    One of the most reliable but least efficient engines ever made. God bless Toyota!

      It's hard to imagine various aftermarket suppliers out-engineering Toyota, much less having to manage myriad sources. The parts order was extensive enough as it is. Hell of a spreadsheet and inventory check.

      Douglas and Attack on the same thread! Very cool. ACQ, keep up the great work on your videos. Love the LC80 eye candy; your music is great, too. Douglas, love the rebuild. I acquired a triple-locked 80 that I’ve been restoring. I just put a new fuel tank on it and had the front end rebuilt. I desperately need a new OEM short block assembly. Can you point me in the right direction?

      Sorry for the delayed response Sandor. My YT notifications were in a glitch! I suddenly see these comments from a month ago? Yikes! I recommend you contact Chris Wurtz at Earnhardt Lexus in Phoenix Az. Ask him to set you up with an online pricing account. The short block part number and price are shown in my other video in this playlist "My Landcruiser Restoration Costs ( part 1.)

    Where did you find new engine ?

      We bought the short block and all the parts for the head and subsequent assembly you see in this video from Earnhardt Toyota in Mesa Arizona and Earnhardt Lexus in Phoenix Arizona then assembled it all at Japanese Auto Service in Wheatridge Colorado.

    • @DouglasGreen562

      Yes. My wife compiled the list of part numbers in order to define the scope of work. We began procurement of parts several months ahead of time then Doc, Rob and Joe made it all come together.

      @@DouglasGreen562 that's awesome!! You guys are very organized. How much was the labor cost of the new engine? Were there parts you guys had trouble getting?

    • @DouglasGreen562
      @DouglasGreen562  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nebuchadnezzar54831 I strongly encourage reaching out to Doc at Japanese Auto Service to get an up to date labor quote based on your individual scope of work. He knows the costs in deep detail and will offer a range depending on how detailed you want to go. I don't want to mislead anyone by quoting my ultra-overkill build. Aside from occasional shipping damage we did not have trouble getting anything from Toyota so long as it was still in production. For the relatively few N.L.A parts we carried those over from the old assembly and had help from a scrap yard near Salt Lake City.

      😆 You can get an intro to my parts costs, in my other video in this play list. "My Landcruiser Restoration Costs (part 1.)" The long block assembly including all new oem head assembly, oem short block and all hoses was $12,980.00 in parts. I have not yet disclosed the rest of the numbers but will in the future. I can tell you R/R costs are a less than many are paying for high mileage rigs with unverified maintence history.
