In the first photo, train is eastbound, not westbound. There are several photos later in the set at the same location correctly labeled westbound. Train is moving from the south track to the north to allow it to take the switch onto the New Haven Railroad (just past the photographer) and use their tracks to reach Maybrook yard.

My grandfather was a conductor on the O&W for 35 years working from the Mayfield yard!
