I just bought one. It was a splurge, but I'd been using the same ancient rice cooker for years, and it was time to upgrade. I've made 2 batches so far. I appreciate the tip about the 'soft glutinous' setting. I will try it. I will say that the rice I've made, despite perhaps being a bit too sticky, has been delicious. I really like this Cuckoo so far.

This review is so helpful. I heard this brand from my friends and ive been waiting for so long to buy this right after I saw your review couple minutes ago, and finally decided to buy it directly. lol. I’ve been using several brand for my rice cooker as long as this time, but none of them satisfied me 😢 and again I’m back to the old tradition way to cooking rice(steam process). Hopefully Cuckoo will be my everlasting rice cooker.

Thanks for your review. I wanted to upgrade my old rice cooker, from your review, I decided to try this one out. I had some old brown rice, all I can say is wow, on the flavor. The self cleaning feature and the drain holes in the unit. Plus. I set the voice level low, so that was nice they offered that feature. I could lift the pot out without pot holders. Has a very solid build.

Where you able to keep this? Do you use this over a Zojirushi, or how would you compare it to the IH and IH/Pressure Zoji models?
In the US Cockoo seems to give us more features for the money, but the Zojirushi models seems to cost waaaay more than how much the Japanese have to pay for similar models from almoat any brand. Paying $370-$450 for this Cuckoo is kind of my limit. I can't see myseld paying $500+ for a zoji when it only cooks rice for the most part, especially the pressure models.

Is it possible to cook white jasmine rice and white basmati rice in the Cuckoo pressure rice cooker? Or will it really only do a good job with short and medium grain rice? I actually bought it for cooking mixed grain rice which most people seem to agree should be cooked in some type of pressure cooker for best results.

I'm not sure from personal experience but I think it should be okay. You just have to play around with water levels because that's the most important thing I noticed about this cooker. You will probably have to experiment with trial and error until you get the consistency of rice that you like.

I think for the white soft glutenous rice function on this exact cooker, the max is 4 cups, so that's probably why it's coming out weird if you're trying to cook more than that. Next time, try to add more water if your rice is coming out undercooked or dry.

I've read serveral comments here and on other sites. According to the custoner support it could be that you didn't rinse your rice enough. The water should be clear after rinsing. If you don't do that the starch particle will sink to the botzom and burn. You can also try to set the mycook preset to the level -3. If it doesn't work, gez in touch with support directly. They said the can fix the issue for sure.
