This is an amazing interview!! I loved Life With Loopy exactly because it was mixed media animation and I never knew (but now it makes sense) that Pee-wee’s Playhouse influenced the style so much! Very illuminating :)
Growing up watching Kablam, I never noticed how much detail was put into Life with Loopy till now. I never really thought about it because one I was young, and two I think that's when things were transitioning into CGI. Looking at it now, I would have never thought wood and magnets were used. I can only imagine what Gumby and Angela Anaconda went through 😂😂😂
I don't know if anyone is aware of this, and I haven't heard Stephen mention it in any interviews, but he wrote and drew an obscure fascinating comic book called "No Such Thing as Monsters" which lasted for six issues in 1986 and 1987. It's quite good!
If they do, it would have to be on 90's Nick, which I feel should be a channel on it's own along with Nick Jr. I tried playing Kablam for my friend's kids...thinking it would be just as entertaining as the silly new Minecraft/ Roblox clips...they thought the intro was a show by itself 😒 These kids have no concept of real shows after Pre-K. As a 90s kid...Lost in Space and Three's Company started and ended the day, Nick, Cartoon Network, and Disney in between and Popeye, Betty Boop and the Stooges on the weekends...now it's just silly 30 sec clips smh 😭😂
one of the most underrated styles in animation that could have been better approved at the time, I loved phantom investigators, it was so unique and a rare way of mixing cartoons and live action, maybe the world was not prepared for this because years later we would see something similar with gumball. thank for this interview

The life with loopy backgrounds and environments are very rich with detail and texture. Highly underrated show!
This was my favorite part of Kablam! Gosh I miss this show. Hopefully it comes back some day! :)

Other than Henry and June themselves, Loopy was my favorite part of KaBlaM.
