Ooooh my goodness I *love* this script, and for the same reason. Waiting for that “GPS good” call out and having the flight mode feedback confirmation is just invaluable to me. Even on my X-Lite and Tango with their tiny screens, having the verbal/haptic feedback is just awesome, and I’ve saved my plane twice when I lost video and used the little map on the screen to get myself back in visual range.

I like the idea of the model actually announcing back to you which mode it is in. With Arducopter i have had a few instances where for whatever reason the craft did not switch into the mode i had selected via my switches. Yes, you can set your osd up to show what mode your craft is in, but having the actual tx announce the mode sounds much better to me - all to easy not to notice that the mode did not change on the osd. I have never played with lua scripts, really is something i should have a go at. Thanks for the very interesting info.

What telemetry data is needed? I'm new to telemetry, but not to flying. I have a receiver with built-in barometer and variometer, but that doesn't sound like enough to complete inav function. I need 8 servo channels (12 would be better), but would FrSky X8R Pro be a superior option to Spektrum 8020T for this application? I'm happy to get into whatever I need to maximize performance. I just don't know where to start. I guess I'm looking for a shopping list. Lol

I have telemetry output enabled in inav and I have attempted to discover new sensors, but the radio will not discover more, and it will not allow me to delete the existing ones. @@Painless360 sorry, I just received this reply. For some reason TH-cam is not pushing my notifications.
I have figured this problem out. There is not a straightforward fix, because there is a bug in the crossfire receiver using matek? Basically what I did was to move the receiver around on the UART's, and disable Mavlink. Then reboot everything. Apparently I'm not the first person to have this problem. I found the solution on this forum. There doesn't seem to be an exact cause or fix. And not everybody experiences this problem. After many many tries repeating all of the solutions suggested, I finally got it to work. You can read more about it here.. Maybe you could make heads or tails of it, in case you see this problem arise again.

well I got this going on my x9d (fw 2.3.11) with a matek 411 and crossfire micro. It seems to be reading telemetry okay but there is a huge amount of latency (around 5s). Has anyone else experienced this or have a solution. in inav configurator the response is very fast. This would still be useful as long as the plane was in altitude or horizon mode to navigate home, but I don't think the attitude indicator would be much help for a fast recovery

I can't for the life of me get the "Fuel" setting to work right... it always counts up from zero! Battery is set correctly in inav...
Edit: Nevermind.. even though is was correct in the GUI - had to set "set smartport_fuel_unit = percent" in the CLI

I rely on it now to monitor GPS locks while waiting to fly.. It is great stuff! Well worth using...

Would this work on SBUS as well?

If you also wire up and configure Smartport telemetry to the reciever... Happy flying

@@Painless360 Got it working on my C1 Chaser. I love it, thank you so much! I love the battery warning. One question on that is how does it know what size battery is in the plane? Does it just go by the voltage or is it by the setting in iNav?
