Back years ago there was this drink called Zima... Basically it tasted like seltzer water with around a abv of 4.7-5.4%. We would get it the day before and pop in a jolly rancher or two and let it dissolve and they were great that way...

Fun Fact: real good premium surstromming will 100% dissolve into the vodka, it's so gelatinous that it just melts, so be careful not to stir the jar or you'll be downing bits of fish goo.

Never did i think i would see 2 of the most relatable things i do in this video. 1)Looking in the fridge when what i want is never in the fridge. 2)And kissing my skeleton decorations

I've looked in the fridge before for toiletpaper cuz I half-forgot what I was gonna get when I got downstairs to the kitchen/bathroom direction... so went for kitchen XD
Funnily enough I think you were saved from that initial hit of smell by how fresh your can was. Most reactors crack it and immediately start retching because the pressure gets released right into the room.

Nah, you are not supposed to open them underwater, but you can do it that way to decrease the smell(but what's fun about that :p )

Make sure to get some strong grinded coffee beans now that you opened it indoors make sure to leave a bowl with it in the center of the room or the smell with stay for a week!

Well...that was basically me watching 2 minutes of dokaryan wretching and trying not to throw up.

Like you said, you got a "fresh" can since it wasn't bulging, some youtubers get cans that haven't been stored correctly that are bulgy and the file's are mushed into soup.
If store correctly the can can start to bulge some, but the file's are still intact. Some people here is Sweden buy the can and eat it the same year, some buy the can and store it in the refrigerator for next year or even longer.
I have one can at the moment that we will eat next year.
You were supposed to crack it open submerged underwater in a bucket. That juice is absolutely foul and wouldn’t make ur room smell bad if u opened it underwater.

We had that fking can at a drunken party in summer 2019 - f**k that stuff. It smelled and tasted like a full cat litter box, and after every burp that day It smelled like a full cat litter box in my mouth.

It isn't really how you should treat Surströmming.
It is generally recommended to open the can outside, at the least like 40 feet away from the table.
You want to dry off the juices in some fashion (Opening the can under water is generally a good idea)
And you want to eat it together with potatoes and sourcream, preferably on some softof bread.

@@InitialEyes Usually like a small bucket, you put it in the water and open it up.
@@InitialEyes hold it submerged in a bucket of water and poke the first hole with the can opener then lift it up and continue.
It is mostly done to reduce the spray that can occur if the can is bulging.
It's brave to open a can inside... I think you were very nice about the smell... and usually, peoole drink the vodka to get the Surströmming down, but to put it in vodka is just next level.

Dan the Swedish man here dude love your vids a helping tip next time if there will be a next you shuld always open the surströmming can in a bucket of water if you du that the smell goes away and then the swedish way of eating sur strömmin is on a hard bread i would also say Knäckebröd ( you can find it on ikea KNÄCKEBRÖD RÅG ) put the fish on the bred have som boild potato semi sliced semi mashed and choppt red onions and some sour cream there you go :D much love from Sweden and Merry Christmas

Sweden here. A good way to open it is to put it outside, far from the house, and then shoot it open. Then, when the acute smell and splatter has subsided a little, you go and have yourself a helping of surströmming with boiled potatoes, roe, onions and flat bread or whatever condiments it is your family has served since the dark ages. I'm big on onions myself. :) Do the Finns have anything like this? If they don't, they should have. They're brave, tough, good people (and they really know how to play metal), so they can take it. :) In the back of my mind I seem to recall that they actually eat surströmming, but I'm not sure. I would love to see their own version of it.
