Like Gould, Jandó seemed loves singing while playing the piano. 😁

Many pianists do it. I have a few recordings of Rudolf Serkin playing Mozart's piano concertos in which we can hear the pianist's voice.

I have a CD of him playing the Schubert 958 and 960 sonatas, and you can hear the soft singing in the background. The wiki page about him says he has to put an unlit cigarette in his mouth to keep the singing quiet! But gees, what a pianist. Better than Brendel, in my opinion. Incredible expression.

Written between 1776 and 1779, the trio of the last movement minuet is in the unprecedented key of C# major (7sharps!).

pretty sure bach wrote in c# major quite a bit, how is it unprecedented? uncommon, though, yes

Sorry, I should have made it clear that I meant that it was unprecedented in the Mozart/Haydn Classical period (c.1750 - 1800).
It is only almost unprecedented in the earlier Baroque period, the Bach example you mention being one of the extremely rare examples.

The Romantics (starting with Beethoven's Moonlight sonata, then Chopin, Liszt, Scriabin, Rachmaninoff, etc) truly mastered the key of C#- and unlocked its beauty.

Exquisite playing, especially moderato first part. One of Haydn’s special sonatas. Full of surprises.
