Thank you Shawn! So many people ask me to slow my videos down....I shoot using time-lapse so that I can capture the entire build in around 3 minutes. Otherwise it would be so long no one would watch it. I've advised watching it at slower speed. It's so nice to hear from someone who figured that out. :-) Take care

Thank you as always! Yes, my new helpers are wonderful. Max died unexpectedly from an illness that no one could diagnose. Then Eddie quit eating, we think partly because he missed Max. We got the kittens to give Eddie some company. And it really helped. He's doing well again, and the kittens fill up the house. Thanks! PS. I quit shaving when Eddie got sick. Now I'm just lazy! :-)

Things are going great. Just getting ready to try and sell the family home. Thought it would have been sold by now but it looks like it will be a few more months! However, slow may be the race but it is going to be a great starter home for a small family. Thanks for asking!

I have experimented with paper mache pumpkins to get the feel for paper mache. I bought the clay and made dragon teeth. Now I'm ready to do my first dragon. But I think I'm going to get your book first. Watching your videos over the past couple years has been great and very informative. But I would like to see if there's more I can learn from the master before I start. I will email pictures when I'm done. Your still the best Dan The Monster Man

Thanks Brian! I'm just got lazy about shaving. Yes, my little torty keeps hiding my paint brushes! You could see in the video how she is fascinated with my painting. Luckily she hasn't gotten into any wet paint.

While receiving treatment for a disability, I was entered into an arts and crafts class where I remembered seeing one of your videos. I love watching them over and over to try and catch details that I may have missed and recently purchased your dragon book digitally. I've started my first trophy and have limited time to work on it due to the class, so I'm kind of rushing through it just to get the experience and will be able to take my time when I'm able to get back home. It has been inspiring to watch something being created out of nothing and I want to be able to create my own fantasy. Most of my questions have been answered in other posts or in the book, but what size are the eyes that you use for the trophies?
Hello. I am happy that you are finding the video and book to be helpful. Yes, it is wonderful to pull something out of thin air. I think it's why most artists create. For trophies I use eyes between 25-30mm. The 30mm is the one I use most often for trophies I would guess.

That is cloth (bed sheets) dipped in white glue like Elmer's. Good luck!

Hello Dan, youre Dragons are always beautivul and so realistic. I wachted youre Videos hundred times and I learn everytime more and new things! At home I create now also papermache dragons(for my self) but there arent so good as youres (not yet ;)). But I have a Question about the teeths. I know there out polymer clay but what you use for these ,,glossy effect,, (3:02) It make it so realistic and the dragon really look like : ,,I want to eat you!!,,

I've realized that most of the dragons you make have spikes similar to Godzilla's. Do Godzilla's spines inspire you to make the dragon spines like that? Because I think they look great on your dragons :)
Thanks. I didn't realize that these horns look like Godzilla's. I do use lots of different styles of horns. Of course Godzilla has great spines, for sure.

Wow, I would just like to say that you are a inspiration to many young artists including me. Your sculptures are really authentic and detailed. You are a great example of how through patience, great pieces of art can come out. Your art is beautiful and I hope you continue this passion. One question: what is that white/wet fabric like substance you use to make the wings/ ears of the dragon called? Thank you.
He uses sheets. Plain Bed Sheets. Check out his video on making a demon monster mask. I think its like a 7 part video. Each part as informative as the lastand fun to watch.

I have a urgent question! So im currently building a mounted paper mache dragon and i wanted to know , how do you mount the neck when it already has paper mache on it?
I don't mount the neck until it has paper mache on it. I drill holes in the wood plaque and run pieces of wire clothes hanger through them. Then I'll make a little hook at the end and push it into the mached neck and cover with masking tape. I bend the wire on the back of the wood plaque and secure to the wood with U staples (for electrical wire). I then do more sculpting on the neck and finally add my cloth mache so that the wire is covered.
