- Earlier this week, residents in Devon were told to boil their tap water after a parasite contaminated local water supplies.
And on the same day it emerged that millions of tonnes of raw sewage had been pumped into Lake Windermere for hours due to a fault.
There's a growing movement of activists now 'boycotting' their bills in order to 'hold water companies to account'.
But is that ok?

Are the Water Companies paying this guy?!
He's that rare thing a right wing comedian, and, like the rest of the clowns in No.10, he's not funny. He even tried to put some of the problem on issuing too many visas to migrant workers. The fact is these water companies have profiteered from a public service, and the Government and OFWAT are complicit, ineffectual and in these companies pocket, doing nothing to rein in their excesses. The water companies have increased debt on once solvent services just to pay themselves and their share holders handsome profits. Utterly neglecting to invest enough in maintenance and infrastructure, and recklessly polluting our rivers and seas into the bargain. The boards of these companies are abhorrent, greedy people with no moral values or responsibility.
The whole country needs to do this for water bills, road tax, and every other corrupt company, gas and electric maybe fuel, pot holes and council tax!

Take back control of these water poisoning companies, the rivers, streams, the seas . Public owned no shareholders, all monies invested in more filtration plants , more reservoir's, and very heavy fines and prison for polluters of our water ways , farmers who let run off into streams and rivers . Chicken and poultry farmers moniterd and fined heavily also.
we all need to take these company's to court stop large payment to shareholders we have paid years ago for upgrades that was needed and never done .
Hundreds of thousands of people protested against the poll tax in the 80s, people were prepared to go to jail for not paying. The Government got rid of the poll tax. We just have to organise on a massive scale.
Exactly we put up with too much
Some elderly people actually went to prison for not paying their poll tax back in the day. They saw it as worth it and took one for the team. This is what we need to do.

The people involved should be compensated .The rate they pay monthly per day of effect
income tax isnt usually spaffed away on shareholders tho (until these tories got in). unlike with private companies.

i do not know how anyone can defend these companies , the one thing i want to know is who bought shares when water went private and if some them are mps from the time then thats a can of worms.

Has anyone told Jeff that part of the water companies responsibilities is to reinvest and modern the infrastructure. That is part of the contract that they have with the British government. Jeff is acting like a wet wipe. Just appease the water companies. Pathetic.
Nationalise the water company's then give the bill to upgrade the whole country to the oil company's who are changing the weather globally with their products. over the decades.
