KSG was touring the USA in the 1990's I think. He came with Shri Guruvayoor Dorai saar. At a New Jersey kutcheri Shri KSG told the audience that Shri Dorai saar's presence on that stage was very special in the sense that though he was grieving his son's tragic death in a car accident just a week before the long planned trip to the USA he did not cancel the tour as the last minute cancellation would have ended the tour of the whole gang that included Smt A Kanyakumari too. I was sitting in the front row close to Shri Dorai saar's seat; I could clearily see the tears flowing down Dorai saar's cheeks. There was such sadness in the whole hall. I still feel sad recalling that scene. I had been trying to get in touch with him -- to no avail. He is one of the best. May he make a comeback to concert stage. Narayanakurup Kanthikumar/River Islands/California. UKS saar at 90 or so is still active; good for him. MSG is gone. His music lives -- for ever.
he was the judge during 1979 80 & 81 during my days of kerala state school youth festival. very sharp eyes and ears. I used to get scared looking at his concentration. great artist. purely classical. no mixing. narayanan dubai

I heard KSG the first time in 1975 in Madurai In a big auditorium. He was not very well known then, but cast a spell on us right from the first song. In the middle of the performance, electricity went off, and KSG continued playing without the help of a mike.We were able to hear his playing Janani Ninnu Vina in Rithogopala in perfect silence. It was a magical moment, we shall never forget. It is a pity that he was not encouraged as he should have been .
I heard him first in Mumbai Shanmugananda in 1975. It was a 4 hour concert. At the end of the concert an elderly person went close to the stage and said in loud voice " Young man, you have a mesmerizing instrument in your hands. Let not ego go into your head anytime in future in your life. Blessings". That was the captivating concert he rendered.
He was my just neighbour and classmate at Fort High School, Tvm, where his father Shri Sankaranarayana Iyer Sir was my class teacher. His elder brother Jayaram was also a good friend of mine. It was a momentous memorable time in life never obliterate. Adv. A. Velappan Nair from Canada. 🙏

I am now thinking of my own Class Teacher Shri N Parameswaran Unni Pillai saar. He was such delight. I in 1992 in Long Island, New York, presented him with a set of high quality bed spread and pillow covers. During a 2001 telphonic chat he told me that the quality was so great that he had permenantly housed them in an almarah; he did so to preserve the quality for ever! He never once used it. How many times I have litned to this, and how many more times I will listen; each time the joy goes one scale up.
KSG is like a pearl hidden inside the shell. Not widely known. But those who have discovered him will never cease to enjoy.
