HR 16 Oct 22 pileated woodpecker

It was a quiet, overcast morning at Hanging Rock State Park, north of Winston-Salem, NC. One of three busy Pileated Woodpeckers hung out for a while, occasionally drumming on a particularly resonant tree trunk, and listening for another doing the same a few miles away.
