Brian has done backing vocals for years with TBDM, probably most iconically on Miasma but yeah pretty much since the beginning. Him stepping up is the right move, especially since he's the last remaining founding member, and his voice definitely fits really really well and not totally foreign to the signature band's sound and style as it is-- its awesome. For Trevor.
All I knew was that he was already a member for at least a few years, so I had no idea about all that history. Based on that, yeah, cannot imagine anyone else being a better fit.
Fun fact, Brian was always doing backup vocals to Trevor alongside being a guitarist. Super happy the band is still around, Brian is the ONLY person who could replace Trevor.
Will never not be devastated that Trevor passed but I'll be damned if Brian, Ryan and Brandon is not an absolutely insane trio of guitarists to exist in a band, even if Brian isn't playing.
Brian always did backup vocals, so you probably have heard him, which is a nice compliment I suppose since people assume some of his parts are Trevors, and you gotta really pay attention to notice it. I particularly like his little bit on "Into the Everblack." Real nasty classic death metal delivery. But yeah, he absolutely went off here.
I genuinely do not rank bands and just like what I like, but Black Dahlia is 100% my favorite band of all time. This song is so fucking good and Brian is inhuman. He actually did vocals on a couple of "secret" songs on black dahlia albums
The song 'Their Thwarted Patience' is the only song Brian has done by himself previous to this album. I'd be interested in your opinion on my vocals one day 😊
@@Jerrid_86Yee. The song is about Paul screwing up the Bene Gesserits plans. Dope stuff. Coincidental timing with the movies too. I dont think that was planned.
Brian did do a lot of backup vocals through the years so he's had the chops for it. I guess he saw Trevors path through it too. I am so proud of him stepping up and doing SUCH a GOOD job at it. Still sounding like TBDM while sounding like himself too. TREVORFOREVER
You have heard him do vocals, I’m sure. Since the beginning, he’s been doing back up and often does one of the two tones when they have highs and lows together.
Love the channel and your band. And about Brian, yeah, he did vocals but backing vocals. I'm pretty sure they had studio songs recorded with his backing vocals, but you could easily see on live shows.
Man, I'm not a tough guy or anything, but I definitely don't cry about these kinds of things much. But when Trevor died, I straight up wept. TBDM was such a huge part of my youth and developing my tastes and preference for music, in addition to inspiring me to make my own music (guitar/vocals). I watched all of their DVDs over and over because they felt like such cool friends - just regular dudes doing what they love and going crazy out on the road. I've seen them so many times live, and even had a chance to have the mic put in my face for a second by Trevor, which was so cool for me at the time. I was really blindsided by how much his passing impacted me, but I think it just goes to show how many people Trevor connected with in a really big way. He felt like a cool dorky big brother to me, and I know many people held him in the same regard. In any case, I'm so happy that they didn't stop making music, and this song is a banger. Trevor would be proud.
@@AgentBeans That's so cool that you got to chat with him and take pictures! Hopefully, you still have those somewhere! Unfortunately, I never got to interact with him that way, but I did get to scream a few lyrics into the mic on their Ritual tour, and that sticks with me. Everyone I've ever heard speak about their interactions with him said that he was kind and genuine.
They’ve done b-sides tracks with him doing vocals while Trevor was still alive. “Der Ton” and “Their thwarted patience”. Check them out! But this is the best I’ve ever heard him
My boys pressing forward is courageous and downright metal, thank you TBDM for endless entertainment over the years🤘🔥🖤 we miss you Trevor. Brian is the perfect replacement tho, epic af
First video of me doing this but I'm gonna just copy paste the following until it happens.. Request for a dual reaction video of Mark and Verona checking out Vinushka by Dir en Grey. I highly recommend the live video with english subtitles where the singer, Kyo (aka one of the greatest vocalists of all time that most of you have never heard of), is wearing a black outfit. It doesn't show his entire range on the song but it's extremely powerful and shows a lot.
Oh but here for those that, there was a bonus track on Verminous and Brian did the vocals on it, not sure if this link will be taken down. th-cam.com/video/Fv2IUcTPWV8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XwCYikvo3Ebcfedj = Their Thwarted Patience - BONUS Track off of Verminous.
Trevor more so than any other vocalist helped me find my own style and push my vocals to the next level. I owe every bit of who I am as a vocalist to Trevor🫶🏻
Brian has a good black metalish vox imo. I think the band should change slightly their writing style to match Brian. It feels like this instrument style would match Trevor more. If they go back to the nocturnal sound, it would be better I think.
Once upon a time, Brian was supposed to be working on some kind of black metal side project. Not sure how much of it exists if at all, but I remember seeing him tease some kind of project on IG and rumblings through the grape vine.
Huge fan of theirs from the beginning, but I don't think Brian is good on lead vocals. He was good for backups always, but if you've heard anything from them live now it's not very good. This is just objective criticism in my opinion, and they are one of my all time favorite bands, so I really want to like it and say it's great and all that, but it's not. I think Brian should just keep playing guitar, then they can have 3 guitars and do all kinds of awesome shit. There are 1000 people out there who could do Trevor's voice and probably even channel that spirit for writing the songs.

Like the analysis. First time hearing them. Like. Would love to hear reaction and analysis to "Ronald". Right up your alley

For Trevor.
correct, and on the first album, very impressive

The song absolutely rips. I think Brian sounds great and kind of like Unhallowed era Trevor. I like the raw and gravelly sound to his voice.
Yes! I definitely heard Johnny Davy in there.
Same, i also hear a lot of Jonathan Hunt from Dead to Fall in his mids as well.

Love that it's about Dune.
@@LoyaltotheNightsky Really? I didn't know that but makes sense since Brian loves Dune

I’m glad I’m not the only one who heard Davy influence, Brian stepped up and did it right. Rest in power Trevor, Brian’s got it from here 🖤

Finally checking out the band, but you still need to go back and do one on Trevor as well
not the first time Brian step up to vocals... on the first album he does most of backing vocals, if im not mistaken.
and sub secuentally

A great example of making running of breath sound cool is Tom’s sustained scream/gargle thing near the end of DARKO’s “Evolving”

Do My Horrors Undending by Summoning the Lich - The vocalist is insane and very reminiscent of Trevor
Thanks man.
Yes, he is one of the best vocalist i've ever heard. Amazing band
This guys are TBDM 2.5 if they didn't nuzlocked themselves to do another NOCTURNAL in every album

sounds exactly the same on vocals! brought a tear to my eyes. RIP Trevor.
