if you talk about Indonesia there will be no end, a former expatriate, trying to explore from the tip of the western island to the tip of the eastern island, and it has taken 3 years and he has reached more than 50% (currently has reached South Sulawesi from the direction west) and you can get to know Indonesia from its dark past, the struggle for independence, to more than 1000 tourist attractions for natural views. just like in families sometimes brothers and sisters often fight, in history there are also internal conflicts that hurt both parties, and if you look at number 11, there are still traces of it in modern times and it is related to conflicts between tribes (in Indonesia there is a proverb, Where the earth is stepped, there the sky is upheld) which means wherever you stand in an area, you must appreciate and respect the culture there. Indonesia may be the home of Muslims, but Muslim culture is not necessarily similar to that in the Middle East or Arabia, Muslim culture, especially the island of Java, which is home to the majority of Muslims, has its own culture that is assimilated by previous beliefs. Meanwhile, Bali is home to the majority Hindu population, and North Sulawesi is home to the majority Christian population

I visited Bali many years ago, just before the last Century, and the (lack of)"value" of the Indonesian money was a disaster, falling like a stone. With daily updates we exchanged money every few days. It was an income to exchange money from $ at many different minor places around the Island.
I used the the price of a disc: Nasy Ghoring as an index of how expensive a restaurant was, when travelling round in a small group, finding places to stay in motels! People are very friendly and I still have a Balinese, cruel looking, wooden Demon Mask over my door, protecting my house and home from disasters, and it functions! I haven't had a disaster since I bought it, many years ago!!!

My time on Bali was just before the turn of the last Century, and I haven't heard of Indonesia as the New "Power House" of Asia, with a new, better and much stronger Economy? But it is far away for a European, so it may be so? Till a short time ago I had a connection with a similar age Indonesian Lady (I'm 76), but I sadly haven't heard from her for some time, so she may have died? I have been living in Indonesia for a year now and the biggest disadvantage for me is the lack of pedestrians and sidewalks for them. People in this country absolutely do not walk! Everyone just rides motorcycles, which makes the streets full of gases and makes it harder to breathe. As a European, I am used to walking a lot and here I miss it. Many people say that the reason is the hot weather, but I do not think this is true, because in neighboring Malaysia and Singapore, where it is also hot, people walk.

Talking about Indonesia, there are not an Indonesian citizen and not even an Indonesian President before Jokowi has visited all 524 city/ town in all around Indonesia. Can you imagine, that if you spend 1 day in each city/town, then at least you spend at least 1.5 years completely. Like what he said, Sabang to Merauke (West to East) is 9 hours and Miangas island to Rote island (North to South) ? hours . But at least he has proved to us the citizen with what his programs and he often visited us the peoples of East part of Indonesia and the traditional market in every his visit, even the house of the peoples at the night. We love our the skinny President. 😂

In the comment section there's some white man commenting that west papua is not part of indonesia and indonesia colonizing it. Well, from his comment i can assume that he's probably an australian or american.
Well... Let me tell you something. If you my friend are an australian, please think of what your country had done to the aborigine and if you are american, look again to what your country had done to native american
    Let's start
Did you know that beside have wide controll of their land, papuan hold significant power in indonesian government insitutions such as parliament?
    That's right.
In indonesian parliament, papuan hold power to do these things
    1. Proposing the ammandment of the constitution and involved in the ammandment process.
    2. Papuan have rights to propose a new law or to reject a proposal of a new law. They can also have right to bring a controversial law to the parliament to completely removed or modifying the law.
    3. Since papuan have power in parliament, that means the papuan have members in the parliament that involved in the policy making process.
    4. Indonesian parliament also take role as judge to decide whether indonesian president did his/her job professionaly or not. That means the papuan can send the motion of untrust against the president to judge the president as guilty of neglecting the presidential duty. That also means that the papuan can issuing the impeachment of the president who had seen neglecting the responsibility as a president
    5. If papuan have considerable power in the parliament, that means they can also form a national scale party that hold political power. National Democrat party (Nasdem) are a national scale party that formed by a papuan man named Surya Paloh. In 2024 presidential election, Nasdem Party supporting Anies Baswedan as the presidential candidate in the election.
    6. In western papua it self, papuan hold wide power to control this land. Indonesian central government didn't install a javanese, sumatran or non native papua as the regional leader of western papua. Instead, the one who lead this land are the native papuan them self.
With such power, does that make sense to you that indonesia colonizing this land? Or perhaps your favorite propaganda media keep it secret from you to make you believe that there is a colonialization here in this land. Instead of reminding you about what australian government did to the aborigines and what US government did to the native american, your favorite propaganda media choose to framing the concept of colonialization in papua that doesn't exist, just to make you still watching and reading their cheap propaganda.
Although papuan hold significant power in indonesian parliament, building papua is not cheap. Yearly national budget that indonesian government spend to develop western papua provinces are not small. Percapita, the ammount of money indonesian government spend on building western papua are actualy the largest among all regions that indonesia have.
The problem that exist in western papua are mainly this. This also the reason why papua new guinea is very poor. Because just like how it's expensive to build western papua, building PNG is also expensive. But unlike PNG, western papua still got so much money from Jakarta to build western papua. Many many times the ammount of money jakarta got from west papua.

The Indonesians are not that democratic and magnanimous. Some of the Muslims are fanatics and intolerant of other cultures. Several race riots and burning down of businesses and homes. Non muslim politician campaigned for political office was accused of bogus crime and put in jail to prevent hom from holding office.
