DynamicLOD in my mind is more for people who want a rigid altitude regimen where their LODs change. AutoFPS is more set and forget. That’s my opinion. But definitely it’s one or the other. Right now I’m running AutoFPS and letting it do its thing with no interference from me.
Well said. I prefer Dynamic LOD for 2020. Sim is Stable, and i know exactly what my rig can handle at each altitude, so I set for best performance. It Was/is a realllll "game changer". HOWEVER, 2024 is soo frigging wonky due to EVERYTHING being streamed, server issues, and airport incompatibility problems. Auto fps does a great job managing all those variables and present 2024 BUGS. # 1 Add-ons for MSFS period (IMO). A Big Thank You for your hard work developing it,and for FREE.
One more scenario in which DynamicLOD is the only choice: some of us do not chase fps but instead use vertical sync to keep fps at a lower number such as 30 or 50 FPS. This eliminates stutters to a great extent because both CPU and GPU always have 33ms to generate the next frame. But when FPS is limited by the user, one cannot use AutoFPS, because it would be trying to increase the FPS when that's impossible. I've used vertical sync since the beginning, when I was extremely lucky to get a 3080 at MSRP and had a 5800 CPU (long before AMD invented the concept of X3D). It works so well that with a 5800X3D and a 4090, I've stuck with it, and I continued using DynamicLOD after the dev released AutoFPS.
Getting a pretty smooth 60-100fps in the sim (2024) now without using anything. I think frame-capping and fine-tuning with lossless scaling is the way to go for me. Everything on ultra settings, 4K.
I've been using AutoFPS and it seems, for what I am doing, to work best. Having said that... Finding the tweaks for 2024 is a bear. So far, I've used a combination of approaches that have been put forward (The Air Bossman hack, with Lostless Scaling and AutoFPS) and I still am getting stutters. It happens when leaving the runway after landing. This is with the applications made and on ultra-performance. Continuing to test...
Am a tad baffled - youve done amazing work to clear up instrumentation when running frame gen... and its all back to washy, blurry text when changing (altitude tape for example). Did you have to wind back changes to get this to work properly???
You can make a bell curve with the plugged in numeric values...in your case high o/t lod at take off, medium (100) o/t lod at 2000ft and high again at whatever altitude you want...
It makes sense from a graphics perspective, but on my system I'm getting 30-45 fps on the ground and 60-80 fps while flying, so it makes sense to crank up the graphics in higher altitudes when more resources become available, aiming to keep a stable 60 fps in all scenarios. But yeah, I understand that 200 OLOD at 10000 ft is useless and possibly a waste of resources.
Could be the Airport ? Despite latest patch today I find certain airports still very troublesome … EGGP and EGLL but Chicago still not great … 4090 Q3 VD SSW
Maybe I missed this in the discussion, but do these settings OVERRIDE the max TLOD and OLOD settings in the sim, or should you set them in the sim equal or higher than the highest values you use in DynamicLOD? Thanks. Awesome video. As a VR flier, this will help immensely. And I assume you should turn off the Dynamic Setting feature in the 2024 Sim so they don't interfere.
I was working with 16GB GeForce 4070 super with 32 GBs DDR5 RAM. All I did was add two more sticks of RAM for a total of 64GBs and it made all the difference in the world and I don't need all the other stuff. My sim flies just fine, no stutter, stopped all my CTD's, etc. That's all I did was add more memory because MSFS24 is a memory hog.
I’m still struggling after upgrading to 64Gb 900 Mb internet connection, 14900k and RTX 4090 only works well on low end settings! Reinstalled Windows 11. Fresh install and still only good for low end. FOMO is setting in! What next?
@@johnbarnes7421 That's crazy. Is that 4K resolution? Your CPU might be bottle necking, as lots of calculations need to be done in game for the simulation. You have more than enough graphical horses. I have a 3070 32GB RAM and at 1080p I'm mostly on high and even ultra. I often turn on dynamic fps target to 30 though which helps. I have 30mbps internet to (until the guy comes who was supposed to be here yesterday)
Auto fps worked well for me until the latest msfs2024 update, now it freezes the games, even after downloading the latest version of auto fps. Hope there is a fix for this.
It depends on your WiFi setup. Both my router and my computer support WiFi 6. Actually, my computer supports WiFi 7, but I have no intention of upgrading my router. WiFi 6 works extremely well with my 1Gb fiber connection. I seldom see any "Low Bandwidth" warnings, and I'm 100% convinced those are caused by server response. I've also found that using a VPN (I use ProtonVPN) connected to a US server is the best way to go, as it pretty much eliminates any possible ISP throttling.
I like DynamicLOD more cuz I don’t want so many things being changed in the background. When I’m low altitude I have LOD at 100 and above 2500 I have 400. Plain and simple. I hate seeing the scenery changing so much with AutoFPS

In the Forum we asked and asked and practically begged Microsobo to implement granular Dynamic FPS/LOD controls like these in FS2024. They gave us a useless 'Dynamic' option. And of course it's still a violation of Forum CoC to even mention the excellent tools mentioned in this video. Fine. They can't stop us from using it, even if they choose to punish us for discussing it. Major arrogance and lack of concern for the client experience on their part, in my opinion.
When do you use AutoFPS and when is the Dynamic LOD program best to utilize?

Your OLOD values are incorrect. You need higher OLOD values at lower altitudes and less object detail as you increase in height
You can make a bell curve with the plugged in numeric values...in your case high o/t lod at take off, medium (100) o/t lod at 2000ft and high again at whatever altitude you want...
You’re actually right, those are the default values. I remember that from earlier iterations of the program and I totally overlooked that.

Your scripted videos are second to none, and the time stamps are tremendously helpful. Thanks very.😊
Using autofps now but i get major stutters on approach even though i have everything on auto for the tool, any ideas why or solution? Thanks
I went from 115-125 FPS smooth to stuttering 40 FPS (forced by Auto FPS0 with Auto FPS, I had to remove it, it was horrible.

AutoFPS works great in conjunction with Lossless Scaling.
Whats the difference between this and auto fps?

Yeah, MSFS 2024 is a bit of a memory hog. Glad you were able to get it running smoothly. I’m at 32GB myself.
@@IslandSimPilot what is your CPU?
I'm at 32 and never had a problem. No stutters apart from at the initial load, but that's my slow internet.

AutoFPS is awesome, and the developer is really nice and helpful.
Can't recommend it enough.
Could not agree more!
Hi can this be used in vr and with lossless frame generation in 2d?
Does this work in VR?
Yes
@@MrEDET Thank-you!
are you using 2020 also
Cani ask a question woulda hard Ethernet connection make much difference with this sim. Would you recommend this over WiFi.

What’s the verdict? Autofps made the sim butter smooth for me so I don’t think I need this?
Don't fix what ain't broken! I lean towards that as well.
sheesh we moving fr
