Looks cool and it seems to work great. Very nice job. Thanks
Nice project. She came out real nice
Thank you. Works well
I remember watching an episode of the tv show American Restoration where Rick went to a guys shop there in Vegas. The guy had made a planishing hammer using a sewing machine. Talk about thinking way outside of the box.
Carl Fisher at Japhands Kustoms made himself a thumbnail die shrinker with a sewing machine motor on it
Put up a video or two of it, looked like it worked great
416 feet of pure magic. LOL. Cool tool build.
Thank you. Pretty handy too
Great video. Keep em coming.
Man it would be cool to see a little more detail on your hammer, dolly pipe bender station. I’m pumped to build my own but watching homemade tools is great. Thank you!!
Maybe I’ll do a video on just home made tools.
just found your channel...glad I did. I'm in the process of building a portable hand-held planishing hammer for my 33 chevy project. Love your car... great work so far! I'm still debating how much to chop the top on mine...once it's cut, you're in it for the haul haha.
Yes once the roof is off. It’s the point of no return.
@@Theoldironworkshop Thanks for the reply :). I've been asking friends if the top needs to be chopped on my 33 and most say NO because of the stance and because of how low the body is sitting over the frame (I channeled it). IMO if the body is going to be at stock height, then yes chop it but if it's going to be channeled low over the frame and leans down some in the front then it's a big question. Some people like the chop to be a lot but I'm older and would struggle getting in and out of the car haha.
Very Cool!!
i just watched your 36 rear fender repair video, i've got a 5 window myself, now i see this with the 40, i've got one of those too! my little shop is 25'x25' here in socal. it seems like we're doing the same stuff. i've gott all new floors to put in my 40 from bob drake when he was getting them. now someone else handles them. i had to do the tail pan on the 36 and the same fender repairs as you plus the lower cowls and a battery cut out in the firewall. these poor car go through hell. i'll be checking out your channel out now too. nice video. enjoyed it.
yes if cars could talk i bet they would have some stories
New subscriber and binging your channel, its super. BUT wouldn't it have been more efficient to repair & enhance the welds on the store bought hammer? Jack
Yes but it wouldn’t look as cool
You are correct!
Welcome back!
Thank you. I started a build video on my 40 coupe last year. Ended up scrapping the all the videos. Trying to get rolling with new stuff this year.
@@Theoldironworkshop New subscriber, definitely keep these videos coming👍
Loved this video and I already ordered my piece-o_ to repurpose as well. So I can't wait for you to drop the top on your 40. My question is are you going to stay with the five or go with a 3 window build. I will be following closely on that chop as I've got a 39' Plymouth I want to chop by Winfields next show. Myself thinking 3 window. Thanks, and FAB ON!👍
Man I’ve been on the fence with what to do with that top for a year. At the moment it’s back burnered. I’ve got a 36 ford I’m working on. I just picked up a 46 ford that I need to get going. Always busy around here.
@ 15:30: "hot glue gun" first time I've heard that. That's funny as hell, I don't care who you are!!
😎
This does look great, do you think that it works better? I have seen some that look less ridgid than this one started, so I assumed it didnt need to be too heavy or ridgid.
Well, everything has its place. In some cases it works better. I specifically made this to get into spots that I can’t get my other planishing hammer into.
Hi, I’ve just watched your video did a great job of building new frames. but in my opinion you should have left adjuster as it was overtime with your adjustment Wheel set up will cause the threads to be stripped and as you can see on the video when you start using the hammer the wheel if not locked properly will unscrew its self regards, Eddy.
Yes I agree It dash have a lockdown nut, but probably should’ve just left it
As it was. But I just thought it looked cool the wheel on the bottom.
Howdie awesome workmanship thanks for sharing your project with us ya got this like to know if ya hav plans for this hammer if possible thks again l am welder by trade your ideas today are greatfully unbelievable ya took pride in this build here unless they pay you ya dont give up your secrets so Congrats well done so from Canada 🇨🇦 SK later let me know if ya go to sell the plans interested in this later farmer
Thank you, I actually have it drawn where I could sell it in a kit. Unfortunately, the cost of metal and shipping makes it a little unrealistic.
Boa noite
Amigo
Seu trabalho é muito bom!
Eu gostaria de ter esses tipos de ferramentas, para o meu trabalho!
Ferramentas boas!
Nice work
Thanks
I thought all the lightning holes in the frame would be to run pipe through and weld to really stiffen frame and let you run sand inside
That was my original plan. Somehow I decided I didn’t need it. It’s pretty solid and really doesn’t need to be any stiffer. Although the sand would’ve made it a hell of a lot quieter. Whoops. That was one of those style over function ideas I guess
Oooh your sooo green !😴 It's a polyurethane hose it's high quality it won't get stiff in the cold .
Its still on it. Seems durable.
@@Theoldironworkshop not as durable as the black house that's on the rest of your rig . On the ground in a fab shop isn't the best it will get stepped on with a sharp metal shaving and that's a hole it's better for like nail guns out in the cold on a roof or on the floor of a house that's being framed the only part of a nail that's a threat is the point .
An 9 year old probably made in a sweat shop. True.
I thought you were just being picky about the weld until you showed it that's definitely the guy that doesn't care welding that
Or lost the magnifier lens for his helmet and can’t see anything.
klutch just took he old hf model and put their name on it.
It’s on the market under several different brands. They are probably all made by the same child labor.
Actually that hole in the frame is to put sand in to deaden the obnoxious noise from it.
Yes in hindsight I should have filled mine. It’s pretty obnoxious
I've had that harborfreight planishing hammer before and the welds weren't even close to being that bad. Wow you won't be able to keep sand in it with those holes. I won't be buying klutch brand
In hindsight put in the holes in it was a really bad idea the same as loud as it can be
You missed the marke on say this thing could not even hold sand what a wast of a sand cap
Yes, I didn’t even think about making this thing so I could fill it with sand. I would sure be a hell of a lot quieter.
That makes no sense.
Math gets me too
