Euller Pereira Well there are varying degrees of insane. Shepard may not be sane, but by virtue of the comparison to the other protagonists, he's definitely the Only Sane Man of (to coin a phrase) the "X's Mind Universe"

"that reminds me of how people got pissed off whenever you call the clips instead of magizines, so i started doing on purpose" FREEMANS MIND REFERENCE so many comments did this
I think it's a reference to this series, since this episode was made while the series was still going. Freeman SHOULDN'T know the difference between a clip and a magazine, since he's a scientist. Shephard SHOULD know the difference, since he's a marine that is trained to use guns...
+Angel almanza Well that's alright that he tried to explain. But I still like to think his mask has a built in HUD system. Maybe Gordon Freeman would have the same thing if they didn't remove the helmet from his suit.
Despite what marines think they ARE soldiers. They are trained armed combatants in an organized military service receiving pay for performing combat in an infantry role. By definition. Every marine is a soldier but not every soldier is a marine.
Thunderbird457 the entire bootcamp scene was an FMJ reference, because that's not how bootcamp has worked in a long ass time, and advanced training is an Army thing.
To be fair, this dude's training isn't ludicrously insane. It's just regular insane, that's a huge difference. Also, neither of them were trained to deal with ninjas 😂
Ah this brings me back. I actually liked Oposiing Force more than Half Life because it had a greater selection of weapons and I feel, superior level design. Plus it was kind of cool getting to play as "The Bad Guys," and realize they were just following orders and not absolute mad men.
The drill Sergeant's spiel at the beginning is almost verbatim from I think "Full metal jacket" He also looks like the drill sergeant from "Officer & a gentleman" - who also says a similar thing "you know what comes out of Oklahoma" not Texas
I think that Texas line was also from Full Metal Jacket: I’ve not actually seen the film but according to people who have, the drill instructor was calling the Texan cadet gay.
Training courses this unrealistic for the sake of gameplay make me wonder how Goggles from System Shock 2 would react to his training. (Not counting the 3 years of missions)
4:46 Ooh, his acting is starting to get fucked up... 4:49 And he saves it by saying something that makes you forget about what he previously said. Well saved, sir.
Freeman's Mind was created six years ago. Shepard's Mind was created four years ago. Shepard's Mind was relevant at the time, and since he never did anything with the training missions, he decided to. Don't bash on him just because he want's to bring new content to his audience.
This is great! Almost (Sorry I'm a diehard Freeman's mind fan) as good as freemans mind! I love it, and I have a new series to go through in one night... INSOMNIA ACTIVATE!
Isn't it kinda odd that all of these men already did marine boot camp, and yet they have to do it again? Most of special forces training is long exercises where the whole group goes days without sleep, while simulating combat, while marching almost that entire time. Then they let them recover; only to put them in the coldest water and leave them there for hours. This kind of stuff goes on and on and on, till 90% or more of the people sent, cream of their units, wash out. But HERC is like... "But what if the men don't understand how to follow orders and crawl?"
I honestly like the personality you have given Shephard over what Scott did with Freeman. Don't get me wrong, I love Freeman's mind. I really wish Opposing Force was a longer game, just so this series could've gone on longer. I'm so so happy you released this video, more Shephard's mind is always awesome :D
Wow, was not expecting this. I had started to believe the Mind series were dead (except Freeman's Mind, of course). Anyway, this is hilarious as usual. The engineer running in place and the fourth wall-breaking "use key" reference come across quite differently when the protagonist can comment on them.
Kinda weird how shepard seems like he has the same personality as Freeman to start... then again, it is safe to say that players who had played Freeman are the ones who played as shephard
I hope you guys upload that one soon! It would be funny, now that Ross it's out Machinima and in That Guy With the Glasses. Oh, yeah he's working for the nostalgia critic now. We all get a card, i think.
hey there KrimsinYT. Looking at my RSS feed aggregator this morning I couldn't believe what I saw. Gratz on still being committed to Shephard's mind after all this time. Shame that YT tells me the video is currently unavailable though. Anyone else got this problem?
Soo... Chell is schizophrenic. Freeman and Barney are neurotic. I guess that makes Shepard the relatively normal/sane person...
black0key Agreed, though I would say he's more ADD and more likely a guy who would facepalm at everything.
Shepard is a marine, do you really think he is sane?
Euller Pereira Well there are varying degrees of insane. Shepard may not be sane, but by virtue of the comparison to the other protagonists, he's definitely the Only Sane Man of (to coin a phrase) the "X's Mind Universe"
Shepard right now is stuck in some sort of stasis, so I would say he is in a coma right now
Yup. pretty sure you can't be a marine if you have issues
That moment where you stare at the bloodstained platform for 5 seconds then slowly turn and stare at the guy with the gun made me bust a gut.
