    Wait, so Broussard's comments from two years ago on a specific playoff series where a 2 seed beat a 7 seed somehow destroys Gilbert's comments on today's NBA? It's no secret that playoff defense is more physical than regular season defense, and it tends to get better since you can scheme for the same team over multiple games. In the regular season, the offense that Gilbert is talking about is really hard to beat/defend, but is very beatable by good teams in the playoffs. Look at the Steve Nash Suns. They pretty much played with today's style, crushed the regular season, but lost in the playoffs to good defensive teams that could actually take the time to scheme for them, and match up with their personnel.

    • @jonathanspringfield3209
      @jonathanspringfield3209 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @jahyahweh2226 bro the talent level is 2 high and the game is 2 up and dwn now. You can't pressure the guards they will blow by your ass they handle packages are too deep plus the quickness it's almost impossible to stop full court which is why they stopped doing it. If the best 1 on 1 players are constantly breaking dwn their defender you have to help off the shooters or just keep Givin up easy layups and midrange pull ups. These players try on defense it's just the offensive talent is so high it doesn't matter ie. Patrick Beverly and Dru Holiday get cooked day in and day out by the best offensive players, they have their moments when the come out on top but usually great offense beats great defense 🤷

    I liked that argument. Its different. It’s a very lazy argument to me to say that defenses are worse because they don’t play as hard. If it was that easy, there are enough players in the whole world who are willing to have effort. There’s obviously some kind of trade off or difference that allows the guys in the league now to have those spot. Gil is at least making a reasonable argument to why. Not that he’s correct. Maybe it’s just me, but just saying they are lazy IS lazy to me.

Think about what Lebron just did to the clippers.. they kept bringing AD up on the high screen and roll with Theiss. Theiss had to come up to respect AD, Even if Kwahi hedged, Bron brought it back until they got Theiss on Bron. Bron would drive or have his way with Theiss. When Clippers tried helping with the double, Bron kicked it to Dlo, Reaves,Rui,Prince and Dinwiddie who had the floor. And’ thats the streaky Lakers. Just another example of why DreamersPro shouldn’t be taken seriously for their analysis. Yet, like many of your other arguments, your failure to consider context and provide a proper perspective destroys your credibility.

    • @ZoMarcelo42
      @ZoMarcelo42 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If the Celtics with their 90s style play was so superior, why are they still title-less? If I recall, this team went on to disappear against the Warriors and their “open spacing, modern offense”. Their physicality was moot and only served them so they could hug and console themselves. Maybe the Nets weren’t so much bothered by the physical defense as they were ineffective for failing to develop the chemistry that great teams demonstrate.

    In the 90s if you didn't play defense you better be an offensive juggernaut. I personally don't think today's athlete is better than yesterday's. The rules have allowed players today to play freely which is why you see centers bringing the ball up like point guards. Also there is next to no effort to play defense because the game is about our scoring. The defense today is non-existent.

    Kobe was the most skilled player of all time. What he could do at all 3 levels, on both ends was literally incomparable. Jordan didn’t take the other team’s best back court player every night on defense, he left that to Pippen. Kobe took that defensive assignment, while dominating on offense, every game. You have to understand the context behind Kobe’s numbers when considering him in the goat conversation
