Wow, such a cool experience for those family members who are getting a taste of how their ancestors lived. Great work, looking forward to future videos in this spot!
The razor handle was a cool 1st find but not quite the era you're searching for. The young guy finding the ring top is awesome 😊 That's ground looks like it's been thoroughly pushed. The pine tree planting and who knows what all else has been grown there. Dude the Kentucky rifle butt plate is a phenomenal find!!
The ring is probably pre 1900 and set in silver. It is an old design and diamonds were set in silver right up till early 1900's when white gold and platinum started to be used. The actual cut of the stones will help dating it.
Unlikely that your finding "musket" parts, rifle parts are more likely. Muskets weren't rifled and were used during the time period but mainly as shotguns. The balls you found looked to be in the .40 caliber range, smaller caliber rifles were common in the south, they used less powder and lead but would still kill any game animal native to the area. The butt plate part was also common to the area, these tended to have a deep "hook" and were placed in the crook between the shoulder and bicep. With a sharper projection at the top of the butt plate these guns were very uncomfortable to shoot if the butt plate was held on the shoulder like a modern gun.
Hi Brandon. I am guessing that the round item with a point on one side and a split pin on the other side, was decoration on leather horse tack. "Horse brass".
I'm surprised you are still running the Vortex prototype! I've been experimenting with mine. Hopefully garrett does something with the TID scale. Then we will know if we are on a old silver coin. The tough part for me is i can't tell the difference between a silver dime and clad dime. Or a silver quarter from a clad quarter. At this point it's like you said a coin signal. I hope they continue to improve the Vortex!

sweet video
Cool!!
Not sure how old those trees are but it could have been from whoever planted those trees those modern coins
I'm surprised you are still running the Vortex prototype!

The handle you found looks like the handle of razor that you would shave with
Living around nature is the most beautiful feeling, but fires around forest is the fear of most of us.
kool
Oh, yes, do go back!!!
I would search for a water source, a house that big should have so much iron that you couldn't ground balance near it. It looks like you are close!
I call razor handle, even before you mentioned it.
I hope you find the homestead it looks like you are close
Someone planted those trees 20-30 years ago so that, kids and hunters is probably why you found those modern dimes
The part after you showed the gun piece could have been a top or dradel or something possibly
first thing looks like what's left of a nail set....
Doesn't help much that they turned the site into a tree farm covered in rows of new pine.
How could they not know where the house was?
Need to find their garbage pit
Your in the middle of a tree farm!
The old Victorian rings were made of Platinum or White gold I have found.its a possibility....
Are you concerned about the unmarked graves of the former laborers. Chain and a plantation. What comes to mind.
Nice little history lesson and oh so close to 100k! Gotta Love It!
