@@LeaderKimJongUn any bunt to third base with a runner on first the catcher should be covering third
@@mattdeaver6850No way. That’s stupid, the catcher should be trying to make a play on the ball. Besides in that situation you would put the wheel play on where the shortstop covers third while the the third baseman fields the bunt
@teddy_scott36 the shortstop usually should be covering second base, and covering third is what the catcher does when the ball is fielded by the third baseman.
Of course the catcher should make the play if they have it; that is true for all bunts.
I’m just tryna figure out why the catcher left home uncovered lol.

Not really good though, he should have knew he wasn’t going to make it to 3rd base and ran home to intercept.

Which is called obstruction, and he should have been awarded home.

One of the very best plays in baseball I have ever seen!! I don’t think you’ll ever see a play like this in the MLB.
How was that not blocking by catcher at third? Forcing runner to nearly stop and go around him made huge difference
I believe he stopped to think about wtf was going on. There is no way The catcher could’ve been considered in the runners path since he had to round the bass anyway and the catcher was approaching third directly from home so he didn’t really interfere.
Runner blew right by him without touching him. The runner definitely could have bumped him on purpose and flopped and would have been awarded home
obstruction not blocking
@@matthewlittel9129 thanks (not sarcasm) My brain keeps going interference if batter penalised blocking if fielder penalised instead of obstruction and I don't know why I keep making same mistake.
@@phillipscott7049it looks like the runner has a slight hesitant pull up from wondering IF the catcher was going to block the base, and honestly, that catcher sells it, so hard, that the runner had to momentarily stop and think.
Did the catcher not get in his way and interfere?
@paulwheeler567Still can't be in baseline without ball, if runner makes contact he risks ejection for malicious contact even if blocked. The fact he had to pause then swing wide was all the difference.
@@phillipscott7049 He paused for a decision, not for the run. But I agree with your point
This entire play is a clusterf***
Very close to a type 2 obstruction call, but it’s up to umpire judgement. Runner should have made contact with catcher for an easy free trip to home. Such a mess of a play though.

There is a reason why coaches put the fastest runners they have in center field. They will cover a large amount of ground in short time.

One of the dmbest teams I’ve ever seen
The catcher came up and obstructed his running path, which also begs the question why the catcher didn't just stay at home and why they didn't throw it to the catcher
The runner learned that running 360 feet is more fatiguing that the shortstop running 180 feet.
Where were the pitcher and/or first baseman? lol you would think one of them wouldve headed to home
Honestly just impressed with how patient the ump was to make sure the kid still had the ball before calling him out
The desire to win is wild

How do all the infielders end up this far out of position?
Props to the umpire for taking a second and getting it right
Bro was not playing around 😅
Wow that brought back memories. Way way back when I was 15 (I’ll just say I’m old now) I played center field. Bottom of the 7th inning (the last inning) we were up 2-1. Two outs and the other team has runners on 2nd & 3rd. The runner on 2nd was playing so far off 2nd base he was like almost half way to 3rd. Our pitcher threw a wild pitch back the back stop but the runner on 3rd did not try for home. The pitcher of course sprinted to home to cover it if the 3rd base runner had tried for home. He’s walking back to the mound and from center field I get his attention…I’m in a 3/4 sprint toward 2nd base…our pitcher sees me as he’s headed back to the mound. Just before I reach the infield I’m now in a full sprint. The pitcher slings the ball in my direction. By that time the 2nd base runner sees me and starts running back to 2nd base…too late. I tagged him out at least 3 feet from the bag. Game over. One of my best memories ever.
Where is everybody omg???
They coming in like the avengers
Baseball is such a great sport
What the hell is the catcher doing? If I’m the coach, I’m pulling him immediately.
I fully said out loud "if I see catcher at 3"
What about the 2nd baseman and SS, they clearly lacked awareness on a tweener. One should've retreated instantly to prevent. Then the 3rd baseman, the runner was basically standing on 2nd when he decided to try to cover 2nd which essentially gave up 3rd. Also the LF, once that man started running to 2nd he should've been working his way to back up 3rd just in case anything weird happens. And yes the catcher made a dumb choice on a play that has at least 5-6 bad choices.
The coach didn't need to bench anyone, he needed no one to be filming this to show his lack of detail while coaching these kids. Also this is high school baseball wheres the pitcher, the rule we followed was any single thru the infield with no runners on you should should be backing up 3rd base and home with runners on.
To be fair, the player that tagged the runner should be pulled first for not having thrown the ball to the catcher rather than holding on to it.
@@DifferentAngles-yi2hr “I don’t think they should film this” is apart of your response, pathetic. If you don’t think the catcher should be benched here, well no wonder you were on all those losing teams.
@@arentol7 You have a low Baseball IQ. The Catcher would have been mid sprint to third if the fielder holding the ball threw it. He had no other choice but to chase the runner. The catcher ran to third but you say bench the fielder?!?!?!?!?
Catcher, firstbaseman, pitcher all dont know where to be on the field
No one going to talk about how fast that guy is to track him down like that?
lol this baserunner is exactly why they should train baseball players to run more than 90 feet at a time ☠️☠️
I mean, the kid tried to go for an inside the park homerun. Damn near everyone would be tired after trying to do that.

Wow that some really sloppy play it should have cost them a run, got lucky.
To me he was actually slowed down so so yeah I agree
@@DavidFalzone-d1u I think it was the center fielder that had the ball and he was the only one who was playing heads up. The first baseman should have shifted down to home plate and he was nowhere near there. So it was bad defensively on a really large scale.

If I’m the coach, I’m not going so hard on the infielders for not being at the bags, shit happens. But as for the catcher running away from home plate to try and get the runner out at 3rd was by far the most brainless decision I’ve seen on a baseball field. Run me 25 laps and you’re also on the bench for the first inning next game.
