Hello and welcome to another edition of SUMO PRIME TIME. The September meet is over but this channel never goes to sleep, as there are so many things to cover even between grand tournaments. Our feature this time is on former Sekiwake Kaisei who had his retirement ceremony on October 1 in Kokugikan in Tokyo. More than 300 people took part in his hair-cutting ceremony which included Kaisei’s family and friends from Brazil. Kaisei also invited me to take part in his hair-cutting ceremony and what an amazing experience it was. Thank you, Kaisei for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! We’re all wishing nothing but the best in his new endeavor as a coach. We hope all of you have a good time watching this clip which includes an in-depth coverage of Kaisei's sensational top division debut performance from the 2011 May Tournament. Please enjoy! Now, here’s a reminder of the next grand sumo tournament which takes place in Fukuoka, southwestern Japan. The final tourney of the year will get underway on Sunday, November 12. The tickets are now on sale. For more information, please log on to the site below. sumo.pia.jp/en/sumo11.jsp
Thank you Kaisei for all the joy you brought to the Sumo World and for bring great pride for Brazil. I wait for your work as coach Tomozuna raising the next generation of sumo wrestlers.
I agree with all the positive comments about Kaisei. The SPT team did a really great job with this coverage, and Hiro-san, you looked great in that suit!
Hakuho and his former stablemate certainly confirmed what I was thinking - that Kaisei is a very nice guy. His hair cutting ceremony was quite moving. This was a lovely report. Wishing you well in the future Kaisei. You're going to be a great coach! ❤
Thanks again Hiro for the great content.
His family seems to love him very much, and that is no surprise at all! Former Kaisei has a shining soul, and his future is very bright! So glad Hiro was invited and attended the ceremony!
My fascination with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and finding out there was a Brazilian Rikishi competing in sumo is the reason I started watching sumo. So thank you Kaisei!
Thank you to Kaisei for allowing us to watch this amazing ceremony. I am sure future rikishi will be lucky to be coached by someone with such skill, yet such a kind heart.
Every clip and interaction I've seen of Kaisei just paints him as such a nice person, he will be a great coach and role model for young wrestlers, especially those who come to Japan from abroad, given that he has gone through and experienced it himself. I really wish him well.
As many others have stated, Kaisei and Tochinoshin became my two favorite wrestlers after first discovering the wonderful sport of sumo. And so it's quite a coincidence for me to discover that Tochinoshin handed Kaisei his first top division defeat. My congratulations to Kaisei for a wonderful career. And my best wishes for his NEW career. And...my thanks to you, Hiro. For enhancing my knowledge and enjoyment of and for sumo. What a GREAT sport it is!
I've only been into the sport now for 2 1/2 years. In this short amount of time, it was VERY easy to spot Kaisei as a great wrestler, and great person. I dunno if I necessarily agree with the GOAT (Hakuho) talking about him needing to scale back his kindness, but I do appreciate how supportive he, and every other coach is to have, the new: Tomozuna! Very good video. Thank you to the JSA, and Hiro Morita for your work in this.
Me emocionei muito. Obrigado Ricardo!
Kaisei is such a good person. He's just proof of how much there is to these men and their lives. He was a spectacular fighter, but there's so much more than that. Everyone talked about his kindness, and this isn't the first time I've heard of it. I have faith he'll continue to make Sumo better as a coach and wish his students success!
Kaisei was and will always be my fav Rikishi, Watching him was always such a treat. I'm going to miss him so much! Thank You So Much Kaisei for all the hard work and kindness you showed all these years! 😍🥰😭😭😭🥰
Thank you Hiro Morita and Sumo Prime Time for often inviting Kaisei to your videos and for covering this special moment in his career, this means a lot to brazilian sumo fans!
What an honorable moment! Proud to be represented here in Brazil by a person as unique as Kaisen . Hiro, it was moving to see your gratitude and respect for participating in the ceremony. Your videos made me fall in love with Sumo culture. Keep up this great work. Your channel is special to me.
I've watched a lot of your videos Hiro, but this has to be one of the best. Loved the behind the scenes. Kaisei is definitely a unique and kind individual. I hope you continue to do more videos with him!
Certainly Kaisei is a great ambassador for not only Sumo and his great and gentle character, but also a great example of the kindness and large heartedness of the Brazilian people. Fantastic coverage by Hiro as usual for this bittersweet ceremony.
Loved hearing Tokosei-san's comments, the tokoyama are always in the background and we can rarely see their opinions and expertise on their craftsmanship, thank you SPT for including him as well
