded there. I need to go back there and take this tour.
Hey Jeff, thanks for the addition of showing us the Airstream, you know how I love our trailers. Being music buffs, my wife and I really enjoyed all of the history that you researched and putting this video together. Stay well friend. Gary and Christa.
Awesome! Hope you both are doing well and enjoying life. BTW, Mammoth was amazing and we will be doing some episodes in that part of our beautiful state!
What a fun tour!! I am glad you asked all the questions! I think that is a super cool piece of music history!!👏👏👏 Thanks Jeff! Another great show! -Nina
Awesome installment. The keys of that piano....the notes and tones, burnt in our memories. The couch and chair......the bar......the bathroom......the magic captured inside those walls is HISTORY. BTW, We had tix to the 77 Skynard show in DETROIT.....tragedy struck the week of the show. We traded in the tix for the Alice Cooper Halloween show at Cobo Hall, where KISS ALIVE was recorded. Thanks and cheers from Detroit🇺🇸 GOD BLESS AMERICA 🇺🇸
The history made here is amazing. Who would have thought such famous singer, bands, and songs we listen to every day happened in such a small building. Fantastic Video!
Holy cow… what a blessing to step in the footsteps of giants where so much timeless music was created. It was the background music to our lives. I have heard of the reputation of this building but not on the level you presented to us. THANK YOU!
Outstanding...I am nominating you to be the officially my favorite and most fascinating USA historian. May you do this for a very very long time!!!
Thank you! Love the comment and pinned it to the top of the page!

Awesome! Born and raised in Muscle Shoals! So happy to see you doing a video on our great town.
Glad you enjoyed it! It’s a very nice area! While I wasn’t too happy about my dad moving away, he sure chose a nice area to live and I’m glad I get to visit him and see your beautiful neck of the woods!

The Stones recorded Wild Horses there in 71 or 72.

I had to go to hospital this morning, but I’m here now. 👍 Wow Jeff, who would have thought such an unassuming little building held so much famous history. 🤷♀️ ❤Jodie 🇦🇺
Gosh, I hope you're doing great after the hospital!
Was a great place to see ,Thank you so much Love Bob Seger's music .My ring tone on my phone .....
He’s great, isn’t he? And he’s still performing!
I knew each of the songs you played!!!!! Never realized that groups like the Stones would have recorded there. Very awesome episode.
That was amazing! I had no idea how many artists recorded in that little studio. It looks like you and your family had a great time together. Thanks for the history lesson.
Another great video... this and Merle haggard video are my favorites
Wow, thank you!
Outstanding video🤙 Thank you!!!!
DEFINITELY ENJOYED, THANKS again for sharing, JEFF
You bet! Thanks!
Another great video Jeff, I love watching your videos there amazing, thank you from Kerry in sunny Scotland 🏴 ❤
What cool place. Thanks Jeff!!!
You bet! It was a fun tour!
Great episode. I drove by the studio back around 06. I had a o.s.h.a class I had to have to work at a powerhouse down that way. I thought about all the great music that came from there. How time flies. Thanks for sharing.
Boy, tell me how time flies. I'm 63 and thinking what the heck happened. I'm 70-80 percent through this life.
@@jbenziggy were about the same age. This is a good channel you got going. Thanks.
Awesome Video Thank you.
You are welcome! I thank you for watching!
Awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
Just amazing to think all those greats had been in those rooms, even the bathroom ! Great story, excellent production thank you. From Perth Australia
Blows my mind, I know that! I appreciate your wonderful comment!
Great video Jeff!
I have lived in north alabama since 1973 and have never visited Muscle Shoals. I think I will move it up on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing!
I don't think you will regret going on this tour!
Happy sunday ❤
Good Morning!
Thank you for doing this video. My father grew up in Tuscumbia and went to High school in Sheffield. Growing up we would go down there every summer.
We went past this studio dozens of times in the 70’s, had we only of known what music was being recorded there. I need to go back there and take this tour.
That was excellent. Now I have to move Muscle Shoals up on my bucket list !
You should! It’s a cool place to check out!
FABULOUS HH Vid!!! Hits very close to home for me Jeff!!! Thanks for my weekly HH "fix"!!! ~Chris
Thanks and cheers
from Detroit🇺🇸
GOD BLESS AMERICA 🇺🇸
The history made here is amazing. Who would have thought such famous singer, bands, and songs we listen to every day happened in such a small building. Fantastic Video!
Holy cow… what a blessing to step in the footsteps of giants where so much timeless music was created. It was the background music to our lives. I have heard of the reputation of this building but not on the level you presented to us. THANK YOU!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks, Robert!
One of your best episodes ever... 👏👏👏👏
Thanks, Sal! I liked the way it turned out too!
Very cool. Thanks for taking me there
You bet! Thanks for enjoying it with us!
