  • It's our final hike in El Chalten and Jen and I lace up for the long one. 14 miles and roughly 3,500ft in elevation gain, most at the end. We head out for a Mirador with amazing views of both Cerro Torre and Monte Fitz Roy.

    Great video. There are a lot of knobs out there with great editting skills who make these videos but they plainly are not hikers. You two appear to be otherwise. Nice work. Thanks for adding some time to your hike to share it with us. Much appreciated, and happy trails.

    Hi, Nick! Been awhile... one of the 'benefits' of 'Stay Safe, Stay Home' I guess. Catch up on some TH-cam. But using a 'hotspot' sucks. Was watching a vid from 'Sara Dhooma', PCT hiker from 2018, (met her at Rainy Pass) and she's in Patagonia now. So yours also popped up. By looking at your Channel page, looks like I've got some Japanese, etc vids to check out also. I moved into a motorhome and doing the '1000 Trails' campground life for awhile; 'til it gets too hard to move around. (have to move every three weeks currently) But the price is reasonable! Felt I had to stop by and say 'Hi' and hope you guys are doing well, and dodging the 'bug'. Be safe out there, Skagit Ed

    Very very nice. When we went to there it was clouded over, but we'll be back - we live a little closer than you (Chile) and I'm retiring next year. We plan on spending the rest of our lives traveling South America by mobile home. I will be posting on my channel as we go. I hope to get as good as you!

    Nice video, thanks for sharing. I will be in el chalten in two days and your videos gave me a lot of useful information. I´m not in the best shape so I will try to do an easy one first to test me. Your videos are great.

    That "ridiculous" rock must have been placed there by an alien! Or is it that the universe has so many dimensions that anything is possible ;)

    Fui al chalten en julio 2017 este es un trayecto que me faltó hacer, Estoy haciendo planes para volver lo antes posible y poder hacerlo. Por lo que veo tiene la misma dificultad de laguna torre.

      Es más largo, mucho menos agua, y la cima es mucho más alta, pero solo al final.

    Hi guys, great video! Beautiful day!! Which one was more difficult based on your experience: laguna de los tres or loma del pliegue tumbado?

    • @OutsideAndStuff
      @OutsideAndStuff  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh wow. These are both two amazing hikes. Jen says, "If I had one hike to do, it is Laguna de los tres". You get a much more intimate experience with Fitz Roy. BUT, if you have a place in your heart for Cerro Torre and Fitz Roy and only have one day, then it's Pliegue Tumbado. My personal opinion is, you need two days for Laguna. One to get there. And then the morning to watch sunrise on Fitz Roy. Otherwise, my choice is Pliegue Tumbado. Hope that helps!

      Outside & Stuff well the thing is that we knew your videos before I traveled to el chalten last March. We really loved it so we decided to go back next October. We didn't know loma del pliegue tumbado and we thought in ask you guys which one is more difficult between laguna de los tres and pliegue tumbado.

    • @OutsideAndStuff
      @OutsideAndStuff  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahhh yes. Sorry. We feel they are equally difficult. Laguna gives you views along the way and then you suffer the last bit. Pliegue, is longer and then has a bit of torture at the end. But, I think Pliegue is harder only because there is little water and you are in the sun more.

    How many hours was the trek? Can 11 yr. old can do it??

      This is a long hike with little to no water. People do get caught in the elements (heat and dehydration) so use caution. I'm not really sure about the hiking capabilities of children, so I am not a good source on this. :(
