Hello, I am a carpenter, joiner, turner and cabinet maker, now retired and I am 75 yrs young. I watch you and others in your small workshop turning out fantastic quality, hand made products, you sit on the ground and have the ambition to use all your limbs, it is fascinating to watch you. I am frustrated that I no longer have a workshop, as here in the United Kingdom they are very expensive. I satisfy some of my frustration watching You Tube craftsman, like you and the boy with you, I hope that in a while I can visit your country and see for myself you and other skilled workers like you. Amazing beautifully crafted box, worth its weight in gold for the hardwork. These guys should be given recognition and helped in marketing these priceless products.
Fascinating craftsmanship. Absolutely beautiful tradesmen with nothing modern to work with and that’s the beauty of this skill and what makes it so awesome. If you give the pieces and the lay out to a person that has no idea of the old ways of this kind of craftsmanship, they would absolutely be lost! It’s beautiful to see this woodworking still in the the world today. The only thing I would change is maybe putting it on a table to work off of, lol.
When you have to do that work for many hours a day (10+) and many days a year (300+) - lowering the center of gravity (core muscles) is probably better for the back, the legs and for balance. I mean a carpenter with the above skill can easily build a table if he wanted to. Must be reason to choose to squat rather than stand. This squatting appears to be prevalent in all skill jobs where arduous long hours are also common. Also interestingly, all the workers are also using dexterity in their toes and muscle strength in their lower legs to assist in addition to fingers and upper muscles.
