The DW 8 voices just feels natural. Like each voice is truly who they are. Voices in the games that came after feel more unnatural and like theyre either trying too hard or not enough.

Thanks for posting this video. Some voices are better, while some are worse. It's marginal in the end, but I'd say the DWO and DW8 voices are good in the contexts of their own games. DW8 is much more played up and cheesy, while Origins is more grounded and genuine. DW9 is just... DW9. 😂
Honestly, I'm actually pretty impressed with the vo work with origins so far I don't have the game yet and I want to experience it for myself which is why I've been sorta trying to shy away from stuff as much as I can, but just from the little bit I've seen the voices are already growing on me far more then they did when the jump to like 5 through 8 happened I believe is when most of the voices would keep returning but it took me awhile before I could actually get into them because I was so dialed in on the old 3 to 4 voices despite how clearly outdated they are and bad, but they're charming bad which is why I love the old dubs.
I’m really gonna miss the “old guard” when it comes to the voices. I spent so much of my youth growing up with the mostly stellar cast they had from around 4-8. I’m gonna miss the likes of og Xiahou Dun and Yuan, Cao Cao, Zhuge Liang, Zhang He, the brothers of Shu and the Sun family. Credit where it’s due though a decent amount of the new va’s sound at least decent and some sound very good and a much better fit for the new younger variants of their characters. Young Zhuge Liang and Zhang Jian in particular sound great. I dunno what’s going on with Cheng Gong tho 😂. His 9 version was by far the best.

In 8 XL, Zhang Liao had a voice change. If you end up looking into it, would you do an updated version of just his section instead of the whole video? Or update the whole video, whichever works for you.

It sounds like some of the ones from 9 have carried onto voice the characters in origins? Either that or they used the VA in 9 as a reference. It’s sounding okay but nothing will ever top DW8s cast
I have to say: The VAs for DW8 are super good! Pretty on par with their characters, and show great personality in their performances! The VAs for DW9, some of them are off character, while others are just trying to hard. Now for DW ORIGINS, they did their best, not bad nor good, but it’s credited. Overall on the Voice Actors: DW8 is a 10/10. DW9 is 6/10 and DW Origins is a 9.5/10! However, Now that we got two days left until the game comes out, what I hope for a Dynasty Warriors 10 (if Koei Tecmo green lights it), I hope that they *bring back* the OG Voice Actors! However, for the new characters introduced in DW9, I think they should stick with their “Origins” VAs.
So many of them in 9 and Origin are just strangely read lines or I would assume poor direction and the voice would otherwise be fine. Nine and Origin seems like what they were given was full of random all caps words or overly long pauses. Just say it like a normal person, not like Sindel in Mortal Kombat Annihilation
I thought voice acting is supposed to get progressively better with each installment, not worse. DW3 had that over the top kinda bad which was still entertaining, DW4 was an improvement in terms of the actual voice acting and 5-8 was what I consider the golden era of the voice cast. 9 went back downhill and now it's a toss-up of whether that or Origins is worse.

I played the demo and I honestly was (and still am) of the party that doesn't like the new gameplay and as a result, was on the fence about whether or not to buy the game, on launch or otherwise. That, coupled with character cuts (though I understand why), the fact the story only goes up to ChiBi, and now hearing the voices - I think I've made up my mind 😔.
