      Maybe I misunderstood, but I though he said inch and a half at 600 yards, minimum.Can't get the brain to imagine quarter minute groups.Three inch groups would be half of an MOA. On my best day...

      @@daviddale3624 MOA is an angular measurement. A 1/4 MOA at 600 is 1/4 MOA at 100. Think of it like drawing an isosceles triangle where two sides have a length of "a" with a base of "b". As the length of "a" changes (100 vs 600), the angle between the "a" sides remains consistant.

    That's an interesting take on crossing the angles of stock to barrel. That is an artillery type of method and why the 8" howitzer was always the most accurate gun in the inventory. The crossing point between the two angles, or equilibrium point, was actually in the rear of the track piece. That weapon could drop a 200lb projectile within 50 meters of the target from 15 miles away. So, I would reference that in this physics and ballistics explanation.

    Currently i shoot .22lr off a bench...been doing that only 2 years. No competitions just for fun.
    If i wanted to start shooting center fire and also start loading...what recommendation would you give me? Is there a "starter round" and "starter rifle". Maybe something less expensive to reload and on the softer side.
    My range only goes to 200 yards.
    Also I would love for you to bring on a .22lr benchrest guy.
    Thank you

    27:40 - Germán was also the person taught me to clean using iosso. Heck, Germán taught me a LOT about mid and long range shooting. As a newbie around 2010, I was blessed to start learning the sport at the time when he was shooting the local matches. Not only was he an excellent shooter, but he was also incredibly patient with me as a coach, and just an all-around nice guy. I miss seeing him on the line.

    Never get enough info, you guys keep bringing up funky little, or even big things, that a person just won't consider or actually do anything about unless the idea is presented as something that really may help. The talk about the stocks struck me this time, I understand that they really make a difference to the comfort level of shooting, Explaining it is another thing altogether, Material, styling and fit on the buttstock can make or break two guns in the same cartridge, especially when the recoil level is on the higher side.

    Hey Eric, Loving these videos. I'm surprised to hear that you don't clean your cases. Carbon builds up on the inside of the case and changes the capacity over time. Take one of your cases after you fullsize it and bang it upside down on your desk a few times you'll see that some of the residue has broken off the walls of the case and ends up on the desk. This changes the pressure over time. To quote you "I can make it consistently clean but I can't keep it consistently dirty". Also annealing dirty cases can actually leave a "glaze" on the case neck which for me caused seating issues if I didn't clean it off.

    • @ErikCortina
      @ErikCortina  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have tested it thoroughly. I’m 100% confident in dirty brass. 😉

    • @MMBRM
      @MMBRM 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ErikCortina No. I haven't done direct A/B testing on the range. However, I did verify a change in case capacity and I know changing case capacity changes pressure which then changes bullet velocity. However, it's entirely possible it doesn't change it to an extent where it would affect performance to a noticable degree. Especially if you're keeping track of firings and loading the brass with the same amount.

  • @jaybigboy34
    @jaybigboy34 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    So when you say you wipe the brass down before you size it do you mean you take 0000 wool and wipe the neck or what?
