We don't know why Rousseau has been away. But regardless of whether he has lost interest in TH-cam or has some life circumstances to work out, I don't think he owes the world any more videos. He's probably spent countless hours recording classical and pop repertoire, and the least we could do is treasure it.
Edit: He’s back

we can still miss him though 😔
It looks like he was using Concert Creator to make the visual of his videos. But Concert Creator is non longer available… that could explain why he is gone and why he may never come back…
@@thomasrieding8529 dang...
@@thomasrieding8529 I think the reason he stopped is that TH-cam has terrible copyright policies. Rousseau was getting copyright strikes for interpretations of pieces in the public domain because there were other interpretations on TH-cam and TH-cam basically acted as though those other interpretations were the original.
Classical music content creators are pretty much screwed and receive little from monetization of videos.
I don’t think people understand that this man has already probably played his entire repertoire of piano pieces, and learning new ones, mastering them to the point of being able to post it onto TH-cam where millions will see it, takes months to learn. More so classical pieces. It’s the sad truth, but this’ll probably be how Rousseau will continue to upload

I don't think non musicians understand that it is actually a blessing to be able to play as much as Rousseau can. At his current level, he can probably sight read very well, therefore, it will probably take him a day or two to learn an entire piece that could take a novice months.

I grew up in a family of musicians. Both grandmas and my mom played piano. I was taken to recitals and symphonies with the best of the best performing. I’ve heard this played countless times, and it’s my favorite Chopin piece of all time.
In my almost 40 years on this Earth, I have never heard this performed so perfectly (esp the rubato timing). Incredible work, and thank you.
He does play this one very well which honestly caught me off guard as usually i find his phrasing to be pretty plain
I've always thought of this as the one I want played at my funeral. No prayers, no sermons, just this.
it was okay but kind of dragged on. I gather that was trendy in the day, but musically I think the best work kind of gets to the point sooner. Just my $.02 and not a pronuncement that means that much.
Glad someone else agrees! I've listened to the famous classics, like Zimmerman's and Rubinstein's recordings of the ballade 4, but this one is honestly my favorite by a significant margin.
How had nobody said anything about 9:30 yet, I just wish that short melody could keep going forever🥲

Chopin’s ballades require much dedication to learn, one must have much determination to master it. The longest ballade among the 4, is 12 minutes long. The first theme undergoes four cumulative transformations and lot of decorations, while the development of 2nd theme heightens the music’s texture and complexity. Overall, an amazing masterpiece by Chopin, how a mere mortal created this, still makes me wonder 🥺🥺

It's funny that you said "cohesive", because I was just debating someone the other day over whether Ballade No. 1 or No. 4 was the better piece. While No. 1 is amazing (and yes, I think it shines brighter than No. 4 in many places), and while every...single....one of the sections in it are amazing, they are not tied together quite as well as the pieces of No. 4. If that makes sense. In some ways, No. 1 is more of a rhapsody. No. 4 is indeed, by modern musical standards, more consistent thematically...more "cohesive".
When I listen to Bach I see someone with culture, a man who fights against ignorance.
When I listen to Mozart I see someone with natural talent, an indisputable genius.
When I listen to Beethoven I see someone fearful, who fights against fate.
But when I listen to Chopin... I see a tormented man, someone who suffers, and who through his works tries to comfort himself. As if with these melodies he was trying to tell himself that yes, that life is not fair, but giving up will not change anything, it will continue its course and it is better to continue. When I listen to Chopin I see myself.

He is back!!
Wherever you are Rousseau, I hope you are happy. You have brought great pleasure to millions of people, myself included. and I only wish you well.
He just posted on Facebook! "I'm alive. See you soon."
Hey it's been 10 months since you last posted. Where are you man?? I miss you?
Rousseau!! I doubt you will see this but, I’ve been playing for about a year now, and looking back, without all of these videos you put up I probably wouldn’t have made nearly as much progress, maybe even quit. Because every day I can watch these videos and think to myself, I’m gonna play that one day. This really motivates me! And I just wanted to give an extra thanks to you because you gave me and tons of people extra motivation, and I know these pieces can take months to perfect, so doing that must be very stressful “just for TH-cam.” But never forget this isn’t just for TH-cam, it’s for millions of people you inspire. These months of work will turn into years, decades, of people playing these same pieces because of your help! If it weren’t for me writing this message while listening to this beautiful piece maybe I wouldn’t be teary eyed. Thank you, Rousseau!
3:04 Chopin's signature step😂😂
Not especially
It does
10:11-10:18 love those chord progressions
It's very magical
Dramatic, beautiful, prestigious, in my opinion one of the most beautiful moments in the history of the piano music. It is pleasant music to my ears

I suspect Rousseau hasn’t just left us for good. Hopefully he is just preparing for the 5 million subscriber special

Because of you I want to play the piano now. Can’t afford a teacher but I’m really determined to work really hard on it myself and learn.

We miss you.
I miss Rousseau. The talent and level of playing that makes him the first recording I go to when searching a piano piece is what makes his channel a true treasure. Hope he comes back someday
According to his community tab, instagram, and twitter. He is going through some sad life circumstances. I think he will return at april or may and post a extremly hard piano piece
He’s coming back!
I wonder what rousseau is planning, I sure hope he comes back, and it would be cool to see his face reveal!
When I hear ballade I don't think of Ballade No 1 in G minor, I think Ballade No 4. I don't think of an extremely hard piece, I think of a piece that is extremely magical and expressive. I think of a masterpiece. Truly, Chopin's sets are something else. Don't even get me started with the Scherzos.
ikr! no 4 is the best!
And no 4 is also the hardest by far
I love all 4 of the ballades. What I find interesting about this set is that all of them are so unique and all shine in their own way. I see the fourth as a beautiful story written in music, its probably the most emotional of the ballades but it couldn't match the 2nd ballade in dramaticism, and I feel like the 1st shows a much bigger range of sounds and colors the piano can produce.
Ballade no. 4 is better.
