    Another excellent video, thank you. Apart from the measurement inaccuracies, my problem with this and other apps is that the walls are assumed to be 100mm, thicker walls, chimney breasts etc. confuse the plan layouts and produce anomalies. Perhaps if the walls could be set to zero thickness to show the room inner faces only,
    then this would enable more accurate multi-room layouts?

    • @LiDAR3D
      @LiDAR3D  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the encouragement and for contributing by raising a very good point. On multi-room floors with walls that are not all 10cm thick, this issue will bleed over and cause even larger measurement inaccuracies overall.
      It's a hard problem and I don't see how it can be properly solved without some kind of manual input. Maybe starting from close to 0 as you say and then letting the operator add the data or drag to adjust the rooms and layout so that the exterior shape and size don't turn out incorrect. It would not be ideal but perhaps better than the current 10cm preset.
      The "actual size" model in the video was made using the LiDAR mode and some manual control measurements for verification. I think it's the best way to go for now to ensure that wall thickness is as close to the actual as possible.
      🔌 ....and if you also need an optimized CAD 2D/3D our team is ready to assist by producing it manually 😊

      Very good point we use another software for insurance claims every day and it defaults the thickness of the wall to 4 inches thick. However, the user can manually tap on the wall and change the thickness post processing. It seems to work very well.

    You do nice work. Can I ask if have some news about lidar in iPhone 15 pro max? Is made by Sony now ? Yesterday new Polycam version for fix early problem with new iPhone 15 pro / max ..I think will be much interesting make comparison iPhone 14 pro and new flagship apple iPhone 15 pro and pro max..maybe lidar still the same but different camera and new processor maybe can help and give some improvements?

      Thank you! Very interested and looking forward to see the performance from iPhone 15 Pro. I can only speculate at this point but would be surprised if it's not the same or better.

      I am also very interested in understanding if the lidar of the 15 pro is somehow higher or lower than the 14 pro because online there are opposing opinions about it💁

    Can you generate 2D layouts based on point clouds? We are interested in quickly generating indoor layouts with features such as walls, doors, and windows. Accuracy within 5 cm to 10 cm are acceptable

    Amazing work! in your previous videos, you shown some data table with percentage accuracies. what would you say the M1 IPad with iOS 17 is able to achieve as a percentage?

    • @LiDAR3D
      @LiDAR3D  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you 😊 🙏🏻
      I would say that the percentage is slightly higher than before for RoomPlan, but still not good enough for professionals to replace manual CAD drafting.
      Stay tuned for more videos like this for the coming iPad iOS18 and more.
      Thanks for watching 🙌

    Excellent video. I'm a massive fan of new tech and following LIDAR tech closely. However, you've shown here that this is still not fit for purpose. Still faster probably with a pen and sketch pad / laser.

    • @LiDAR3D
      @LiDAR3D  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. I think if it's fit or not depends on what you are going to use it for. It's definitely not mature enough for some use cases yet. However, in a renovation project, a combination of manual measurements and what I call the "raw lidar" scans can be a starting point that is hard to beat (without a very large budget). It all depends on the specific task or project requirements and what stage it's in. I appreciate the feedback, thanks!

    Do you know if you can export window and door areas automatically to a format like excel?

    • @LiDAR3D
      @LiDAR3D  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not with any of the apps I'm aware of. RoomPlan recognizes and captures the data in question so it's relatively easy to develop an automatic report from that. I'm pretty sure we will see it soon but considering the doors/windows issues in the video test, the report would not be very reliable at this point.