Many thanks to coach Tomozuna for being such a friend to the Sumo Prime Time channel, and to overseas fans! I especially like his Star Wars carrying case! 😂
Thank you and congrats Kaisei. Wish you good luck in your next sumo career. Cutting the topknot is everytime very emotional moment. I love like rikishi shows respect to each other. It's rare today. Greetings from Czech rep. 😊
very nice to see some footage of this ceremony, I'm sure Kaisei will be an excellent coach.... and also nice to see that he fought my favorite rikishi of all time, Takamisakari (used to watch him on Eurosport back in the day)....
Congratulations Kaisei! Not that many people but it was an intimate ceremony. He was promoted to makuuchi in May 2011 tournament which means he was supposed to debut on March 2011 but with the Tohoku Earthquake his debut was delayed. 4:51 Wow, Takamisakari! Nice to see footage from nowadays' "smiling judge". Back when rikishi were still allowed to make noise to pump themselves up. 7:25 Love the final phrase, "I know it might be inconvenient (for you to assist) but it would be a privilege to say that an extra person came to participate (cutting my hair)"
Me contive pra não derramar umas lágrimas.
I will continue to follow and support him. What an awesome day. His kindness shows through in every interview you have done. I think he will bring something special with him to the future of Osumo.
Obrigada for bringing so much talent to Sumo, Kaisei. Wishing you much success in your coaching career going forward. Respect from your fan in Portugal.
Undoubtedly one of my favourites during the 2010-2020 period (alongside Tochi). - My congratulations to him for an amazing career. And as a side note, it's great to see Hakuho well in retirement.
Thanks , i havent beeing sumo fan so long so this tribute to Kaisei and his first years was interesting and also Tochinosin there both now retired . He seems to be warm and smiling a lot . All best for him in future . What an honor to be part of the seremony Hiro. U where Lucky ❤❤
THank you for all that you have brought to this Ancient Art form. YOu get to see yet another side of a tremendous great but humble talent. So so very different than American Sport which I find full of vanity and conceipt.. Arigato Kaisei.. and Arigato Hiro for such a womderful presentation.
Hiro looking on point 👆 hope to see more of kaisei on the channel, the videos with him are always fun, i like the on location travel videos, writing these places down to visit one day.
Deus continue a te abençoar nessa nova jornada. Abraços do Brasil.
Amazing, Hiro!! You attended the Danpatsu shiki!! How exciting and special! 🤩 Thank you for sharing the experience and the video of how the ceremony was from the participant’s perspective!! Kaisei zeki, Otsukare sama! I think Kaisei zeki will be a great trainer! Kaisei zeki looked great in his new haircut. 😊 It is a new beginning, too! How exciting! I look forward to more fun videos here! 😆
Hiro, could you please make a video about how sumo wrestlers can stay very calm! it’s a combat sport and can get very intense yet I have never seen them even get emotional/offended or any disrespect. It’s fascinating I enjoy watching your channel. Congratulations to Kaisei I wish him luck on the new chapter on his life!
Sumo needs more of his brand of kindness in stable life if they hope to keep new recruits coming in. Congratulations are definitely in order, on a great career.
One of the nicest sumo wrestlers on scene. I was looking forward to see his ceremony and it was very nice! Good luck in future career training new talents

Definitely listening to the fans love seeing Kaisei/Tomozuna on the channel.
Well done as always Hiro, thank you.
I was really sad to see Kaisei retire, but happy for all the great sumo over the years. He's such an amazing ambassador of sumo for foreigners.
His family looks nice. His brother looks exactly like him. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
My fascination with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and finding out there was a Brazilian Rikishi competing in sumo is the reason I started watching sumo. So thank you Kaisei!
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was also taught by Japanese people.
Thank you to Kaisei for allowing us to watch this amazing ceremony. I am sure future rikishi will be lucky to be coached by someone with such skill, yet such a kind heart.
Getting to sekiwake during that competitive era was a feat. Wish Kaisei has a long and successful carrier as an oyakata!
Every clip and interaction I've seen of Kaisei just paints him as such a nice person, he will be a great coach and role model for young wrestlers, especially those who come to Japan from abroad, given that he has gone through and experienced it himself. I really wish him well.
Kaisei: Quality human being. Best of luck and success as a coach. Good health to you and your family.

Hakuho wanted him to have stronger fighting competitiveness rather than being soft during competition.

When the GOAT says it's hard to beat you, that's high praise
